"Combat Frigate"... we know about the Medical Frigate, and the old EU had an Assault Frigate, but those seem unlikely. If it's the Ahsoka set, and therefore definitely from Rebels, the options are limited: the Hammerhead transports, the Quasar Fire-class carrier, and Sato's command ship I suppose. The Shadow Caster might work, as it's sort of a combat-oriented vessel, but it's classified as a dropship, which is a far cry from "frigate".

Or maybe it's something new... whatever the case, "frigate" makes it sound like it'll be a big ship, and therefore a pricey set

That actually sounds very promising! Can't wait for the pictures. Obviously, if the set's any good, Ahsoka will still be the main selling point, but the name of the set just makes me very happy. So many possibilities. I'm putting my money on a new Corvette like the blue Liberator, or like others have said a Hammerhead.

Sounds interesting. I was kinda hoping it would be some kind of new UCS, but a ship from Rebels would be cool as well. Combat frigate... I'm not sure if that could be the Hammerhead-class ship, since that is canonically known as a corvette,

and also because there's already another similar looking ship coming out (another "hammerhead" but in blue, from the 'The Freemakers' TV show). But, if corvettes still qualify,

I think it's going to be one of those blue-and-grey Corellian corvettes that are very similar in design to the Tantive IV. Why? Well, LEGO has already released a set called a "Frigate" (the Republic Frigate, mostly grey with some red, from The Clone Wars)

in the past, and that ship is somewhat similar to those corvettes, or blockade runners, if you will. If not that, then it could be Phoenix Home, and if that's not it either, then I don't know.

Oh yeah! Good call on the Republic Frigate... yeah, the Corellian Corvette might be a likely option, tho I'd love it if it were Sato's command ship instead. If it has Sato as part of the set anyway, that'd be fine (hopefully they print a nice blue on his upper torso, to help him stand out from the dark tan Imperial officers... his uniform is definitely suited for dark tan! Dual-molded legs with dark brown boots would be a fantastic bonus). Ahsoka, Sato, a couple Rebel troopers with their new helmets; the last seems a stretch. Maybe they'll make it into a Battle Pack someday.

The Hammerhead Transport wouldn't exactly cause any conflict with the Star Scavenger, despite its preliminary "Hammerhead" name... the Scavenger's 'hammerhead' is horizontal, while the KOTOR-esque transports are vertical.

It could be the Rebel version Republic medical frigate I suppose.

Oh yeah! I forgot that was the origin of the model of Sato's command ship, that'd make it a valid "frigate" option.

Combat frigate. Sounds expensive, hopefully it sucks and I can BL the cool figures, or is awesome and worth dropping the wallet for. But I am a little bit concerned about it's availability. If it's like the big set last year, S@H was the only option. These bigger exclusives are usually TRU, which again makes S@H my only option. We'll see.

I'm not sure a medical frigate could be a combat frigate though.. Just checking back in often waiting for more info

Unless by "soon" he means the Blizzard "soon TM" (aka come back in a few years)

A combat frigate could just be a medical frigate with several medical bays revamped into missile storage, extra shield generators, turbo laser control systems, etc. In Lego terms, it probably just means "more spring-loaded launchers & flick-fires!"

True!

Exactly. Let's be honest, the term "combat frigate" sells a lot better with kids than "medical frigate" ;)

Whatever it is, I think it's going to be fairly scaled down. The summer exclusive sets for the last several years have all been $90 (Sith Infiltrator, MTT, Defender Class Cruiser, Palpatine's Arrest, etc.), so this set will most likely be around that price. I remember all of the complaints about the MTT being scaled down, so hopefully people temper their expectations to a "frigate" which might not be very large.

When you google the set number and combat frigate the first image result is a card from a hoard game of the Pelta Class Medical Frigate. The one I believe is the rebel flagship.

My money is on it being the Pelta class which would actually make a lot of sense. The flagship featured heavily in the episode with Darth Vader's fighter tearing through all of the A Wings. Since one of the year's big rebel sets is of those two vehicles making the exclusive something that goes along with it is good for getting people to buy both.
