La Chupacabra Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Another step closer: More on-topic: after removing the print, did you notice any change in the plastic's surface at all? Because when I did print removal from torsos and faces, I ended up with the plastic looking less shiny and a little dull and I don't know how to work around that I didn't notice anything. Im using cotton swabs and toothpick. Maybe you were pressing too much ? Edited December 26, 2015 by La Chupacabra Quote
irispen Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I cant wait to see how far can you go Quote
atlas Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Loving this thread. I had planned to do the exact same thing. It's good to see that the damage near the (vocabulator?) mouth doesn't overlap with his mouth, it's just adjacent to it. So, with precision, it's possible to restore these to stock condition. At least the helmets. I don't mind the little grey scoring on some parts of the armour, it's barely noticeable. Those blotches and big scratches are definitely going to get wiped though Quote
CT-22-2759 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 You can also do this with a simple pencil eraser. There was no doubt that those two bigger marks could be removed, but the real question is whether you can remove the one on the air vent (not a mouth). If that one won't come off cleanly then they won't be good replacements for the normal stormtrooper. Also the torso looks a bit more difficult. If I were to do this job, I'd use masking tape and an automatic eraser with very new batteries, plus some polish... Also, the black spots on his chest plate could definitely do the role of blaster damage, as a fatality due to a single shot... Quote

Cody Startale Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Looking good, almost flawless! I wouldn't spot the difference to the undamaged ones. This is truly some impressive effort right there. How many hours have you invested in this process so far? Quote
Junior Shark Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 So you use the Brasso-dipped toothpick to clear the printing, then dry with cotton swab? Quote
La Chupacabra Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 How many hours have you invested in this process so far? About one hour maybe less. So you use the Brasso-dipped toothpick to clear the printing, then dry with cotton swab? Yes I'm using Brasso-dipped toothpick or cotton swab depend of size of "damage" and after that I'm polishing plastic with cotton pad. Quote
pittpenguin123 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 This post is worth 70 portions! I like it. makes the set much better Quote

AFOLguy1970 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Awesome job! I might buy a battle pack or two and try my hand at it. Quote

TheBear Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Thanks for the close up. I was sceptical that you could pull it off but they have come out great. Quote
Junior Shark Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) You've sold me! Definitely doing this myself. My new favorite battlepack! Edited December 29, 2015 by Junior Shark Quote
La Chupacabra Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Thanks guys! I'm glad you like my work. I'm starting to transform another Stormie but I must buy magnifying glass. Work will be easier. Quote
Slurpifier Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Really amazing effort at this. Would you mind if, I had a go at this, I could post my attempts here of it? Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Good idea. I wonder if one could do the same with the red Imperial Shocktroopers. Could get a bit tricky with the shins but the helmet looks not much worse than those of the battle damaged Stormies. Quote
La Chupacabra Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 It is impossible to do it because red color is put on "primary" black print. Quote
Junior Shark Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Hey Chupacabra, so I was reading this thread (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=25491) and Hinckley recommends putting the cleaned parts in a solution to prevent discoloration. Have you had any long-term discoloration issues with your cleaned stormtroopers? Quote
La Chupacabra Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 No. Because I have done my work only month ago and I keep my Stormies in closet. Quote
