There are some companies selling SW action figures like Hot Toys, Sideshow, Revoltech - it's not only Hasbro. So I wouldn't bet against single LSW figures or blind bags ever be available. Technically, the polybag 3PO being sold at TRU for 3.99 is already that. It is a pretty limited promotion, but if Lego wasn't allowed to sell single LSW figures at all, this wouldn't be happening.

Well, those companies would more likely be considered statues or collectibles, seeing they have limited pose-ability, and cost $200+

The C-3PO was part of a promotional giveaway. From my understanding, they aren't supposed to sell them. They always do when the promotion ends, though. And sometimes sooner, if you know the right stores.

The Spider Droid does feel like a pretty pointless release. We already had one not long ago and this version is identical aside from the stud shooter. They could have at least included some new Jedi, tweaked Stass Allie into Adi Gallia or updated some of the Clone Wars ones without the anime faces. If they just wanted to get Yoda back in stores, a better option might have been to go with something based on Dagobah, the Senate Duel or even another Kashyyyk set.

On another topic I think the chances of Ahsoka coming with the new A-Wing just went up with the latest episode of Star Wars Rebels. Hopefully with the two new Inquisitors.

I believe those companies still had to go through Hasbro first before getting the green light to release their own figures. And as long as it doesn't directly compete with their own company, they'll allow it. Sideshow and Hot Toys for example usually just release a single $200+ figure every 3-4 months, so it has no effect on what Hasbro sells at retail. The odd promotional minifigure is also fine. However if Lego were to release a wave of 16 Star Wars figures at retail, it would be seen as direct competition with Hasbro as thats exactly the type of product they sell in stores.

I've found a couple of non-prelim, non-watermarked boxart pics on a German toy store's website:

*snip*

It seems like the Rebels stuff gets ignored, but that Kanan's speeder bike looks like a great way to pick him up for cheap along with some dark green parts and a plain stormtrooper that everyone seems to want. That micro Ghost looks fantastic and, as with the speeder bike, is a great way to pick up a major character for cheap. I'll gladly add Hera to my collection, though I'd much rather see her in a set with the B-wing prototype and Quarrie and maybe old Rex thrown in with it.

Plain stormie is a Rebels frowny one, can still get 4 of em for under a tenner in the ITT battlepack.

I do like that grey biker scout thing though, looks nicer than the white guy in the AT-DP.

Also is it just me or is that TIE advanced a similar but altogether poorer build than the TIE Interceptor we had recently? I'm sure that had a see through window at the from, this one just has a brick wall behind the glass! Shame they couldn't have thrown an Inquisitor in that set.

That's the 3rd time we have had a Wookie gunship, I don't even remember it from the cartoon, was it in one episode?

Yep, the gunship was in one episode for about one second.

I think the gunship was featured in the first episode of Rebels.

Just to clarify, Sideshow and Hot Toys have a different license than Hasbro. SSC and HT makes 12" scale figures and HT in particular makes them for the Asian market. Since SSC imports HT figures in the US and is the primary (not only) distributor, that's why SSC can bring in HT 12" Star War figures. It comes down to licensing for a given area. In the US and Europe, Hasbro is the only company that can make Star Wars 3-6" figures. In the Asian market, other companies can make various types of Star Wars material, like Koto, Revoltech, etc, which can include various scales.

Lego is not allowed to sell individual minifigures, because it infringes on the license that Hasbro has to make figures in the US/Europe market. That's why Lego had to discontinue the magnets they used to make that had removable minifigures. Now at the same time, Medicom currently makes blind packed Star Wars figures, that are like Lego and they are allowed to sell them because of their Asian market license.

Sorry for the tangent...

No, no, it's interesting stuff and worth knowing. I understand that there's a similar regional licensing issue regarding the model kits, with Bandai not allowed to sell in the West and Revell not allowed to sell in Asia, but that's really going off topic.

That's the kind of stuff I like to know too :sweet:

Glad to help. I've been in the action figure hobby for decades and had been a SSC/HT/Transformers collector for years until recently. All have crazy market limitations.

Now, I'm glad to be dedicated to Lego - much easier to get ahold of, with less market exceptions.

Not to rehash the debate, but HawkLord's comment about collecting transformers reminded me of something. The old Star Wars transformers toys had a few Jedi Interceptors, and the droids all stuck out like R4 in the new set. Doing some digging, I found this shot from Revenge of the Sith

http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130215055242/starwars/images/a/af/ObiWanBlueEta2-ROTS.png

The droid is positioned up quite high, so it would appear that TLG is actually making the model more accurate.

this shot from wookiepedia suggests otherwise though:

Perhaps in your shot R4 is sticking higher out of the socket to "sit in" on the briefing or something (or is in the process of being loaded).

Either way, the lego model still has another inaccuracy, the droid sits perfectly vertical in the movie, yet sits perpendicular to the wing surface in the lego model.

The Advaced and Ghost microfighters actually look decent to me, but I'm not into those things or collectiong minifigs, so pass.

The A-Wing has long since been rumored to be blue and the Rebels version, which is based on the original McQuarrie concept art:

If it looks more like this and less like the cartoon feel of Rebels (see Wookie transport..) I would really want to have it. That Resistance Troop Transport, however.. Must.. Have it..

It can come so i can have a squadron of 3 blue A wings next to my squadron of 3 red A wings :)

I hope it comes with a mature Asoka, she is really cool :)

She was seen piloting the A-Wing in the latest episode of the show so I think there's a strong chance we'll see her.

I hope we get the new siths from rebels in summer

The Inquisitors are dark side users, not sith. You can follow the ways of the Dark Side and still not be a sith, which requires further training and power.

I'd like to see them too, but judging by legos treatment of Rebels it's unlikely we'll get both as minifigures.

Treatment of rebels? I don't really get the complaints honestly. Clone wars didnt get "current" sets either before well after they were featured on the show. This has more to do with the (lengthy) design process than any perceived mistreatment.

This set could quite possibly be one of the best ever: blue A-Wing, white (!) lightsabers, and (hopefully) a new Rebel pilot variation.

Don't set the bar too low...

In other news, could we please get a set we haven't had before? Is that unreasonable?

I don't watch rebels, but those two inquisitor looking characters are supposedly coming in a summer star wars set. Ahsoka would be amazing to get with her white light sabers, although I don't think we'll see her.
