9 fingers Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Hello to everyone. Its winter time, and time for make something for driving on the snow. So I did some winter vehicle. Some kind of concept arctic racer, because I love the futuristic cars. In my mind the whole time Arctic Turtle. Because of his looks and speed. and a few pictures. Driven by the 2 xl motors. Connected together, without differentials. all-wheel drive without changing the gear ratio. 1 servo motor for steering. Font axle is independent suspension, rear axle is dragged axle. I made the body so that it can be separated from the chassis. I managed to make the body bent and stable, it was for me the biggest challenge. And the view from the bottom side And the video. thank you for watching. With best regards, Valter Quote
JamesJT Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Cool. Would it work with a set of unimog wheels? Quote
Tomik Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Nice vehicle - I like its shape and bodywork. I think speed is good for such a big thing. You can connect pins to tracks to get better grip. Quote
braker23 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Looks out of this world, very cool bodywork, will check performance later :) Quote
Sylvian Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) That is awesome,.. very nice design and lines,.. my only point of critique would be the area around the rearaxle/XLmotors which seems a bit bulky in red,.. and doesnt do justice to the overall design,.. (which i think is really well executed!) nonetheless its one of the coolest things i've seen lately! Edited January 7, 2016 by Sylvian Quote
MaxSupercars Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 That design is really cool. I like it... :) Max Quote
darsedz Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 excellent body work, very nice and funny design maybe you can also try to change front tracks into simple skids - just to check a speed and performance the red rubber attachments from EV3 will be good upgrade to your track and red /black body :) Quote
ARXD Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 This is the perfect Arctic Turtle! (not Racer) Amazing body design! now I want one too! Quote
KirTech LAB Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The design is awesome but it seems a lack of power. Quote
9 fingers Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 thanx guys. I really like that you like it here is another picture with wheels on it. I dont now. I dont like it . And yes, now it is really very fast. The lack of power is due to the fact that there is too much snow and the car is too low. And yet everything is freezing. At least I think so Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 This is an impressive build, really well done... The topic says ...racer... doesn't this mean it should go a little faster...  Quote
zweihander Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The topic says ...racer... doesn't this mean it should go a little faster...  Haven't you heard the story of the rabbit and the turtle? Quote
Zerobricks Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The shape is really awesepme, it reminds me of a mix of Cadillac and Lamborghini. Having said that I would suggest you few mecahnical improvements: Replace XL motors with L ones for greater speed, because given the track gears are so small you dont need XL motors. Reinforce front suspenison - as I can see only the lower arm carries all the force to the springs, which can easily just pop out the ball pin from the hub. Make steering links parallel with the suspension arms - having these in such angles gives the steering a lot of slack and it just looks untidy. Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Cool shape and coloring... And crammed full with PF without losing the sleek looks: impressive! When I saw the first pics I wondered how it would look with wheels, but I agree with you, they clash badly. You probably have to redesign the whole bodywork to make it flow around the wheels. Still worth a try I would say... Quote
Lakop Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) That's a great looking artic vehicle. Love it. H PS: The wheels don't work on it for me. Edited January 7, 2016 by Horace T Quote
sm 01 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 You had me at first photo... wow! It really looks beautiful! Nice to see a snow racer that isn't a ripsaw. I only wish it could be a little bit faster but it is hard with that weight... Quote
Immo Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I kinda like the wheeled version as well. Maybe bigger wheels in the rear would look better? Anyway, awesome design, very futuristic. Quote
Marcel1980 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 excellent body work, very nice and funny design maybe you can also try to change front tracks into simple skids - just to check a speed and performance the red rubber attachments from EV3 will be good upgrade to your track and red /black body :) What part is that? Quote
sm 01 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Regarding wheeled version, I think it could look much better with a different wheel/tire combination. For example, something like this (custom tires 1.9" 108mm*36mm with black wheels): All in all, great work! Quote
BusterHaus Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 The tracked version looks great, and it was a good idea to skip differentials (I started skipping them for outdoor models too). The ground clearance could be a little bit better, but it would affect the looks. Very nice job! Quote
JJ2 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Very nice arctic turtle I love the body style. Quote
