ChiefPie Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Yeah Rex should have blue arms. Quinn Lin Vos is really good. Teedo is good but I think he should have short legs instead of long. Quote
HawkLord Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Quinlan Voss and Luminara both look really good and I feel like this will be our last prequel non-main character Jedi for some time, so I'm seriously considering them. And I already have Bariss Offee, so it would be good to get her mentor. Quote
Captain Nemo Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 All the clones do look lackluster; each have issues. Rex's face design is really nice and in character, but all the clones could do with a darker skin color. And leg printing. Tarkin looks great, as does Sabine. I'll most likely end up swapping Tarkin's head to the old grey body for continuity, but I do appreciate the continued use of the dark tan officer torsos. It's not accurate at all (Lothal lighting makes grey look dark tan, hence Lego's continued use of it), but I like the look of them as they make great military officers as opposed to fleet ones. Adds more empire variety. Best of all is the view of the Fifth Brother who we can finally see, and he looks spectacular. Not good enough to make me buy the full set granted, but I'll for sure be picking him up on the aftermarket. Now we just need the Seventh Sister--because just one good thing is never enough! Quote
ChiefPie Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Let's hope that Ahsoka set gets leaked or revealed soon! I can't really see lego making the fifth Brother and not the seventh Sister. Quote
benderisgreat Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 These pics give me mixed feelings: cool versions of Luminara, Quinlan Vos, Tarkin( albeit in wrong uniform), Sabine (in season 2 outfit), Dengar,Gregor, Lor San Teka, Poe in jacket, Unkar, Fith Brother, Freemakers family looks ok. Other minifigs aren't that great: Vader(with no leg print), Rex(no blue on armor), Wolfe. So while I will definitely buy Vaders TIE fighter, I'm not sure about Rex's AT-TE anymore. Too expensive for what it offers, while build is good, it lacks cool details and more significant more minifigures vital to the set( Zeb, Agent Kallus, Ezra). I'm also considering new X-Wing set for great Lor San Teka minifig and Poe in jacket. Still while summer wave has some interesting sets, I feel like they saved the best sets for Rogue One. Quote
TheNerdyOne_ Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 (Lothal lighting makes grey look dark tan, hence Lego's continued use of it) It's not Lothal's lighting, not sure why everyone seems to think that. The uniforms look just as dark tan on Imperial starships as they do on Lothal, and if you use a color picker on the concept art for them you will indeed get dark tan. Quote
pittpenguin123 Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I disagree! Look at the concept art for tarkin! the model would be made to match the lighting color! Quote
Captain Nemo Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I disagree! Look at the concept art for tarkin! the model would be made to match the lighting color! It doesn't matter what concept art tells us (If we go by concept art, Kallus should be blue!) considering the show just finished its second season. Lego would/should/and do know the correct colors. All that said, we know for a fact Lothal has pretty sunsets and that it's possible to argue for and against the use of grey or dark tan for the uniform colors. I don't have a problem with Lego using it, I rather like it, but I (and others) are just trying to make sense of it. Incidentally, Lego is way behind on the Rebels stuff. The new Kanan set is based on the show's first episode! Gives me hope for a Seventh Sister at some point considering we are just getting the Fifth Brother. Quote

I don't have a problem with Lego using it, I rather like it, but I (and others) are just trying to make sense of it. I'm sorry to put it so bluntly, but you are plain wrong. On both accounts - the colouring and the Kanaan set. I dare you to check the facts. The Kanaan set is NOT based on the show's first episode. His personal bike was revealed in the second half of the first season, as was Sabine's. Second, I urge you to do the following: In the final third of season 1, episode 12 or 13, you get a scene with Tarkin and Kallus at the communications tower - at sunrise or sunset. I guess we can agree that Kallus' uniform is grey in neutral white lighting, right? Now take a look at the mentioned scene: When standing next to each other in that yellow-orange light, it is obvious that Tarkin's uniform does have a dark tan colour when compared to Kallus' uniform. If anything, the colour should be a slightly darker tan, but certainly not a grey. This is arguing from facts. I normally don't like to argue from authority, but I've done quite my share of creating, animating, texturing and lighting 3d character models, and this case seems pretty clear-cut to my eyes. ChiefPie Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I like the tan officer uniform since it adds more diversity. You can make them ground officers and they gray ones naval officers. Right now I only have on tan officer and one gray officers. I wouldn't mind having more gray officers though. And a couple more tan ones. Quote
darththeling Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) Have you guys seen the Acklay build from Lego Magazine #12? http://www.hothbrick...ars-acklay-n12/ Pretty neat. Edited May 6, 2016 by darththeling Quote
Venkefedo Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Tarkin's uniform in the film/show is meant to be olive grey, which is something of a warm grey. Lego no longer has a warm grey, only cool greys (what we know as "bleys"). Dark Tan is a poor substitute for the old dark grey, which was a warm grey... and in different lighting, the uniforms can appear different shades. In the Death Star conference, for instance... in a wide photo that was paired with a diorama with the "Death Star Briefing" action figure set from Hasbro, it seems like Tarkin & Motti have warm grey uniforms, while Tagge & Bast have cool grey. In other shots, tho, Motti's & Tagge's appear identical. The simple fact is that dark tan should not be used for the uniforms, regardless of the color pickers in screen grabs from Rebels or the turnaround concept art for them... if you take that Tarkin and put him around a Death Star conference table (10188 or MOC) with other bley officers & Yularen, he'll look wildly out of place. Someday I might print up a decal & slap it on an old plain dark grey torso and use that as a better Tarkin... until then, I'll be using the 10188's torso, as that feels far more accurate than the Rebels dark tan torso. Re: blasters from a page or two ago, my main problem with the stud shooters is... it shoots studs. And then you have to go find them! Bouncing across the hardwood/linoleum/tiles, buried in the carpet, rolled under the couch, etc... that's not so fun. At least flick fires are pretty easy to spot by comparison... ...anyhow, at least the Kanan's Bike set provides a bunch of regular blasters, and they aren't too difficult or pricey on BrickLink (the newer colors are getting a little cheaper, too, which is nice... I nabbed a few silver Rey pistols awhile back, so now Cad Bane has a pair of silvers as he should!) I like the pics of the figures, tho the clones are too bland, and the usual critiques apply for them as back before we got hi-res pics of 'em (need darker skin, dual-molded arms, some blue on Rex, etc). Quinlan Vos looks fantastic, as does Luminara. Poe in the jacket is a must-have, Fifth Brother looks cool, Lor San Tekka looks good, as do the Freemaker siblings. The only ones I don't really care about are the battle droids, Unkar, and Teedo. Quote
Forresto Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I wholeheartedly agree with Venkefedo. Especially when Tarkin forst arrives in the hanger the uniform is exactly the same color as his film counterpart. The uniforms in the first film are a very warm grey that depending on the white balance and lighting can appear more tan/brown then grey. The same problem happens with American Civil War Confederate uniforms. Some were genuinely dark tan while others were a warm grey that could appear brown. I think TLG made his uniform dark tan for this set partly because of commitment to their previous decision on officer color but also that a dark gray variant will appear in the UCS Death Star. Quote

Markalus Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Gregor looks better then the other clones. I think bald characters rarely translate well into minifigs because the hollow studded head forgoes accuracy and looks kinda silly next to the accurate hairpieces, helmets and headmolds of other modern minifigs. It's the same reason I never liked Mace Windu as a minifig. I know it's Lego and its their signature but that's my humble opinion. Quote

JekPorkchops Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) Kinda interesting that that has been brought up, it never bothered me before. I know humans don't have a stud on top of their head, but I don't see the problem with minifigs. Okay that sounded a little weird. Anyway, I think Gregor is still the best of the clones and I don't mind his white stubbles that much as his face does have some nice detailing and it looks a lot like his animated counterpart, though I would have preferred grey stubble print as well. Obviously the skin tone is wrong, but that's just the way it is. I think Gregor is a great transition from angry clone to the other two clone characters. Edited May 7, 2016 by JekPorkchops Quote
pittpenguin123 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Have you guys seen the Acklay build from Lego Magazine #12? http://www.hothbrick...ars-acklay-n12/ Pretty neat. How do i get my hands one one... Also any one know if we will get the FO general in the US? Quote
HawkLord Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 FO General polybag is unknown at this time. Could be a Lego store promo or TRU, those would be the main bet. Quote
ChiefPie Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I saw on the site that was posted early with high resolution minifigure pictures had found a ad about the general which said it was free with a purchase of $25 or more. And the person said it was for Canada but will probably go to the US next. Also about the bald heads, there are certain minifigures I don't mind being bald but there are some that I don't like without hair or a hat. Quote
PicnicBasketSam Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Clones look awful... not that I was ever a fan of the Rebels designs for them anyway, but those figures look BAD. Sabine is still inaccurate as hell... pale skin, no actual colors on her armor, that ridiculous hair. I do really like the minifigs in the CTT, though... might actually get that set. Cool build AND cool figures. Hardly ever see that these days. Quote
Sneakguest Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Well I got one today from a dude i Stockholm that just have his own private lego store and he told me that he just got a bunch of the generals on post from lego, that he had not actually requested them, but as a seller one can always request for promos and lego will send them, but one have torewuest for promos well in advance Quote
x105Black Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I never liked the hair piece used for Sabine. It doesn't look like it should. It looks awful. Quote
makoy Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I never liked the hair piece used for Sabine. It doesn't look like it should. It looks awful. I agree. It looks like she aged 3x... but I don't know if the designers could have done it any better. Sabine has a narrow heart-shaped face and slim body so it does not translate to minifigure form quite well. Quote
