Pcm979 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 30 years and Ackbar is still an admiral... you'd think he might've gotten a promotion in all those years. General Ackbar? Admiral is often the highest rank in the Navy. Even when it isn't, it's generally acceptable to call all forms of admiral (I.E. rear, vice, fleet) simply 'Admiral'.Perhaps he's on the New Republic's equivalent of the Joint Chiefs. Quote

x105Black Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Was it somewhere on this forum that someone said the Battle of Takodana resembled the Temple of Bacon? That's pretty funny. It's nice to see a flag here, but as the location in the movie actually has many flags, I would have expected to see at least 3 here (unless this is from a different point of the story, or a different part of the structure). Either way, I'd rather have the prestigious bacon flag than no flag at all. For those who weren't aware, among the flags at this location are flags representing Boba Fett and the Mandalorians, and podracing flags for Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba. Those would have been nice to have, no matter how nice the bacon flag is. Quote
Pcm979 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 It's "The Resistance" now...*shudders and rolls eyes thinking of legends announcement* Until otherwise informed, I'm running under the assumption that the New Republic still exists and the Resistance is a sponsored counter-insurgency movement. Mahtion Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Until otherwise informed, I'm running under the assumption that the New Republic still exists and the Resistance is a sponsored counter-insurgency movement. This is true. Ackbar is likely in charge of New Republic Fleet and comes as reinforcements to assist Leia's Resistance. Quote

CM4Sci Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Wow, Takodana looks even better! Where did you get the images? Quote
wesker Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Both sets look fantastic! I especially love the amount of space in the interior of the Resistance Transport. The options to customize the Resistance Troopers helmets are nice and remind me a lot of the accessories the Clone Troopers used to have. I'm not too sure about the brown marks on Ackbar's head. I don't remember them standing out that much in ROTJ. Also nice to see Leia's head is indeed identical to the one from this year's Imperial Shuttle set with only a few extra lines to depict she's older. I always like consistancy among minifigures that depict the same character. Now bring on TFA Luke Skywalker! Quote
Renegade Clone Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 This is true. Ackbar is likely in charge of New Republic Fleet and comes as reinforcements to assist Leia's Resistance. Indeed, there has been confirmation that the New Republic does exist in pre-TFA literature. Quote
Ultron Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Am I looking at the same set as everyone? The interior in the troop transport is tiny and the ceiling is so low. Quote
markw Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Lol, Admiral Ackbar with cup drinking action. I don't recall him having a drinking problem in the movies, but he had the same cup in the Mon Calamari Cruiser set. I had the same thought. The trooper falling is what caught my eye initially. I'm sure I read somewhere that the coffee cup is a gag as one is visible on set that had been left there by the crew. I've watched the scene and never spotted it though. Quote
wesker Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Am I looking at the same set as everyone? The interior in the troop transport is tiny and the ceiling is so low. The ceiling is high enough that Leia has no problems standing up inside the ship. And the overhead shot shows there should be enough space to fit in 8 minifigures in addition to the pilot. For a set this size I think its pretty good. Quote
Tariq j Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 These two sets are excellent! The Battle of Takodana is a must buy. Quote
mantebose Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Some sets from 2016 already appeared for sale in Russia. All action figures, some battle packs and microfighters. Quote
General Magma Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) Admiral is a Navy rank, General is an Army rank. Changing rank from Admiral to General would be a demotion. ;) I and my lack of rank knowledge did not know that. You really do learn something new everyday... BrickBob Studpants Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 This wave shapes up to be a great one, and I especially can't wait to get those TFA sets Old Leia looks great, even though it seems that TLG didn't get the memo that she's not going by the "Princess" title any more It's also great to see my assumptions about Maz being confirmed Regarding the New Republic: according to rumors, the New Republic has a peace treaty with the First Order, which Leia doesn't believe in and forms the Resistance as a contingency plan in case the FO breaks the treaty, which they obviously do Quote
benderisgreat Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 New HD pics are sweet and reveal more details about the sets. Like that Resistance transporter has enough interior space to fit all resistance soldiers from Battlepack or make it more battle ready. It's a shame the set only has 2 troopers by itself, but most of us were planning on getting Battlepacks anyway. Battle on Takodana keeps getting better with every image ! Like Kylo's face it has this Sith like shadows under eyes, just like Anakin had in 2012 sets. And even playfeatures are pretty solid. Quote
nikro Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) Some sets from 2016 already appeared for sale in Russia like some sets are already available in a Auchan store in Samara (Russia) Edited December 6, 2015 by nikro Quote
Pcm979 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I and my lack of rank knowledge did not know that. You really do learn something new everyday... Well, if most of your military knowledge comes from Star Wars, I can definitely understand the confusion, since during the Clone Wars, Jedi Generals and General Grievous both seemed to outrank their Admirals, but that's because in both their cases those titles are honorary, and they really operated outside the command structure of their respective militaries. In the Jedi's case, since the Order was co-ordinating the Republic war effort, they were effectively allowed to give orders to everyone. Their honorary titles came from the Army branch of the services because they were most integrated into the command structure of the Clone Troopers, and not the Navy. In Grievous's case, he was in fact an accredited General, but that was from his time in the Kaleesh Armed Forces, an organization he was discharged from due to his catastrophic injuries. His actual rank within the CIS military was Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, which is exactly what it sounds like. He preferred to be addressed by the inferior title of 'General' due to nostalgia, the same reason that he and his bodyguard droids wear Kaleesh-patterned cloaks and shawls despite not needing them. Now, in the new Canon continuity, the Imperial Armed Forces (including the Navy) are under the control of a Grand General after the battle of Yavin, but that appears mainly to be because he's the sole surviving member of the Imperial Joint Chiefs of Staff after the destruction of the first Death Star, and is therefore effectively the sole Chief of Staff until and unless the Emperor sees fit to appoint replacements. DarthBrickus Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 June/Summer 2016 SW List Those seem like unusually high minifig-counts for sets in those price-ranges... I am a tad bit sceptical... Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 This rings false to me... No Luke, no Snoke and almost no new side-characters? Also, there are two things that seem suspicious about the Podracer set: 1) The minifig count 2) a new version of Ani's Podracer is supposed to come out as part of the winter wave at a much smaller price point I call shenanigans Quote
