For everyone disappointed with the lack of undamaged OT stormies - I reckon we'll be seeing them turning up in numbers in the Rogue One sets this time next year.

Yeah, nobody else seems to have considered this. January 2017 will have four more battlepacks as always, with two from Rogue One and quite likely two more from Force Awakens (more normal FO Stormies, Flametrooper, Snowtrooper, basic Officer, FO TIE Pilot are all possibilities, along with as-yet unseen troop types). The Rogue One Imperial pack will have to have Stormtroopers in it, and they'll more than likely be cleantroopers.

I actually like the First Order battlepack - it's a great addition to the FO Transporter set in that it gives you an extra trooper, a heavy trooper and crew + an officer.

If you were hoping for 4x FO troopers in order to build armies I can understand your disappointment, but it's a winner for me.

I like the FO BP too. The Officer is a new helmet mold and troop type, and the FO Crew is something I have no problem amassing like Death Star Gunners or other techs. And getting a Heavy Stormtrooper is cool, didn't expect to see him show up as a figure. Sure, the 'perfect' distribution would have dropped the Officer or Ground Crew for another FO Stormie, but I'd be shocked if we don't see another VII/VIII battlepack with more basic FO Stormies in Jan 2017.

Bottom line, the FO Battlepack is a pretty decent selection based on the First Order forces. Look at the picture and you can see *lots* of FO Ground Crew and Officers. If anything, the Heavytrooper is the least common, but personally I think it's a cool variant and don't mind having a bunch. And you can just bricklink some basic FO Stormie torsos to balance out your collection if it really is bothersome and you can't wait until 2017.

*snip*

I love the FO BP too, but looking at your picture I realize that the only thing it's missing is one of those sweet red flags.

Well, my idea is they did that to make money (I'm not complaining about the figures, I kind of like the choices), because to make a squad of heavies, and regulars, you need to buy 4 packs instead of 2. So, double the money for lego. I just wish the set would have been a transport of some sort to hold all the troops, because the FO troop transport doesn't have that much room, and there are no gunships or anything.

Indeed, one of those red flags would be nice.

An excellent point. 2 of January 2017 packs will be Rogue One, but let us hope there are 2 more TFA packs - one of the red flags would be a perfect accessory.

I'm hopeful that January 2017 will hold more TFA packs in store for us. Should that be the case, some kind of speeder or vessel seems likely, as it's a pretty common battlepack vehicle. I also recall seeing a mod to extend the length of the FO Transporter which could prove useful for your needs.

All in all I think that the quibbles folks have with these battlepacks are simply a reflection of AFOLs and LEGO being on slightly different wavelengths. In LEGO's eyes they just released a Stormtrooper transport with 4 identical Stormtroopers, so their mentality would not be to bombard us with even more high quantities of 'bland' Stormtroopers within the year. Unfortunately, they didn't realize that AFOLs generally despise the Rebelstormies and worship the ISD Stormie with religious fervor (no sarcasm at all, the ISD Stormie is divine and has no equal). Hopefully 2016 is merely a 'breather' and they recognize the demand for the basic ISD Stormie in multiples down the line. Personally, I feel like we should hope for, at most, a Rogue One pack with 1-2 ISD Stormies and 2 specialized Rogue One troop types (whatever cool Imperial stuff appears in the film, be it Shadow Stormies or some new variant or whatever).

Since we don't know how many figures will be in the Battle Of Takodona, is it possible that the 4th (4 seeming about reasonable for $50/£50 sets) could actually be Rey? I've thought of this due to this (absolutley badass) new image from TFA. It has unmasked Kylo (in the set). Finn (also in the set), and Rey. It does seem plausible.....

Admitedly that would make this the 3rd vairent of Rey, which would reduce Rey's Speeder sales, so perhaps this could be an exlcusive variant?

As much as I love a good shadow Stormtrooper (did you see that leaked image from Rogue One?!?) and as enticing as a Rogue One BP sounds, how likely do you think it is that TLG would have another year of FO/Resistance and Empire/Rebels BPs? Not criticizing your idea (hey, anything OT, I'm on board), and not entirely shooting it down either, but I just don't think it's the most realistic for TLG to release more or less the same battlepacks for two years in a row.

I will try not to spoil too much, but the set will not be based on this scene. Here's why...

The set is called Battle on Takodana. Takodana is the green forest planet we see in the trailer/TV spot. Maz's castle is based on Takodana. That's why she's in the set. The scene above is taking place on the snow planet/Starkiller base. The scene has nothing to do with the Battle on Takodana.

no way Rey is included in that set! We already have 2 ways to get her minifigure, different price categories too. But only one way to get Finn(really expensive). More likely another minifigure will be a random pirate or a Stormtrooper.

2 Stormtroopers, 2 Flametroopers.

What I'd like to see is another smaller set with Phasma.

I agree, putting Kylo Ren, Finn and Rey in the same set wouldn't make much sense marketing-wise  A pirate would make more sense, since from what we know, there are at least three other criminal organisations besides the Kanjiklub gang that appear in TFA :classic: A Stormtrooper seems likely as well, but I'd rather have something more interesting, like that tall red droid seen in the trailer  Or how about another BB-8?

I think he meant 75078- Imperial Troop Transport.

Well that would make more sense, wouldn't it.

:drunk:

That would be really cool.

Alright alright! Just guessing! And in regards to it being Starkiller Base not Takodona, I know that Starkiller is a snowy world and Takodona a forest one, but I thought this battle could just be up in like a mountain area of Takodona, where it is still forest covered but with snow...

Seriously why is it in SW that all planets only have a singular environment over the entire surface...

the least i can hope is that they do NOT change the design/printing of the various FO troopers from this wave to the nxt one. let's have some consistency please? at least for one or two waves. re the battle packs, i will get bothe TFA ones. the battlefront ones, i couldnt care less about them and the various stormtrooper variants. it was bad enough with the clones.

That used to irk me, but it's become such an iconic aspect of the series I'd be disappointed if they changed it.

Because it's much easier that way  Imagine if SW was "realistic" and every habitable planet had the same amount of variety as Earth does: first off, the planets wouldn't be unique any more (I mean how could you separate Hoth, Naboo and Mustafar if all of them shared the same Earth-like environments ) and secondly, the amount of different species and individual ecological as well as political systems would just be overwhelming

In principle, the planets and the relations between them are structured the same way as countries are on this planet. If we ever discovered other sentient life forms out there, we'd pretty much have to form a government that represents Earth as a planet...

B2T: I wonder how much effort TLG puts in the supposed unmasked Kylo Ren minifig... I guess we can't expect a new hairpiece (it'll probably be this one 88283.gif ) but we should at least get a new face print :sweet: Luckily, this isn't the Superheroes theme, because if it was, he'd most likely sport the Bruce Wayne face :hmpf:

Because Lucasart want to avoid confusion for new fans?

Of course, a variation of environment in a planet will make the planet to been feel more realistic, but for Lucasart, they don't want most new Star Wars fans (Especially children's) to been confused with the locations. So for this reason, all planets in Star Wars will only have one type of environment per planet

Pretty much this, except I don't care about the Resistance pack. I love the new FO Stormtroopers and the OT Stormtroopers, but all of these colorful troops are not for me. Stormtroopers and the like look best in black and white. Period. (IMO, obvs)

A tasty new morsel of footage courtesy of ABC. Some new shots, the one that above all stands out to me is of Finn wielding the Skywalker lightsaber against what appears to be a Stormtrooper with an electrostaff!

I'd sure love to get a set of whatever those ruins are that those Stormtroopers are defending against the oncoming X-Wings.
