LordLEGOtube Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 on topic (or maybe even off topic seeing how this discussion is progressing ;)): I really surprised about what they did with the Jedi interceptor, it's so confusing why they purposely redesigned it (this time even more than between the 2012 and 2014 ones) the guns look bad and I am disappointed that they used a sticker to create the grey 'trapezium' shape rather than achieving it through a brick built solution - even if it is more accurate. I can also see that they changed the interior again, it's so weird. We've got redesigned interceptors in 2012, 2014 and 2016 so I predict they're going to release obi wan's blue one in 2018 with another drastic redesign. The spider droid is awful. The 6 stud shooter looks less aesthetically pleasing than an actual detailed non-firing cannon. I'm excited for the BF BPs. The carbon freezing chamber is sort of lame, from enlarging the picture Han Solo's face looks like a zombie, also the build itself is quite small and there's too much gray. I'm interested to see how they'll pull it off with the 'transformation' but there's nothing really about that yet. I noticed a small elevator at the side. That 'wish' list that was posted looks completely fake, the only thing that could be true is the detail about the force awakens sets and the minifigures. Quote

You seem to know your interceptors, which do you consider the best version so far? (excluding colors/pilots, just talking craft design) I didnt realize there was a difference between the 2012 and 2014 versions, so i ordered parts for a MOC based on the 2014 design, should i take a look at the 2012 version for improvements? '7256 Jedi starfighter and vulture droid' was my first ever LEGO® STAR WARS™ Set, my second ever LEGO® Set (but not my oldest, that would be '7203 Jedi defence I', which I received later). I got that when I was only 5 but unfortunately didn't get obi wan's because I didn't realise it was a set (and also because it was in that ultimate space battle set, of which most of the vehicles I already had). I was the given the '7661 Jedi starfighter with hyperdrive booster ring' as a birthday present in 2007 and it is my longest surviving LEGO® set (that's still built). It wasn't until 2012 when I got '9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor', I was amazed by the improvement of design and stability, also the updated figures. '75038 Jedi Interceptor' is my favourite version (this may also be bias because it is a remake of the first ever LEGO® set I owned) it was a must buy when I saw the images. In terms of differences between the 2012 and the 2014 one, obviously the colour is different but the decals have also changed, the shape of the yellow/green and grey bricks are different to represent a different 'paint job', if that's what you'd even call it, but a colour change of one of them wouldn't make it look like the other. To be honest there is are no improvements in the 2012 one, only some changes worthy of noting, for example the canopy piece was a different mold and a different print. I tried to upload images showing the differences between them but unfortunately the individual photos were too big :/ Quote

Venkefedo Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Ok so we've seen 75140 B-Wing and now have seen teaser for 75139. So then 75139 must be Battle of Takodana, with Finn and Kylo Ren. What worries me is that we aren't getting old Luke minifig in January wave. The biggest question is why? ...because January sets are probably revealed before the movie even comes out, and Luke's being kept under wraps until the film most likely, because by most rumored accounts, outside of a brief flashback, which we saw some of in the 2nd teaser, he isn't in the film until the very end. So unless there's a shot where, Kylo goes from a tall skinny young man, to a relatively short chunky old man, I wouldn't be writing home about that theory. George had an idea he mentioned to Kasdan, that the end of the film would've happened as normal--the duel, Palpatine & the lightning, etc--but then when Anakin died, Luke would put on the helmet and say "I'm Vader now" and that he'd head off to destroy the Alliance...an idea Kasdan loved, even tho it made no sense and George knew it was too dark to ever pull off. I don't know that the idea was ever put into any draft of ROTJ...and had it made it in there, SW probably wouldn't be as beloved as it is today. Such a bleak, depressing ending to the series would've been more in line with the kind of '70s films that George was reacting against when he created Star Wars. Quote

HawkLord Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 The battle packs are instant army builders for me. Quite the home run. Rodian and Duros heads in a battle pack!? Yes, please x 20. Obi-Wan's Starfighter is a pass - I already have enough of that and don't have the need for more. Carbon Freezing Chamber looks really small, like super small for what it could have been. I don't need more Hans or Boba Fetts, so I'd be getting it for one Ugnaught and the set? Pass. Hoth, gotta pass. Anyone who has been collecting in the past few years has all the Hoth material already. I'm sorry, but there's just nothing for me here. Not into Rebels, so the bike is a pass. Homing Spider Droid, I'm on the fence about. I could use another Yoda and the trooper is nice, plus it could beef-up my Separatists. Maybe if the price is right and it's on sale somewhere. TFA mystery ship - Yes. If has "old" Leia and some new Resistance stuff, it could be a winner. Especially when I'm all TFA movie crazed at that time (which there's a really good chance I will be). Overall, lots of passes I'm sorry to say. I don't like to be pessimistic, but I don't really see a lot in this wave for me. Quote

I don't know why so many people are hating the CFC, well, ok, I get it, but for people who missed the first one, it's a start. Also has anyone thought it is a preview of a possible future USC set? BlueberryWaffles Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Isn't it weird that we've gotten a Hoth set pretty much every year since 2009 or so, but it's been 12 (almost 13) years since the last big Cloud City set and all we have is a small freezing chamber? I'd think a big play set like the last one would be a great D2C. Quote

For me personally Hoth is a much bigger part of empire then Cloud City, and in lego's defense, it is much easier to sell a whole bunch of vehicles/battlepacks on the hoth theme then CC (CC would be what, a slave I/landing pad, a cloud car and some scenery play sets?), think about all those AT-ATs Quote

Agree, I tired of almost a bunch of Snowspeeder remakes almost every year since 2011 and we need something new, not a bunch of remakes. Quote

What figures are in the TFA battle packs, micro fighters, and system sets, please, it could save me from buying current sets I don't really want just for a figure :) Edited October 15, 2015 by legosamsonite Quote
HawkLord Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 The CFC just doesn't have anything new to it, aside from the Ugnaught. I'd like to think that maybe it will eventually connect to something larger, kinda like how the Rancor Pit connected to Jabba's Palace. Maybe a larger Freezing Chamber with some part of Bespin is coming later. Quote
Renegade Clone Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Hope we finally get a Luke minifig in the Summer wave. A certain green lightsaber is spotted in the new trailer! Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Yeah, Luke will most definitely not show up in the Takodana set, so that only leaves a set in the summer wave Speaking of said set: I wonder what minifigs are in there except Kylo and Finn - Maz certainly has to be there... right? Right? @Renegade Clone: you mean the trailer that's supposed to come out next Monday? Quote

Canticleer blues Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I doubt Lego would wait that long. Luke being in Episode 7 is a big deal; if he's not in a set, then he'll at least be in a polybag sometime next year for sure. Quote
