Another build to expanse Hoth Battle THE BOX Front 75138 - 001 by Marek, on Flickr The Box is standard for SW theme, this year it shows Kylo Ren in upper right corner (it is the same artwork as in Episode 7 sets from last year). Gun turrent and battle in action. Minifigures included in set in lower right corner. There is also Disney Logo in lower left corner. Back 75138 - 002 by Marek, on Flickr Shows play features. What wepons and utensils included. Also some nice schematics of gun turrent in upper right corner. Upper Side 75138 - 003 by Marek, on Flickr Shows once again all minfigures with Han Solo in 1:1 scale. CONTENT Inside we have 2 numbered bags (first one is a new type), instruction and sticker sheet. 75138 - 004 by Marek, on Flickr Instruction 75138 - 005 by Marek, on Flickr Contains 68 pages, it is easy to follow, there are also parts list and advertisement pages. Sticker Sheet 75138 - 006 by Marek, on Flickr Contains only 2 stickers. So isn’t very annoying and add nice details to mainly white model. Content of Bag 1 75138 - 007 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 008 by Marek, on Flickr Content of Bag 2 75138 - 009 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 010 by Marek, on Flickr There are mainly part in white and light bluish gray. Not so diverse color variability. There is one new part. 75138 - 011 by Marek, on Flickr Exclusive to this set is new large (6x6) dish with handle in light bluish gray. Mold isn’t such new it appear last year but was printed in all cases. First time is plain without printing. This part could be very useful especially for hatches builds. MINIFIGURES There are 3 included Han Solo, Rebel Trooper and Snowtrooper, plus parts build probe droid . Han Solo and Rebel Trooper are new variants exclusive for this set. Snowtrooper was seen in other sets before. 75138 - 012 by Marek, on Flickr Han Solo 75138 - 013 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 014 by Marek, on Flickr Exclusive new variant for this set. Very similar to previously released, exclusive variant of Hoth Han Solo in brown outfit in polybag, as may the 4th promotion. This one has different head printing, it the same head printing as Endor Han Solo from last year Shuttle Tidirium set. Printing on torso differs by heaving straight belt pattern not arched. There is also difference in color of printing on legs (reddish brown not dark brown). So if someone missed polybag Han Solo now can have it in his brown dark outfit. This is excellent minifig. Rebel Trooper 75138 - 015 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 016 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 017 by Marek, on Flickr It is also updated version. It has the same printing of legs and torso as new Hoth trooper from last SW Advent Calendar, but has different head, which makes it exclusive here. It is also excellent minifig with detailed printing. Snowtrooper 75138 - 018 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 019 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 019 by Marek, on Flickr This version appear before, it was included in two sets till now. Both from 2014: 75049 Snowspeeder, 75054 AT-AT. It is a nice detailed minifigure, I think always welcome by armybuilders. Probe Droid 75138 - 021 by Marek, on Flickr It is a 4th version of this droid, it is build from 22 parts. THE BUILD From the first bag we build main part of snow land and base of gun turrent, there is also Han Solo. From the second bag we finish gun turrent, build tripod gun and probe droid, there are also remaining two minifigures: Rebel Trooper and Snowtrooper. Build is easy. Build from bag one 75138 - 022 by Marek, on Flickr Perimeter can be open or closed 75138 - 023 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 024 by Marek, on Flickr extra parts left 75138 - 025 by Marek, on Flickr Build from bag two 75138 - 026 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 027 by Marek, on Flickr The gun turrent can be rotate using small knob. I like this solution very much. It very easy in construction but make lot of fun. 75138 - 028 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 029 by Marek, on Flickr Under the gun there are two spring shooters 75138 - 030 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 031 by Marek, on Flickr Tripod gun 75138 - 032 by Marek, on Flickr I don’t like this new construction with schooter, it lacks gun tray on line which was in older construction of this gun 75138 - 033 by Marek, on Flickr. Extra parts left 75138 - 034 by Marek, on Flickr Complete build 75138 - 035 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 036 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 037 by Marek, on Flickr 75138 - 038 by Marek, on Flickr SUMMARY Pros - nice selection of minifigures, Han Solo in brown Hoth outfit, Rebel Trooper and Snowtrooper - nice selection of parts - nice play feature, gun turrent rotating solution Cons - stickers, not many but always - design of tripod gun, I like old better. I like this set very much it is nice addition to expand battle of Hoth even more, you can combine it with previous ones, I give it 7.5/10.
January 15, 20169 yr Not a bad set, especially for those of us who have yet to acquire any Hoth scenes. There is good army builder potential even with the Han who can easily be customized into a generic minifig. I would probably go for the Droid Escape and Carbonite Chamber first, but it seems like a decent build.
January 15, 20169 yr Thanks for the review, great photos. It is a great looking set, I guess for those of us who didn't get any of the previous versions. I'm quite fond of the turret sticker actually - it looks pretty neat, but I understand people's dislike of stickers. A great teaser for the upcoming Echo base. BUT - TLGs timing sucks though doesn't it? They've just retired the AT-AT and the Snowspeeder then out pops this set.
January 15, 20169 yr Thanks for the review. This set isn't look too bad and can be a good set for many fans of the Hoth scene in the movie. The turret looks good and the random colors at the base isn't look too bad.
January 15, 20169 yr Nice post Hygrotus. I've read your other reviews and I like that you've stayed true to the Eurobricks style of review. Pictures of completed models are easy to find so I'm glad you included the pictures of parts; in the bags, in a pile, and then neatly sorted. I hope to see more from you.
January 15, 20169 yr Author Thanks I hope to do more reviews. BTW I notice that I doubled the same photo of back of the snowtrooper, second photo shoud be without backpack to show printing. Here it is. 75138 - 020 by Marek, on Flickr
January 15, 20169 yr Nice review! Pretty excited for this set. Makes me regret not picking up 75054 AT-AT while I had the chance. The turret turning function is appreciated, and the new Hoth trooper is awesome. And that 75082 TIE canopy piece in LBG... Lego did a great job with all these smallish OT sets this wave.
May 7, 20168 yr I built my 75138 yesterday and it's a nice little set. Love the new minifigs....although my snowtrooper has a mis print on the helmet : ( and Hoth Han is a great fig for a small set. Can never have enough Hans in the collection! I've modded mine a little..added a few bricks to the trench, and added an extra layer of curved white bricks to the turret. It makes it look a lot better in my opinion. I'll add this set to my Battle of Hoth from 2014 and my Hoth battlepacks
September 23, 20204 yr Hi guys, I am recreating part of the Hoth battle. Among all sets, I was wondering which one has the best gun turret? (or do several sets have the same: for instance, does 75098 has the same as 75138 ?) The set 7749 has some nice minifigs but 75138/75098 seems to have a nicer turret) thanks Edited September 23, 20204 yr by macaron35
