ZCerberus Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Hi all. Sorry for the long absence! Lots has happened since I was last here... I passed the Minnesota state bar exam, moved, and started a new MOC which is the focus of this topic. The Phantom, in case you are curious, is still sail-less for now! Onto the new SHIP OF THE LINE! Leviathan!! It is going to be a combo of the HMS Victory and Soleil Royal, though I do not plan to have another deck over the exposed guns. Anyhow, it is a start! Still early, but here are some snaps!! An overview. Here is shot of the rudder, notice the gears, it moves when the ships wheel is turned. The whole side of the ship is removable to allow access inside. It is loosely held on by magnets, but I am working on a more solid system right now. A few parts will also slide out for more access. That way you can reach interior stairwells and the capstan!! and a shot of the part that slides out. to prove I was planning on forever leaving you, a shot of Phred and I enjoying the build! and a parting shot of some of the details I hope to work in. That's it for now! I am in the middle of a job search, so if the updates are a little slow, please forgive me. I hope to get more done soon!! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 25, 2007 Governor Posted October 25, 2007 Well it's about time you came back! You building a floating hotel? X-D Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Very impressive! Good luck in your job search. Quote
Scouty Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Excellent! Beautiful details. It's good to see you back! Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 Thanks all. I shall try to do a better job of keeping in touch again! Quote
Capn Frank Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 (edited) Z you're back! Congrats on your bar exam mr. lawyer dude *y* The construction on your ship is going along great! Probably wouldn't be going so well if we weren't there to keep your workers in line X-D I'm so glad i'm a part of this You'll be happy to know that i finally found you in my lego collection today! Hmm, what a coincidence 8- Edited October 25, 2007 by phred Quote
Johnny 5 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Oh wow its HUGE!!!! I love how its turning out though. cant wait to see the finished product Whats the difference between lawyers and sharks? :-D :-D :-D Quote
andy_0306uk Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Wow!! Huge ship!! Love how its looking so far. Especially like the way the side can come off to enjoy the details inside. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Great ship so far Czerberus! *y* Love the detail on the inside, maybe you could use some pins to attach the sides? The one thing i would change on the hull is the side, i'd make a small row above the waterline straight, to make it look more round, but that's merely a detail. Good luck on your jobsearch and shipbuilding on!!! X-D Quote
Opproperaar Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Looking nice, very nice indeed *y* I love the way you build ships though honestly, I seriously dislike the massive amounts of black. Such an ugly colour for a ship to be completely painted like that. Other than that, :'-) Quote

I wish I had some way of making the bottom more vertical so the ship appeared more round, only problem is it will then be in the way of the slides. I am trying to figure something out though. Thanks for the advice! Edited October 25, 2007 by phred Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Huzzah! Zcerberus is back. I guess it's gonna be HUGE when finished. Already alot of details in it. I'll be watching this progress closely! Victory on! Quote
Fender Bender Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 just when I thought your ships couldn't get any bigger.. :-) that is a mighty fine boat you've got going there! And the rest of the fleet is still intact? How big will this baby end up being? Quote
Fordo Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Leviathan is going to be simply beautiful like the rest of your work Mr. ZCerberus love the new Dwarfs, I still need to get my copy of Dwarf mining. Quote
Capn Frank Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 How long have you been working on this beautiful monster? You going to show them at any lego conventions? P Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted October 26, 2007 Governor Posted October 26, 2007 Ok, where's an update? I want an update dammit! Give me an update! Quote
Admiral Bejaune Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 its going to be a large ship... I do not like all of the black as well... change the decking colors... other than that it looks good so far.. Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 its going to be a large ship... I do not like all of the black as well... change the decking colors... other than that it looks good so far.. Well if I could wave a magic wand I would probably do the decking in Tan. But I simply do not have enough tan (or even gray) to come even remotely closely to being able to change the color. I would need a few hundred dollars worth of plates to change it!! Quote

But I simply do not have enough tan (or even gray) to come even remotely closely to being able to change the color. I would need a few hundred dollars worth of plates to change it!! I suggest reddish brown plates personally X-O Reason being is that there are more and more stores that have that color of plates and they seem cheaper than tan. On a small BL order i recently received, it was 9.4 cents each for 18 4x8 plates (totaling $1.69). Also spent another $4.75 on 55-60 other rown plates. Just a thought X-D P Edited October 26, 2007 by phred Quote
Col. Whipstick Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Well it's about time you came back! You building a floating hotel? X-D Ugh, I know how that feels... Reason I have no MOC's to offer *sad* Quote

Just a thought X-D Now multiply that by 20 per deck, and then 3 per deck... $101.52 just for the 4 x 8 plates! for the main three decks... then I will need a fore and stern castle, and some non-4 x 8 plates, and some 8 x 8 grills, some with holes in them... merg. I am definitely considering changing the decking color, but it is on a "some day" basis due to the expense! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 28, 2007 Governor Posted October 28, 2007 merg. I am definitely considering changing the decking color, but it is on a "some day" basis due to the expense! Don't cave into peer pressure! PS. Definitely change the the colour of the deck X-D Quote
