Civil War figures added to the group:

Nice Cammo! I never built that Quinjet as I didn't have room to keep it but it looks neat behind all the characters  .

Thought I'd post an update of mine (and yes.. they are still in BrickLink number order. I honestly tried to split them but I couldn't settle on a pattern to follow so number order it is..).

I just snagged the Lego Marvel/DC encyclopedia off Amazon with Batman Figure for like $7 shipped prime to my door. I guess there was a settlement for books on Amazon that was sitting on my account. Score! I love it when I pay half price for a minifig!

Awesome! You've displayed your Crossbones the same was as me haha with a proper gun and no gas mask. I think he looks pretty decent that way.

Couple of pic updates from me after I've added the Ghost Rider and Bridge Battle set minifigs (excluding Spidey.. he's already in another frame).

Yeah, that 'gun' in the official set looked like a hairdryer on fire!

There are some truly impressive collections in this thread!

Some are purist, others are not. If I had any bootleg minifigures, I certainly wouldn't post pictures of them. You never know when Disney (Marvel) or Warner Brothers (DC) are going to set their lawyers/rottweilers on you. You might imagine that they wouldn't for a few minifigures, but you might also have thought that of recording companies and people who downloaded a couple of dodgy tracks and yet they did a few years ago. Action against intellectual property infringement should be proportional to the financial loss incurred but often isn't. Lawyers and the legal system - especially in the US - are excessively heavy-handed and punitive. And I wouldn't bank on the anonymity afforded by EB, Flickr or anywhere else. Unless you're using proxy servers to hide your identity or only ever registering and uploading from a publicly accessible IP address, you can be traced.

Nobody is going to sue fans who have bootleg Lego minifigs in their photos. Nobody.

Yeah that is very extreme, I think you've got more chance of winning the lottery than being done for owning a bootleg minifigure  . I'm pretty sure the illegal side to these sort of things are the people manufacturing and selling them.

That's essentially correct though importing (ordering from abroad) and possession of IP-infringing products may be liable to civil (or less likely criminal) action depending, in part, or your jurisdiction. While it's true that the manufacturers and distributors are more obviously culpable, they're based in China where IP laws are routinely disregarded or unenforced and venal officials turn a blind eye to IP infringements. For IP owners, an alternative to going after the manufacturers/distributors directly is to reduce demand for their products. And one way to do that is to scare consumers with the threat of legal action. Even if such action wouldn't succeed, the prospect of finding oneself with ruinous legal costs would act as a deterrent. Disney/Warner Brothers wouldn't have to win the case. They would just have to cause financial hardship to a few people and publicise it. That tactic would work best in the US where legal expenses are particularly high and losers in civil cases don't pay the winner's costs (as they do in the UK). So if you're outside the US, you're probably safe, but I still wouldn't tempt the hand of fate.

That's never going to happen. There are 3rd party companies based out of China making Transformers, only they never use the "Transformers" name or the character names, but the bots they produce are clearly characters in the TF IP, whether based on the "Generation 1" family or from modern comics or any other TF source. They don't put Autobot or Decepticon logos on them (tho often mold a shaped space on the chest, shoulders, wings, etc where such a sticker--readily available from other vendors and a times from Hasbro itself--could reside). Hasbro/Takara can't go after the manufacturers. It seems like they've asked a couple big vendors not to carry one or two of the 3rd party toys, or the vendors decided not to carry 'em themselves, but that's been exceedingly rare... and while Hasbro's occasionally 'banned' vendors from selling 3rd party toys at the annual BotCon, they've flip-flopped and I've personally been to two where 3rd party toys were allowed to be sold alongside authentic Hasbro product with no penalties. And they've never, ever sued the consumer for purchasing such things. Such an action wouldn't scare consumers; it'd just anger them. The vast majority of 3rd party TFs cover characters that Hasbro had not tackled in years, not in the formats fans wanted. Hasbro knows this, and tho it took them awhile, they're finally getting around to many of those characters themselves (combiners were exceptionally popular as 3rd party toys, and Headmasters & other such characters that are considered more obscure... so Hasbro decided to tackle their own combiners again in Combiner Wars, which proved very popular, and are tackling Headmasters now as well--they know that 3rd party consumers will likely also buy the much-cheaper official Hasbro versions, so everyone wins).

With Lego, many of the bootlegs are characters or versions of characters that Lego hasn't tackled, and may never tackle outside of maybe an SDCC exclusive that only an infinitesimal fraction of Lego fans will ever own. Better a shoddy Bizarro or Mr. Fantastic than no Bizarro or Mr. Fantastic. Even if the bootlegs are of actual characters available in official sets, the quality makes them not worth worrying about. Suing the consumers would accomplish nothing good for Lego. It will never, ever happen.

Let's also consider that if Marvel/Disney/DC etc wanted to go after people who have infringed their ip there are many customisers who produce many MANY figures and sell them publicly on sites such as eBay who are based in the US. Difference being these are invariably printed in genuine Lego but I can guarantee they don't have permission for m the license holders to print figures that are clearly listed as Batman, Iron Man, Spiderman etc.

The bootlegs are produced in China so have some level of protection through ignorance of ip laws but if up holders wanted to be zealous there's plenty of targets in their own country.

Or does that fact they're printed on genuine Lego make it OK to break ip laws?

I buy lots of customs so I hope they're not stopped but there's always that possibility if they wanted to go after everyone.

My army of Batmen.

Nice army of Batman! Do you have any other DC Superheroes?

Thought I'd get this topic back on track!

Anyone else have any pics of their collections to share (bootlegs fully welcome!) - I love seeing them!

Here's some older photos of my DC and Bat related figures. I've got over 40 Batman variants now along with a few more robins etc. I'll get round to photographing them one day.

I love that Red Robin, looks brilliant. And is that Yellow Lantern Batman done simply with using the torso and legs from Sinestro and putting Bats head and cowl on? I'll have a spare Bats next month when I get the killer croc set so tempted to make my own one! You've got some top minifigs Robianco..! A collection to admire for sure!

Thanks! It's become a labour of love.

It's actually a custom printed torso that's a bit different. Kristi at CustomBricks printed it a couple of years ago... The legs are yellow with black dye on the top to make the boots. The Sinestro figure is now the simpler option to modify.

I've actually got the Phoenix Red Robin too now and obviously need the official Red Hood now also.

Another 17 or so Batman figures and there's a couple more about to be released from different customisers.
