tweedbean Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) Hi all, when I was little, late 80's, early 90's I had tonnes of lego, it was the best thing ever. I thought it had gone to the tip after it went into my parents loft during my teenage years. However my parents had a clear out last year and out it came. Theres loads of bricks from sets from the 80's and 90's. It has come time to sell it on and put the funds towards my other passion which is cars. I have listed a lot of the mini figures, animals and base plates on ebay which are selling well, link removed However I am now left with a lot of bricks and other misc pieces. I am after advice on how to sell the collection? By colour and weight? One big job lot? Individual blocks? Should I go through and pull certain rare bricks out and sell the rest in lots? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance, here are some pics of the bits left: 12517207_10153320885198372_897550594_o by James Baker, on Flickr 12544877_10153320885358372_32802266_o by James Baker, on Flickr 12562572_10153320885273372_1099973040_o by James Baker, on Flickr 12528349_10153320885448372_835952872_o by James Baker, on Flickr 12421918_10153320885378372_1334450682_o by James Baker, on Flickr 12557038_10153320885463372_1957148864_o by James Baker, on Flickr Edited January 16, 2016 by Rick
Immo Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I'd sort the lot into themes. The worst thing that happens to auctions/classifieds is when someone sells sorts of, let's say, 20 parts, among which there are those two you desperately need and eighteen you have no use for. I mean, it's a good business to the seller in theory, but scares many potential buyers away. With that said, I'd buy half of the stuff you have over there if I had the money
tweedbean Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 When you say themes do you mean doors, arches etc? Or castles, space, city etc? If so I guess with blocks theres going to be a lot of generic bricks and small plates.
Immo Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Themes = Castle, Space, City... For example, those "hill" parts plus all that connects to castle theme + all black and gray pieces that could serve as filling.
tweedbean Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the advice, I have sorted as best I can into themes and what was left went into bulk packs by colour and weight. Over 40 listings now on ebay if anyone is interested: link removed Edited January 16, 2016 by Rick
