kabel Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 When Renato Filamento was informed by Ivo Fortesque about the new island he had discoverd not far from Nelissa, he imediatly had to go and see for himself. And after a voyage that was much faster than Fortesque's 15 days he landed with a crew of hearty explores on the beaches of Berelli himself. However, when he landed there was no trace of the natives Fortesque had told him about. Instead, he was faced with a seemingly inpenetrable rain forest that rose just a few meters behind the beach. What Renato Filamento did not know at this point yet was that rowdy explorers from Oleon had forced their way onto the new island forcefully and thus scared away all the natives that, until recently, had been living close to the sea. On the contrary, as the true humanist that he was, Renato Filamento instructed his men to be careful with their weapons and not shoot or stab anyone until they had his permission to do so. This of course was not met with much enthusiasm by his men, but the Eslandolan viceroy was convinced that if they ever wanted to trade with the people living on this island they would have to treat them with utter friendliness. "No unessecary violence in the name of our good king Fernando Augusto!" he told his men. The Eslandolans' landing on the beach had not gone unnoticed though. Chabuyab, a young worrier of the Xibenyah tribe, and deadly master at the bow, was observing the crew from a save distance. These strangely clad men did not seem as unfriendly as those others that had been able to control the thunder and had forced their way into their village. Before they could know he would be able to shoot at least all four of them and leave unnoticed before others, still out at the swimming house, would be able to help their comrades. However, Chabuyab thought it wise and not shoot as long as these foreigners remainded peaceful themselves ... Quote
blackdeathgr Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) You know i am still laughing, right??? Come on, we Oleanders are friendly too :P We haven't slaughtered any native (yet)! Excellent build as always and a brilliant example of beach and rain forest building technique. Btw the soldiers are grumpy due to the "no-killing-natives" command, i guess... Captain Dee Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 That's a beautiful beach landing and jungle scene. I like the water technique and the little waves lapping at their feet. The edge of the jungle is fantastic with the different trees, vines and other plants and the big rock formation does make it all seem big and imposing. The beach is pretty good too - I assume the white rounds are supposed to be seashells? Very good take on the challenge, and good story with the native peaking out from the jungle. Aaand that's my 1000th post on Eurobricks. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Very fine build - and this one has very good terrain too (some people do not pay so much attention to that green stuff ... ) "No unnecessary violence" - a good approach. Quote
Gideon Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Sweet landscaping, especially the vegetation Your presentation is also great, I especially like the last pic when I spotted the native I missed when looking at the first two pictures! Quote
TitusV Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Very good build, especially the vegetation! Nice approach too: no violence means more trade, more trade more DB's! Quote
Captain Genaro Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Great job, the native is well hidden (I completely missed his at first), and I like the vines/foliage growing along the rocks. As previously mentioned, the white and brown plates look a little odd, but I'm assuming those are supposed to be seashells. Quote
kabel Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 Thanks a lot y'all! Like I've said before, I'm really glad I'm back to mocing again! Come on, we Oleanders are friendly too :P We haven't slaughtered any native (yet)! (...) Btw the soldiers are grumpy due to the "no-killing-natives" command, i guess... yeah right, friendly Oleanders, doesn't look like it so far ... And yeah, the troops are annoyed, glad you caught that! I assume the white rounds are supposed to be seashells? Aaand that's my 1000th post on Eurobricks. yes, the white plates are meant to represent seashells, which is what I found the beach to be littered with the one time I was at the Carribean in Mexico. The brown plates are actually meant to be pieces of drift wood. So, I know it looks a bit strange, any better ideas though? Your presentation is also great I like the sound of that Gideon, especially since you are usually a hard to please critic - which I really appreciate though! And yes, I build the jungle so that it would be hard to spot the native. I kinda ran out of vegetation though, otherwise the jungle would have been even denser! Very good build, especially the vegetation! Nice approach too: no violence means more trade, more trade more DB's! yeah, that's the Eslandolan way mate! Quote
Bregir Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Beautiful scene, Kabel. The landscaping is great, and I too didn't see the native before the last picture. I like the diverse vegetation, and I figured the seashells immediately! (The brown driftwood pieces was lost on me, though... ) "No unnecessary violence" is only a question of necessity... Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Lovely vegetation! The parrot is a nice touch! Quote
kabel Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 thanks mateys ... yeah, the parrot is a lovely piece and I would have put more on the tree, had my kids not hidden most of them! Quote
