Thanks *sweet* . I really like it too, ecept the coloring could use a bit more shading etc. but I really suck at coloring with Photoshop :-$ . ORCS pwn Dwarves X-D , but Crownies pwn Skeletons X-D !!!
Purple haired wizards pwn orcs and Crownies.

Technically Goblin is a colloquial term for Orc - so they are in essence the same thing.

However I always picture Orcs as having green skin and Goblins with grey so my vote is Orc.

Troll Warriors?????

Really ? Thats how they call them ? Then its :-X Therefore I retract my preceding statment :-P

At the end of the day I'll use the terminology written on the box art and intended by TLC ;-)

NO !! At the end of the day I'll call them Goblin :-P

But perhaps "Troll Warriors" simply means the minifigs are warriors under the command of the Trolls.

Sorta like the ancient Roman Militia - which was made up of mostly non-Roman ethnic groups.

Hmmm........

that's interesting. i watched king arthur last weekend after keeping the dvd in shrink wrap for the longest time ever. interesting theory about sarmatian warriors = knights. :-P in the end, the story is too cliche and silly.

But those guys have sand green skin, red eyes, fangs...they HAVE to be somehow realted to goblins, trolls or orcs.

Yoda's a goblin, Hinckley's a troll, KhoRne's an orc, Shakar is a bird...this is getting confusing.

We can call them Pixies if that would be more logical :-P X-D ;-)

But then shouldn't they be pink? Or have wings? :-P They look like Goblins or Orcs to me...

They should be called orcs. :-P

At least to popular opinion. i'm seeing orcs at 48 with the next closest one being at 24.

So thats a pretty clear indicator of what the fans think.

But what I get out of this is another example of how out of tune TLG is with AFOL's.

If they had named the small ones orcs and the large ones trolls we would not be having this debate right now. If Lego had gone up to basically anyone except the people that work there and asked them out of the blue what to call the two different minifigs, 98% of people would have said small=orcs, large=trolls.

I know i would.

But now that they named both the figs trolls the waters are now muddled.

If you as a company are going to rely in part on pop-culture to sell a product then you have to be in tune with pop-culture which TLG has a knack for failing miserably at. *wacko*

But the point remains that its a failure on TLG's part to properly name thier creatures.

The name Troll for two obviously very different things? C'mon lego. :-/

The word orc itself is not copyrighted.

It would be a copyright issue if lego tried to replicate a product that has a copyright on it, i.e. LOTR characters or D&D creatures.

But if you create an entirely new product you can name it what you want.

Strewth! I think that's a bit harsh. X-O I just think that this poll is biased because of that badly done movie series that focused on average CG over that stuff called dialog. (I loved the first one, but the others I can only tollerate if I skip half the scenes.) IMHO Orc is a word that is linked with LOTR too strongly, and if Lego called them orcs then they would be accused of trying to cash in on it, and possibly even get sued. Personally I think they are called Troll warriors to make the factions more clear to kids, who are the main target for Lego afterall. AFOLs will call them what they want, and Lego know this. I thought this poll was just for fun... 8-|

You seem to see this everywhere Johnny 5. 8-| LEGO produced a great castle line. I don't think naming the Orcs the wrong thing or something that didn't win a popular vote in and AFOL poll after the fact is reason to lambast them. They've done a lot right with this line. If we had a poll to name the Mars Mission aliens, Jelly babies would win and I doubt LEGO would ever think of using that...

Ease up on TLG, buddy. They do make your favorite toy after all.

:-P

They didn't necessarily have to be called orcs, call them goblins or something else but why have two troll thingies that look very different?

Makes me feel loopy. *wacko*

But i do agree about Fellowship being the best movie though.

I think i just might watch it now... 8-

True everything was fantastic except this...

and this is my only bone to pick with this line.

i still love the figs though

i'm gonna have a bunch by the end year hopefully *sweet*

they would look really menacing side by side.

"Troll Warriors" on

Your right I do need to ease up. All of lego's faults and many they are, are outweighed by a single 2x4 brick.

Ahh... The glorious brick.

Plus I'm a little grumpy today sry

I have 2 of them sitting in front of my computer right now... Anyway if you think of how many things have Orc in them right now, people will just look at something in a fantasy genre with big teeth and are green and call them 'orc'. It's amazing how many things Tolkien spawned when thinking of them...

I personally need more Crownies in my army, but Troll warriors (or Orcs) would certainly look cool in ranks of five... Against my Crown army...

My one gripe about the dwarves is that I think they won't look good in an army. I might be wrong, but legions of the undead look better in swathes, as do knights, but Dwarves have beards that will look all the same, and since when were Dwarves in large numbers anyway?

But it seems that we don't get many Dwarves anyway, I just think that wave1 had factions more suited to army building ;-)
