Resistance Y-Wing

Hello, not my first MOC but my first that i think is worthy of presenting to other people, i inspired myself of old concept art for a Snowspeed in ESB for the cockpit part, and tried to make the same general shape of a Y-wing why changing it and adding curves, a bit like the new X-wing, less blocky but still recognisable.

I hope you like it !

Nice! I really feel it fills the style of the Ep. VII's technology. Looks like it makes more sense and is sturdier than the original Koensayr BTL design.

Good job in resurrecting an obsolete fighter-bomber and placing it once more in the annals of the good fight against the Dark Side

One of my gripes with the new trilogy is the lack of starfighter variety. Doesn't make much sense that the Resistance only used X-Wings for what was basically a bombing run... no B or Y Wings in sight.

Very very cool, this is probably my favorite Y-wing moc ever. The wings could be a bit bigger/beefier though I think.

This looks brilliant, would love to see this in the resistance colours (ie white/grey and blue, like the x wings and troop transporter) good job.

The Y-wing would have been 50+ years old by TFA, the B-wing was slated to replace it after the OT, so presumably they're all retired. As for the B-wing, perhaps the T-70 fills the role that it was intended for. The rotating cockpit was always problematic, so a cash strapped Republic/Resistance could have retired it as well.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted to see updated versions of my favorite starfihters, but I like to at least attempt to justify why they weren't featured.

Looks good, but maybe use blue instead of the classic yellow for the cockpit area. Would get it maybe more in line with the Resistance X-Wing ;)

Y-Wings were obsolete, yet still used as assault fighters even at the time of old EU's Yuuzhan Vong invasion. I guess the desperate resistance movement would use even the original dated fighters - and we are talking about a refreshed design here

Heh. Considering how little had changed in technology in those thirty years this is a plausible evolution, seeming to add mostly beefier cannons and a smoother overall aesthetic. Maybe EpVIII will add these back in!

Yes the front part was inspired by this
