Serhio Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Hi there! I hope not too late to create a discussion. I decided to build a fire truck with a ladder or bucket lift. Yet ready only cabin and frame with wheels. Some more pictures: front view doors open, seats and steering wheel inside Quote
zweihander Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I like the cabin, looks a bit retro :) And good choice of wheels, really in scale with the rest of the body. Quote
lcvisser Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 That cab looks really good. I'm not too sure about the light gray window frame... maybe it can also be red and leave only the mirrors and grille light gray? Considering the retro look I think a ladder would look really good on it Quote
Serhio Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 Unfortunately I do not have red axial connectors №3 so I had to make a window frame in gray. Quote
Serhio Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 I found a truck that looks very close to what I imagined. BC-18A on GAZ-3309 chassis. This scale model, but I'm sure there's a real prototype. Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Yes, it looks like real one. Edit: But GAZ-3309 with red cabin is really rare, and i never seen red colored with BC-18.04 like this toy in real life. Edited December 28, 2015 by Victor Imaginator Quote
Serhio Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 I think my cabin is not very similar to the GAZ-3309, so that it does not matter, there is a fire truck like this one or not. I spent half the night for modeling and made retractable legs and a base for the lift. transport position: middle position: fully expanded: worm gear, angular gears and axles: Quote
lcvisser Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Very nice and compact! I like all the little details too, like the tow ball on the rear bumper. Keep going! Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Very nice design...keep it up!!! Quote
muffinbrick Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I like this old school look and also all those details. Compact, but full of functions just in right scale. Quote
Serhio Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Another sleepless night, and I completed the lift with a basket (or a bucket?). I had to lengthen the handle (HOG) on the roof, because otherwise the boom is not allowed to twist it. The lift rises by two actuators (large and small) and rotates on the turntable. Maximum lifting height of about 50 cm. The model fits into the frame with a size of 15 * 18 * 37 (9990 cubic stud), and there is a small margin (about 1 stud) in length and height. I think this is the final version, and there is nothing more to improve. I ask your advice on how to better: frame the entire gray or red side stand? I am inclined to the version with red stands. pgplay Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) This is beautiful, especially love the atm and the way it' expanding. Edited December 29, 2015 by pgplay Quote
Serhio Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) Мy son (4.5 years old) tested the model on the playability, durability, handleability and was completely satisfied. I believe that it is necessary to have a break for New Year holidays, and begin to build a model B next year. Edited December 30, 2015 by Serhio Quote
super-jaschka Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 WOW! I am not alone, people love the old forms of cars. I noticed two actuator on the elevator may be a problem with the construction of the B-model. And if you replace a little actuator on the beam? Look at my fire truck (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=105853) Quote

And if you replace a little actuator on the beam? I do not see any problem. in extreme cases B-model can be assembled with a single actuator, and the second will remain in reserve. Look at my fire truck (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=105853) I am surprised.I did not expect that someone has already built almost the same model. Moreover, with only one actuator for the boom. Serhio Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 I made some improvements, and recorded a video showing the mechanical functions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fh88CawPtIE Quote
lcvisser Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I really really like this. It looks really good and has good functionality. I think "playability" would improve if the boom would use only one LA though. It seems a bit awkward to have to turn two knobs for one function. One of my favourites, curious to see the B-model! Serhio Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Finally, I took courage, and fully disassembled model A. Before that, I made the final photos and video. Now, I quickly build a model B, and everything will be done ) Edited January 21, 2016 by Serhio Quote
Lakop Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Great fire truck, love the size. Good work. H Quote
lcvisser Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I feel your pain After I completed the B-model and took pictures, I quickly reassembled the A-model Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Love this one really very much!!! Quote
Serhio Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 (edited) I have seen progress in the construction of model B: I hope have time to finish on time. Edited January 31, 2016 by Serhio Quote
zweihander Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 What's it gonna be? I'm curious after that awesome a-model. Quote
