tfcrafter Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 When I acquired set 9495 when it was released, I thought it was the perfect Y-Wing. A few years later, I decided to do my own version. Here's what I came up with: One important detail I wanted was for the astromech droid to be able to sit perpendicular to the ship: For the engines, I kept the original 9495 nacelle and engine assembly, but bulked it up with several greebled plates. I really liked the bomb-dropping feature of 9495, so I installed it in my MOC. I hope you like it! Quote
Calanon Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 This looks really good! There's so much detail. I initially thought the cockpit area was too wide, but after checking it looks about right. Good work! Quote

Tyutyu Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 (edited) It seems that the body mid section is a little wide but it works. It looks great from the top view, and we reach to the limitations of the available Lego parts for the front because the front is either too flat or too fat looking at it from the side. Im also modding my Y-wing and I chose the fat cockpit/Nose way over the flat approach. I hereby ask for permission to use your mid section and engine mods or at least part of it on my own Y-wing (If I ever complete it) Here is my front section with LDD. Tell me if the link does not work: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xtl1/t31.0-8/12371041_10153790493899246_2867026271682762725_o.jpg Edited January 5, 2016 by Tyutyu Quote
Reputator Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Excellent work! Probably the best Y-Wing I've seen. I like that the astromech sits properly in its socket. If you ever decide to make a LDD file available, should one exist, that would be amazing! Quote

Commander Colt Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I am really enjoying the greebling and the smoothness of the cockpit. I myself have the older 7568 Y-wing, and this is pushing me to look further into rebuilding that into a more coherent model as well! Quote
