I just noticed something. In 2015, we got the Slave 1 and the Tie Fighter, both of which are UCS vehicles. This year (2016) we got Assault on Hoth and the Death Star, both location-based playsets. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but maybe this means we will see two D2C vehicle-based sets next year? The Snowspeeder is a lock, and with us getting two newly released location-based sets I can't see us getting another playset for a couple of years at least. Then again, vehicle-based D2C sets are far more common than location-based ones when it comes to Star Wars.

Personally, I would like a UCS AT-AT or a new Tantive IV (closer to the scale of the original) though I could see TLG updating the 2009 version of the later and releasing it as part of a normal wave.

It's an interesting idea, although I can't think of many good UCS locations... then again I am thinking of a single, consistent build such as the original Cloud City, not little bits like Hoth.

Perhaps they could do a UCS Endor (more of a forest battlefield than the Ewok village), Bespin, Mos Eisley. I can't think of many other iconic locations - Dagobah is a possibility, but it'd just be a hut and some swamp.

I would love to see the Jedi Temple. To me it's the most iconic place from the prequel trilogy, similar to what the Death Star is in the original trilogy.

Whilst it had some memorable scenes, I don't think the structure itself is that iconic. Unlike the Death Star, I am sure many people would struggle to even remember the shape of the building.

Don't narrow your field of hype too much, I'm sure Lego will do plenty of other cool sets beyond the UCS spectrum for the 40th Anniversary. If we just got a UCS Lars Farm I could die happy.

  I got a pretty good laugh out of that! It could come with two burnt corpses and the house

I am guessing one of the two ucs released in 2017 wI'll be the snowspeeder that was pushed back. But I am hoping for a rerelease of the Falcon or star destroyer.

Another UCS Falcon would be nice to have eventually, but I wouldn't want one so soon after we've already had rehashes of the Snowspeeder, Death Star and Hoth base.

I prefer each year limited the two UCS sets to one remake and one thats never been made before.

Judging from the recent trend of rehashed, I literally think it is just a matter of *when*, not *if* the 10179 Mf gets done again. And while I agree it would be nice to uave a totally new set next year, I wouldn't be upset if it was a falcon, but I'm guessing *if* it gets done, it'll either be for 40th anniversary, or the Han solo spin off film.

Tbh I don't want them to do a Falcon, I don't think the old one looks very good - the top surface looks too busy.

I'd like to see a smaller scale Star Destroyer than the last one. I love USC sets, but could never fit a 3 foot long Star Destroyer anywhere.

While I don't think I agree that it looks too busy (I mean, just look at the "real" Millennium Falcon), I'm mystified by your reasoning for not wanting a new one. I'd think dissatisfaction with the old one would be reason to want a new one, not a reason not to.

People seem to be talking about a re-released version, like the Death Star. I don't want one that is essentially the same.

I'm also satisfied enough with the smaller versions they release for around £100 to not feel an urgent need for a much larger version.

Considering how much the updated Death Star costs with 200 more pieces than the original, I think we can count an updated UCS Falcon out. Maybe they could make a smaller version that is still larger and more detailed than the TFA version, but no way they will go above the Death Star's $500 price tag (which I believe is equal to the UCS Falcon?). I think a new UCS Star Destroyer is a possibility though.

As someone who yearned for a 10030 and 10179 for so long and resorted to the secondary market / bricklink eventually, I now sort of understand the people who say they shouldn't remake them, the same people who had the sets from the beginning. It would be easy to become bitter if the price flopped, but I imagine it would rebound eventually.

However, it would be foolish for TLG not to remake or try these sets again, as I'm sure anyone who has built either would agree they wouldn't pass today's quality control in terms of fragility.

I just hope that whatever else it is, the upcoming new UCS snowspeeder set is gray.

I don't think the 2015 Slave 1 deserves the UCS label. There are a couple of glaring screwups that make me say that one needs a revised rerelease ASAP. And ideally LEGO should offer a correction kit for people who have the 2015 version.

And speaking of do-overs.. I hope we get a real UCS Naboo Starfighter.

Fiskum's UCS X34 Landspeeder reached the review stage on Lego ideas. It would be great to see it as an official Ideas set in 2017, and possibly appease those who feel cheated by the most recent UCS slots taken up by Hoth and a mildly updated Death Star. Unfortunately it's not likely to happen though given the recent changes to Ideas guidelines i.e. No large piece count sets and no existing licences.

Obvious sets we haven't had yet:

A-Wing

AT-AT

Landspeeder

GR-75

Nebulon B

Mon Cal. Star Cruiser

The only larger OT Rebel ship we have gotten is the Corelian Corvette. The other ones seem to be too hard to create while being sturdy enough for TLG's standards. The same goes for a potential UCS AT-AT I think. The Landspeeder would be obvious, but perhaps it is too small to get an UCS treatment.

This leads me to the A-wing. Why we haven't already gotten it, I do not know.

However, I think we will probably get a new Blockade Runner. The old UCS version was very large, but woefully disproportionate and bulky. The large play set, that came a few years later was much better, but a bit too small to be in the UCS league. The Blockade Runner would also fit very well with the 40 years anniversary - but so would a new Falcon ;)

^ I'm sure any Lego produced GR-75 or Neb-B be found very wanting compared to your excellent models!! Which reminds to get back to work on the Frigate.

The "existing licenses" update applies only to licenses that have already gotten sets approved via LEGO Ideas (e.g., Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Doctor Who, WALL•E, etc.).

Star Wars hasn't yet had any Ideas sets approved, so it's still officially eligible for Ideas consideration (if it weren't, they would have archived all remaining extant Star Wars projects and stopped accepting new ones, as they have now done with those other licenses).
