Elostirion Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=122728&st=25 Damnit, I really got that ship? Money has been transferred... Quote
Maxim I Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) Honestly, I am not such a big fan of those biddings... It is very unfair as not everyone has the possibility to be online at the end of the bidding. I would suggest a bidding where participants send the auctionmaster a bid in private message so they don't know about eachothers bid. I also think this will result in higher yield for the seller Just to be clear, I had no interest in the ships, it just is my opinion ;) Edited March 12, 2016 by Maxim I Quote

This sounds like a better, and more fair, option for future auctions. Good thinking. Quote
Garmadon Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 The ETWC offers a prize of 25DBs to anyone (from any faction) willing to build a large (between 64 x 64 and 128 x 128 studs) oat or wheat plantation for it (the ETWC will licence it - and pay for the licence, obviously!) in the settlement of Pontelli before the end of the month! The first person to sign up for it will get the reward once the plantation is built Quote

Frankly I don't really see what was unfair about this one however, it's just like other online auctions. If you care that much, you can surely make time to be online at the end time! @Elsotirion, I was actually going to outbid you but I felt bad because I messed the deadline up. And then I had second thoughts as to whether or not I'd be able to build the ship in time. Quote

That's true, but those pages have a countdown and refresh page system :p I just think the results are very poor for licenced ships... Quote
Bregir Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) That's true, but those pages have a countdown and refresh page system :p I just think the results are very poor for licenced ships... Theoretically, people could bid what they wanted to pay in good time, so I wouldn't say it was unfair. However, I think closed bid, or a dutch auction might be a better solution. In any case, it was a first, and we need these experiments to figure out what works, and what doesn't. It might just be, that no one needed or were interested in those specific types of licenses. Or that the moc'ing deadlines kept bidders away. Edit: Or make it so that people submit their maximum bid to an independent third party. The highest bidder thus wins the auction, paying the second highest bid plus 5 dbs. (To a maximum of his own bid.) Obviously, this third part would take a fee for managing it... Maybe this would be a task for Maxim's ship broker) Edited March 13, 2016 by Bregir Quote

Just submit some random responses for testing. The only part where you have to think is how you find the maximum bid, which is easily solved by using =max(D1:D108) (insert other cell numbers if you need to) Edited March 14, 2016 by Legostone Quote

If I held an auction, I would ask a third party to take bids bids per pm, simply. :) Possibly letting people know who had the winning bid. (Next highest bid + x, not the max bid submitted) Quote

(Next highest bid + x, not the max bid submitted) Well, it really just takes 5 minutes to setup such an auction form if you know what you have to do. And then you just wait until it ends and see what the maximum bid is. With the right chrome add-on you can even set an expiration date (no idea why that is not a default function) to make it even easier. Quote
Tomsche Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I`d say everyone should just choose how they like to sell their stuff themselves. Just like in RL, it`s up to the seller to choose the medium (ebay, craigslist, whatevs) and how many potential buyers he will reach with that manner. Quote

Tezclatipoca Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Hello, I am sending an official request from Felipe de la Manzana, MAESTRO Member, to Lord Thomas Smaugton, Corrington ambassador for MAESTRO trade company : "My dear friend, As you probably know, MAESTRO encountered a native tribe named the Ténotclaxcans. They are friendly but have strange habits and myths they are not ready to share with us easily. I am sending this letter to ask you some help. I know your interest in science, and specially in anthropology. So, I am asking you if you could recommend me some scientific experts in order to meet with me and my first officer the natives in order to learn their secrets. It is possible we have a hint concerning a mythical fruit I am trying to find. I learned you were founding a settlement in the new Cocovia. Is it possible for me to go there and meet the scientists in Quinnsville ? (I have a friend fisherman of MAESTRO that is interested in your fishy bays, I will lead him to your colony in the same occasion.) Friendly yours, Felipe de la Manzana." This letter is the beginning of a collaboration between us and is a way to reinforce Eslandola-Corrington good relationships. Quote

gedren_y Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 With the new LDD patch out today (downloading now), I should get a nice big push on the Dark Lightning. The Eslandola Royal Fleet should be happy with the representation. Quote
TitusV Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Looking forward to the ship, gedren! Also, a new (small) freebuild up! Quote
halixon Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 After having introduced my character Windar Baerbald, i've been really inactive. So i'm going to post my first build soon. Quote
halixon Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I have my build ready to post, but i don't know where it'll take place. It's Windar's personal estate, but i don't know exactly where most Eslandolan citizens would reside. Any ideas? Quote

As the mayor of the settlement of Weelond on An Holli, let me suggest Weelond as a lovely place to build your residence. We currently have a 5db rebate for the next two people to build and license an artisan's shop here, but I will extend a rebate to you for your residence as well: 2db if a small residence, and 5db if a medium sized residence.
