I meant in terms of coolness ;-) . Orcs are cooler than Dwarves, Crownies are cooler than skellies ;-) :-P .

Good question actually! How DO you beat a Skellie??? It has no vital organs and is already dead, even if you smash its bones, wouldn't it just put itself together again? *wacko*

what with? super glue? :-D

LOL, I don't think they had super glue in medieval times. :-D But seriously, it's not like skeletons are that solid to begin with! I doubt that any could stay upright or even whole without some aid, let alone that they start walking around. So who says the magic used by the wizard to animate the skeletons stops working after a skeleton gets smashed apart...

Sounds like Pirates of the Caribbean now. :-P I guess you could either smash the skellie to tiny bits or destroy the magic that keeps them walking... but what do I know!

I'm not even certain if I posted here yet, but I'm going for orcs for the MiniFig-sized ones, even though it's taken right out of Tolkien. But then again, so is most fantasy of this kind. *sweet* If it was folklore-based instead (now THAT would be great!), trolls would fit better.

Sounds like a great concept for a vig contest: How to kill a Skellie! >:-) Would you like to TheFrisian, or shall I?...

Traditionally they are beaten with blunt objects, like hammers or maces. According to the Book (AD&D DM Guide 1979, p211);

sharp weapons cause half damage only

Go right ahead Hinckley! This is going to be quite interesting.... :-D

Interesting, will that actually undo the magic that brought the undead to life?

Oddly, the answer seems to be yes. *wacko* Perhaps the magic is localised to the joints! :-P

So then whacking really is the answer... 8-|

And you already knew it all the way.... I guess you prepared yourself your whole

life just for the time the Skellies came out to play, without realizing that this is what

LOL!!! :-D Well, there you have it... from now on, we'll just refer to them as Orcs! And the big guys are Trolls.

Somehow, the outcome of this poll doesn't surprise me that much :-D

I was about to mention the good old fashioned boomstick.

But then I remembered the final scenes of "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" where the Germans (Fur der Vaterland) are fighting off the reanimated suits of armour and clothing...

So, smacking them with a large, heavy weapon suits me fine! Pass me the Claymore.
