Terrynomnoms Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Am I the only one who finds in weird that the shoretrooper has a galaxy squad blaster and Jyn has a lightsaber handle with a clip on it for a blaster. I think it might be some sort of brickbuilt torpedo / rocket launcher. I really like the variety in weapon builds the Rogue One sets have Quote

Willsy Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 (edited) I got the Resistance Troop Transport the other week and I have to say, in my opinion it is the best winter wave set of this year and maybe even the best Force Awakens set so far. Everything about it just feels so well designed, the build was fun and I never found it boring or repetitvive. The minifigures are good, Leia and Ackbar look great and the Resistance troopers are nice too (I'll have to pick up the BP so I have more troops to transport). Also, you can easily remove the cockpit and gun sections and put them together to create a new ship which looks quite nice (I don't think this is an intended feature though). My only complaint are the canopy stickers, they were very difficult to apply correctly, but overall a great set in my opinion. I would like to get the Resistance X-Wing to accompany the transport and Poe's Black Leader X-Wing, but money's tight at the moment so Chrismtas looks likely. Edited June 6, 2016 by Willsy Quote
appiah4 Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Yeah the Troop Transport is a sweet ship.. I'll definitely be getting it before year end, hopefully I'll find one at 20% off or so.. Quote
JPN366 Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 @Wil348: I ordered a second sticker sheet to re-do the canopy stickers and the vertical wing stickers. They were difficult. Quote

JekPorkchops Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 @Wil348: I ordered a second sticker sheet to re-do the canopy stickers and the vertical wing stickers. They were difficult. Did you receive that sheet for free? I dunno, I usually order new parts or stickers if something's wrong with them and Lego kindly sends new copies, but what about that set? I mean, if you messed up it's kinda your fault, but then again it is sooo difficult to do on that set that it really can't be your own fault if you don't apply it correctly the first time. Lego kinda expected and solved this with the 2013 UCS X-wing by including two sticker sheets, though printing would be better of course. Quote

Fenom Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 No arm printing though If it did, there would be nothing exclusive with the UCS TIE pilot, kinda like the UCS Boba vs the Carbon Freeze Boba. Quote
JPN366 Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 (edited) @JekPorkchops: I paid for it. I think 50 or 60 cents US. I've tried asking LEGO customer service for replacement stickers and it was a no go. I'm a perfectionist, so I have re-done many stickers on many sets. Some I have completely re-done. The "A" sticker on the Azure Angel I have done 3 times. I don't like crimped corners on stickers, so I don't try to pull them off if I did them wrong or crooked. Unless a sticker has negative space that isn't necessary and I can cut it off, then I'll try to pull it off and reapply it. In regards to the Resistance Transporter, I managed just fine on most of the square and rectangular stickers, the vertical wing stickers and the canopy stickers were off center. They really should give you an extra sticker sheet in each set. My next set to re-do is the Mystery Machine. The stickers are centered right, my wife just kept removing them and the corners are crimped and peeling. I had to re-do the entire Naboo Starfighter for the same reason. Flieger Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Analyzed the upcoming tank and you can definitly fit at least one of the tank driver in it, and there is a top hatch for him to pop up. Sadly the second hatch on the tank doesn't appear to open though, given it's relative small size. Good. Given the size, one working hatch would be enough. I was just worried because both troopers are seen marching beside the tank. No arm printing though Looks like it. It seems there is no arm printing at all in this wave. Quote

Especially with the more recent printing. I am much more excited for the new minifigure in the TIE Striker set - Gunnery/Naval trooper hybrid (Ground control?) with a brand new mold :) Edited June 6, 2016 by Renegade Clone Quote

I don't know if this might help but... If I ever need to reapply a sticker I use an edge of the sticker sheet (the smooth backing) and gently slide it back and forth underneath one corner of the offending sticker until it is under enough to place a finger over the corner and lift it off in one smooth action, it works really well and stops the 'crimped' corners you get from picking with a fingernail Quote

It does work really well. Thanks for reminding me! Quote
JekPorkchops Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I always use the edges of the little cardboard boxes that you get with sets that have capes and/or rubber bands. Works fantastically, even though it's not as thin as the sticker sheet. Rest of my methods are the same as Brickr. I usually build a small assembly of the parts included in the set as a guideline to determine the center of the part when it's really unclear where that is or where to place the sticker. Good. Given the size, one working hatch would be enough. I was just worried because both troopers are seen marching beside the tank. Well Lego always shows the vehicles in motion (on the box) as if some trooper is driving it, thereby both admitting and hiding the fact that there aren't enough troopers included. Well, there are in the RO tank set, but the trooper that's supposed to be driving it just walks along just to show 'how much stuff you get'. The sets that I mean by the previous statement are sets like the 2016 or 2010 Clone Turbo Tank or the 2008 AT-TE (seriously who's driving that thing). Quote

Venkefedo Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Am I the only one who finds in weird that the shoretrooper has a galaxy squad blaster and Jyn has a lightsaber handle with a clip on it for a blaster. Jyn's might be a special weapon, as noted (rocket launcher or something maybe), but the shoretrooper's rifle might be specific to officers or certain types of shoretroopers. Most wear tan & black, but amidst the group of shoretroopers & stormies you see in the teaser running in the background, some shoretroopers have different deco... one has a partially-blue shoulder piece (the one this is based off, likely), one has a red bicep piece on his right arm, one has a black & white band around his left bicep, etc. Could be some have new heavy rifles. Simple enough to give him a regular stormie blaster, tho. That's a non-issue. Indeed! The set's supposed to be the main selling point at that scale, which is why they often don't have minifigs...or only have lackluster ones (like the R2 in the X-wing set). I don't know that having an arm-printed TIE pilot with unique helmet deco was getting many people to drop $200 on the UCS TIE...or that the arm printing on Boba was a major factor for those purchasing Slave I. Would've been better had they swapped Bobas between that & the Carbon Freeze set; I think more people would buy the latter with an arm-printed Boba and an Ugnaught as incentive. Especially those who already bought Slave I! Upgrade a figure for their behemoth of a ship, plus get a little playset & an Ugnaught...and a spare Han & carbonite-slab. Quote

Venkefedo Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 That TIE Striker price seems off... shouldn't it be no more than $59.99? Quote
Fives Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Has no one else noticed that the helmet of the supposed Death Star Gunner in the TIE Striker has 4 indents on the top part above the 'mouth'? They also seem to be wearing an armour chestplate similar to the Shoretrooper? I'm beginning ing to wonder if this isn't just a gunner like we've seen in A New Hope but perhaps a yet another new Imperial military personnel? Or perhaps it's Jyn in the Imperial uniform we see her wearing at the end of the teaser? Edited June 7, 2016 by Fives Quote
