TeufelHund Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 If anyone is interested, screen time for the Rogue One sets is roughly as follows: 1. Krennic's Shuttle 2. Hovertank 3. U-wing 4. Tie Striker 5. At-St (only in a couple of establishing shots) Quote

The Striker is probably on par with the tank I would say, the tank is just in one scene, but that might be longer than the few cuts of the strikers. I've extended mine by 5 studs (added to the ends) which looks a bit better. problem is the taper on the lego version is slightly too steep . I think the model would look better if the actual fuselage was made smaller..but then you'd suffer more with minifig scale and reduced playability . Quote
MKJoshA Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Okay guys, with the release of Rogue One happening now, please be reminded that we've asked you to wait 2 weeks before disusing anything concerning Rogue One that hasn't already been revealed in trailers. If you aren't sure if what you're about to say would be a spoiler or not, DON'T SAY IT! Us Regulators and Moderators want to enjoy the movie as much as the next Star Wars fan and as such we may not be present very much until we can each see the movie. DO NOT DO ANYTHING to make us want to make your lives difficult when we are next present! If there are any major issues please PM myself, BEAVeR, Brick Doctor, or Stash2Sixx right away so we can deal with it. Thank you. Quote

Deathstroke77 Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Just a quick heads up for any fellow UK folk - Tesco has some of the sets, mainly the Rogue One sets. at something of a substantial discount. Krennic's Shuttle is sitting at £50, TIE Striker at £37 and the U-Wing at just above £40 (but it's sold out ). There's a few others, but most are out of stock, so buy them while you can while they're dirt cheap. £50 for Krennic's Shuttle is nothing short of a HUGE steal. Get them while they're hot, offer looks like it ends on Sunday. Quote
Only Sinner Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Alright, now Iv'e decided to get 75155 U-Wing because I just love it! Next is 75153 AT-ST because it's Empire and intimidating in the movies too, right? Then, it's going to be 75152 Assault Hovertank because Chirrut! Quote

I think it's safe to say (without spoiling anything!) that the U-Wing is a fantastic representation of the vehicle as seen in the movie. In fact, all of the sets seem spot on - after TFA's problems (the Snowspeeder getting cut, the wrong wing mechanism on the Shuttle...) that's a relief. Quote
GeekByKnight Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Built the Tie Striker last night. I wasn't that impressed when I first saw pictures, but now I've built it and swooshed it around a bit.... ...might be my favourite set in recent history. The "wings up" position looks dumb, but that's simple solved by not engaging it. It is huge though, that surprised me. Quote

Huge thanks for the heads up, I'm more of a reader than a poster on here and whilst not a Star Wars nut I loved Rogue One and was looking for a LEGO set. I wouldn't of known about the offer without your post and with £60 worth of clubcard vouchers left lying around I've just bagged Krennic's Shuttle for free. Merry Christmas! Quote

Not nearly long enough though, compared to the fuselage, but I see that if the wing would be even longer, there might be some issues with the build, it could easily bend...one of the long black bricks in my set was even bent out of the box. All in all it's a great set, excellent minifigs, I'm really pleased with the RO line so far. (Kind of funny though that I already got the whole line except for the striker until the opening weekend, even if I didn't plan to... :D) Quote
npgcole Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 I've held off on buying Rogue One sets until I've seen the movie, and now I think I'm going to have to get the U-Wing. Quote

GeekByKnight Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Started building the U-Wing. Is it just me or is the hat/hair piece Jyn has WAY too big? Quote

No I agree, excessively oversized. She looks like she's wearing Elmer Fudd's hat. Although now watching the movie there is a scene where she is dressed like that but the hat in the film is not oversized Quote

Seconding the compliments for this set, although the minifigures are underwhelming and only make 4, the set itself is marvellous I think. The 'pill' assembly is one of the most solid things I've ever made, and the whole thing is very sturdy. No unnecessary play features and the spring shooters are easily removable. Sitting next to krennics shuttle landed, it dwarfs it really, and nearly weighs as much despite the 'small' number of pieces (543). This is quite misleading, there isn't much technic and most of the build is bricks and large plates so it's good value if you ignore the minifigures. Stickers aren't essential and only add detail which is exact,y what they should do. Nearly a perfect set, but that's because I'm a minifig snob and would have loved a couple of other imperials - an officer with a different rank than the usual 3 red 3 blue is more than welcome. It was delightful to build it and there are some very clever parts involved in the construction. Highly recommend it if anyone interested can find it for an acceptable price (I got mine for $76 aud) also, I should add that this is coming from someone who more often than not parts out sets without even building them once ,although I don't do that much with bigger sets. This is one that I will be clearing some shelf space for, it's just great. Edited December 20, 2016 by atlas Quote

Richpepperell Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Having seen the film a couple of times I noticed that the imperial "hover"tank is no such thing - it has wheels! Reference to the new visual guide book confirms it is indeed a vehicle with catapillar tracks just as a normal 'Earth' tank would have. Is this another case of lego working off concept art/early ideas, or maybe it was too tricky to include rolling tracks in a build this size. Let the MOCing commenced! Quote

It's almost certainly down to concept art and naming. I'm sure Lego didn't just name it a 'hover' tank so the concept art would have named it that way I assume. Quote
jdm44 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 I built the U-wing a few nights ago and I am very impressed. It's my favorite among the new vehicles from Rogue One. The AT-ST is still my favorite set from the initial wave. Quote

Yeah, Wookieepedia says that was an early idea. The treads aren't really visible, though, so it would've been a waste of time trying to fit them in there - I think the wheels are a great solution. My real problem, though, is that the tank is supposed to have 2 pilots plus a commander (looks the same but with a gray stripe on the chest) who sticks his head out the main hatch. TLG only included the pilots - and the hatch doesn't look good open. Quote
