mattyman Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 $500 Death Star? Wow. Maybe it will have exterior plating and interior play features after all. The ultimate Death Star! I'm hoping for a half sphere plating for display and and open back like the castle. The plating can also flap open to reveal the inner of the front. Like the castle it should have great display possibilities as well as play features. Quote
Brickr Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 The force is strong with me... There`s been a disturbance in the force... That I can already see the Death Star with the minifigures in front of a white background and the box art already... Tomorrow... What do you know? something... or absolutely nothing? Quote

analogkid81 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Hopefully we see this at Star Wars Celebration this weekend. Seems like a good place to debut it. If not, I am guessing Mid August as that seems to be the pattern lately with the D2C releases. Quote
Nokturn Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Hopefully we see this at Star Wars Celebration this weekend. Seems like a good place to debut it. I'm really hoping for that outcome, too. I think SWC is an even better event to reveal it at than say, SDCC or Toy Fair. Major UCS sets definitely feel catered more towards the hardcore fanbase, like the one that's going to be present en masse at SWC. That said, LEGO didn't have that much of a presence at SWC last year. No major product reveals or anything like that. Their only panel was about Droid Tales. Based on that, I'd say they're more likely to promote The Freemaker Adventures and the LSW TFA game rather than do any product reveals. We'll just have to wait and see, though. Brick Productions (Flickr) Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Yeah right, bud. I feel it coming very soon... Someone will leak it. Quote
Kman860 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 If the Disney castle is $350 with 4080 pieces, then the DS should have about 5500-5800 pieces. Even if it has 5500 pieces, the day I see it, I won't get anything done at work. I'll just be bouncing off the walls (or something else because I mostly work outside) all day. Quote

This is from the blurb for the Lego panel on Saturday: "Take a look back on the first 17 years of LEGO Star Wars, the increasing number of copies, and get a brief glimpse into what the future of LEGO Star Wars holds." Sounds promising - I've really got my fingers crossed on this one! Quote

darththeling Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Well... we were told that the new Death Star reveal would be after the Disney castle, right? And we got that yesterday. Unless it's leaked I can't imagine it not being revealed at Celebration. Edited July 11, 2016 by darththeling Quote
Kman860 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Well... we were told that the new Death Star reveal would be after the Magic Kingdom castle, right? And we got that yesterday. I know, you're right, but I don't think they would have 2 reveals that close together, let alone 2 licensed reveals. Quote
PickleManDan Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I know, you're right, but I don't think they would have 2 reveals that close together, let alone 2 licensed reveals. What about the Marvel and Dc Mighty Micros? They are both licensed, and they were revealed 4 days apart from each other. Quote
StarWars8Spoiler Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 What about the Marvel and Dc Mighty Micros? They are both licensed, and they were revealed 4 days apart from each other. There's a difference between micro sets and UCS/Exclusives. Micro sets can be revealed this close to each other because they don't have as much as an impact as the larger sets do. Quote

I'd like to remind everyone that Star Wars Celebration will be livestreamed, much like last year: http://www.starwars.com/news/announcing-the-star-wars-show-live-at-celebration-europe I'll be watching the livestream in hopes that they'll show the LEGO panel! RetroInferno Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 If it's not the Death Star I imagine Rogue One will at least be showcased, either way I'll be pleased. Quote
eldiano Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I have a feeling this death star will have Rogue One inspired action in it either way. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Nah, not tomorrow. We just got the official reveal of the castle today. We'll get it soon, but it's going to happen when it happens. Quote
wesker Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 28 minifigures? Who else can they really include honestly? I believe someone mentioned R3-M3 was coming in the new set (the blue astromech droid with the clear dome in ANH) Then there's the Death Star Gunners, Imperial Crewmen, Admiral Yularen and R5-J2 who have all had minifigures in the years following 10188's release. Any one of them could be included again here. Plus there's also black uniformed Imperial Officers, Imperial Dignataries, Moff Jerjerrod, General Tagge, Admiral Motti and Rogue One characters they could throw in as well. Plenty of minifigures to pick from. Quote
Darth_Brick360 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Personally, I'd be amazed if the RRP was the same as 10188, considering that it was initially available in 2008 By the time that you've factored in 8 years of inflation and the new 'premium' that TLG seem to be applying to licensed sets, I wouldn't be surprised if it's around the £400 mark (assuming that it's approximately the same size). I could be completely off the mark, but I'd guess that it will retain a similar part count, and number of minifigures, but be noticeably smaller. Although I had the opportunity to buy the old version, it never really appealed to me even though it was very good value for money. I'd love to see an updated UCS Death Star II, intended as a display model, plus a decent array of minifigures to go with it. This "brick productions" person is the same person as the infamous Taylor Stevenson, who has given false rumors on here before, with a different account. I would take anything he says with a grain of salt. He could still be right about it, I'm just saying that he has a reputation for spreading false rumors to get attention. Apologies if you are a different "brick productions" than taylor stevenson. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 At the moment, there is nothing to suggest than any of the "Brick Productions" accounts are used by the same person, aside from the name itself. In any case, spreading false rumors is a bannable offense itself, so if they do turn out to be duplicate accounts for that purpose, they will eventually be banned. But nothing indicates we should do that right now. Quote
legobear Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I love 10188 and do not mind if they do a remake or an entirely different thing. The most important things are the mini figures and varied scenes. I would only cry if they repeated the sandcrawler type build - beautiful on the outside and empty on the inside. This is true of the new turbo tank imo. Even insult on Hoth has weak features. Big fear over here. Quote
Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 "Insult on Hoth" Well we should'not get our hopes up... it seems like the SW sets are getting designed more and more from people who don't really that much about the universe.. Quote
Mymaker123 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 This may of been mentioned already so excuse my lack of backtracking to check (also I've been inactive here for a while so I'm not really up to date), but does anyone know if there will be an exclusive LEGO set at SW celebration this year? What with the sancrawler diorama and dagobah diorama at Celebration and Comic Con respectively last year I'd assume it'll be the same again this weekend...? Quote
