Also, is it just me or does Krennic's Shuttle look like the body of an AT-AP in black with wings?

It looks more like a UT-AT with wings to me. Either that, or the experimental Sea Shadow (IX-529) developed by Lockheed.

Regardless of what it's based on, it's a really striking design. Easily my favorite set of this wave, as well as my favorite design from the film.

It's menacing, striking, and imposing. I'm not sure if I like it more than the Upsilon-Class that Kylo had, but it's still really cool.

For people like me that have an unusual attraction to light bley pieces, this wave is a godsend.

....Wouldn't that be every single wave since 2004, though?

I'm with you on that but sadly, I see no signs of any of these or these in LBG from the looks of those pics... :cry3: Lots of them in black on Krennic's shuttle, though... But I needs me some in LBG dammit!

In trying to find new pieces (new to me, anyway!), it looks like the hovertank may have a 2x3 plate with one hole on the back half of the model - two per side (or it may be a 2x2 with one hole and a 1x2 plate, can't tell from the pics). At least, that's the only thing that stands out to me, other than the new print on what looks like the Grievous windshield on Krennic's shuttle...

<edit>

On second look, it looks like those may just be these parts instead. Would make a lot more sense than a new plate part...

</edit>

Anyone spot anything that seems new?

Same boat :sadnew: Hopefully, in the near future, Lego will have a need to produce them in LBG…

I'm really looking forward to seeing the interior of Krennic's shuttle. Unfortunately, there are no visible clips that imply opening hatches other than the cockpit. I'm guessing that the entire front of the ship folds out to reveal the interior, but that might make access to the back of the shuttle a little difficult. Perhaps the sides can fold out a bit as well?

Still loving the U-wing's design! Though the set could use a few improvements, but they should be easy to MOD. That and the AT-ST are probably the only sets I'll get, but the rest don't look bad at all.

Also, these images affirm my belief that the new rebel trooper helmet that comes with the U-wing is nearly perfect for the rebel crewmen from Rebels. Really a shame we didn't get this mold in the Combat Frigate set, hopefully they use it in a Rebels set next year!

I don't think any of the sets are good except maybe Krennic's shuttle. The rest look so boring, grey blocks, clunky flat studdy ships.

Not a great wave to me. I hope next year's is better, they sound great.

I really like that AT-ST, although with general european pricing at €50 im sure we will get to pay €55-60 at least...

Ill be adding it to the imperial army though, the rest is a solid pass, it all looks rather RO specific, and wont fit in well with other imperial stuff.

The top of the printed windscreen section is attached by a 2x4 black tile with clip - I'm guessing it folds up using this.

I've hardly bought anything this year - I've been so underwhelmed by winter and summer waves. But I think these are superb and I can't wait until force Friday!

Standout for me is the shuttle - such a cold menacing design, totally dig it!

Thanks for posting the pictures, CM4Sci!

Gotta say the sets don't look too bad, but I'll probably only be getting Krennic's Imperial Shuttle. It has some very nice minifigs

The thing is, overall I don't like all these new variants of Imperial troopers. I'd rather stick with the OT stormtroopers, so I wanna avoid getting any of the new versions.

The U-Wing fighter also looks decent and has interesting minifigures as well, so maaaybe I'll get it too.

Now we wait for pictures of the new Death Star :sweet:

Regards,

Mitch

This! There's something really unappealing about them but I can't exactly put my finger on it.

I think my interest may increase when I watch Rogue One though, that's when it usually does.

I have no interest in all those new models. But they seem very well designed to me.

Lot of details, nice textures, good joins in the angled sections, etc, etc.

I am not very fond of the final models, but I think designers did a great job.

Unlike most of the others, I'm just feel "ok" with the new Rogue One sets. Sure the sets are well detailed, but something about the design of the vehicles is just unappealing (Like Krennic's Shuttle feels like a weird hybrid between a F-117 and a Imperial Shuttle for me) for me.

The new Rogue One sets give me hope that there might be a "movie accurate" version of the Death Star Trooper / Imperial Navy Trooper included in the upcoming Death Star. A version that would be accurate enough even for a aesthetics perfectionist like me.

You know, the guys standing in the background here: ntroop08.jpg

The Imperial Ground Crew and Tie Pilot minifigs included in the Tie Striker set both have the "triple" belt lock print on their torsos. On the other hand, the AT-ST pilot has a new head (it seems), that would perfectly fit the Death Star Trooper since it has the chin strap - which to me is an essential part of the overall look of this costume in the Original Trilogy movies. The 2014 Star Destroyer (75055) didn't have an accurate presentation of the Navy Trooper, and this really disappointed me. No triple belt locks, and no chin strap, that is.

For me, the appearance of the trooper is one of the small visual details that will define the overall mood and "atmosphere" of the upcoming Death Star. My hope is that it will inspire me to feel that this is really "Star Wars" and "Imperial", in its characteristic and slightly menacing "nazi-like" way - even though we are talking about Lego here :) (I really like the Empire.)

Anyway, the fact that Lego made a new mold for Han Solo's hair might indicate that they are taking greater pains to produce the (Death Star) minifig details the way they really appear in the movies. And to me, this would be great news. The superb visual design (including costume design) in the Original Trilogy has always been an inspiration to me.

Actually, the torso print is quite accurate for most naval troopers as they have no belt boxes and a single-breasted tunic. I am quite curious about the new TIE pilot design having belt boxes though - never seen one with them so far, guess we shall see.

What bother me most about the latest rendition of the Imperial Navy troopers is that the mini-fig's face lacks a chin strap, they included a micro instead.

The one included in the advent calendar also includes a micro, so I guess I'll bricklink those AT-ST pilots faces once the set is released.

There's two types of Navy Troopers - the ones wearing the officer uniforms and the ones wearing the crew jumpsuits. You can see both side-by-side at the begining of ROTJ:

The last time we got a minifigure with the officer uniform was in 9492 TIE Fighter so it would be nice to get an updated with backprinting in the new Death Star.

The U-Wing is starting to grow on me. The studio pic does make it look a better than the boxart does. Definitely going to display it with the wings back though. Hopefully the sides of the troop area slide out like the Republic Gunship otherwise its going to be awfully cramped getting minifigures in there.
