Posted December 29, 20159 yr I have just gotten back into lego and i am completely hooked!, I have currently bought a 42030 (volvo front end loader) and 2 42042 (crawler crane) set's, so my part collections is still pretty small. What are some good, relitively cheaps et's to buy for parts? I plan to buy another 42030 as it has an awesome complement of power functions parts and 3 large LA's (and I am planning to build a crawler crane which will need to power functions parts)
December 29, 20159 yr 42009 and 42043 are also good sets for parts in a price range of 42030. 42009 has 2 large LA-s and 4 mini LA's + loads of gears. 42043 has new pneumatics, and with both of them you will receive one L motor also :) Though, 42009 will soon be out, so if you find it in some stocks, i would start with that :) Edited December 29, 20159 yr by Riimak
December 29, 20159 yr The 42025 cargoplane has also a lot of mimi LA's. Also a good stock of white parts. And if you are looking for old skool parts, 8880 and 8460 have a lot of useful parts.
December 29, 20159 yr 42043 is a very good part pack for wheels, suspensions and Pneumatics. And on top of that is one of the best flagships out there !
December 29, 20159 yr In addition to the sets mentioned (great parts packs all!). I would also recommend the 42037, 42038 and 42039 as good sets for parts for wheels, hubs, suspension and shocks. Andy D
December 29, 20159 yr See, if you can get one/some 8285 Truck(s). This thing is huge, has a part count of over 1800 and is not that expensive. I bought two sets for 60€ and 70€ and got loads of black and red liftarms, gears, pin connectors and so on. And if you can get it at a good price, dont hesitate to buy a 8275 Bulldozer. Many yellow parts and a good load of Power Functions.
December 29, 20159 yr Author hmm, it seam's lego is just incredibly expensive in Australia, even a cheap 8285 from EU is over $300 delivered to aus, about the same price as a new 42030
December 30, 20159 yr Go for the oldest set with great amount and unique parts that you can find at low price. Personally and looking at the BL prices, I´d choose the 42009 especially for its yellow parts and a lot gears, pins etc (accordin to your MOC idea). If you can´t afford it, go for the 42025.
December 30, 20159 yr Well, I was curious and had a look at ebay Australia and your equivalent of ebay classifieds, gumtree.com.au. I am completely stunned seeing those prices and how few ads from Australia there actually are. Most items on ebay came from europe and since you get only 67c per Dollar, its not that surprising, all these sets are incredibly expensive to buy. And I haven't counted in postage and possible customs fees. Mate, it looks like you have chosen a very exclusive hobby. :) But don't let that stop you, since it is only a little more effort that is neccessary to get some good deals and bargains.
