GovBroadsword Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 (edited) Now all the image issues are sorted, here are a couple of sets I got out last night: 6773: Alpha Team Helicopter. Quite a nice heli. The original builder messed up putting the stickers on the wings - one is on the underneath and one is on top! 2 Arctic sets: 6814 Ice Tunnelator and 6579 Ice Surfer - missing a couple of bits including (vitally!) the sail! The guy in his green parka is quite cute, otherwise nothing much to say or get excited with about these sets Should be able to post another set in a bit as not many more pieces to find :) Edited February 28, 2016 by GovBroadsword Quote
GovBroadsword Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 (edited) Another from the Egypt theme. 5928 - The Bi-wing Baron I quite like this. It's a neat little plane - a satisfying size and shape. I like the detail behind the propellor Identified due to the large grey base section. Oddly enough I have another one but nothing like the parts to build the other sets it comes in Edited February 28, 2016 by GovBroadsword Quote
Actor Builder Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 That little white rover guy is from Ice Planet, not Arctic, I believe. This has been fun to follow! I've gotten a large lot before but ended up just sorting the pieces instead of building the sets. Quote
geezerman402 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 This box of Lego is basically all sets I owned, or wanted :P Quote
Pedguin Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Wow. So many pieces. So many sets. Amazing. 10/10. Seriously, that looks like a steal. Quote
GovBroadsword Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 (edited) Thank you to everyone for your comments. I'm glad people are finding this fun. I am too. I didn't realise how much as in this box - it's turned out to be a bargain. I've managed to get 2 more sets out recently and others aren't far off. There will still be a good few to come. As the remaining pieces in the mix reduce, it's easier to have an educated guess at what sets are in there when you pick out a piece that was used in (say) 5 - 10 sets. That was mainly how I got these 2 out. 5918 - Scorpion Tracker As I've said before, I like this Egypt theme. Very Tintin/1930s Tutenkamun-esque! I like this car - simple but cute. I like how the map slides perfectly into the recess in the piece. Even if the piece is a bit of a cheat! I managed to find the correct head this time. Makes me think the other one I need might be in there somewhere. No hat again though. I have no brown JT hats but I think I have the correct number of grey versions. Did he come with a grey hat in the UK perhaps? 6813 - Galactic Chief Not really a lot to say about this is there? Just is. Identified due to that block piece the black jets clip onto. Junior Shark Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 This is honestly one of my fave threads here on Eurobricks. Seriously. So incredible that you've found all of these pretty much complete sets. Quote
Actor Builder Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I have no brown JT hats but I think I have the correct number of grey versions. Did he come with a grey hat in the UK perhaps? Grey Johnny Thunder hats? I was under the impression that LEGO didn't make Grey Johnny Thunder hats... Weird. I would love to see a picture of one, if possible. Quote
GovBroadsword Posted March 5, 2016 Author Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) Can't believe others are having fun following. When I first posted I thought it would be just me. Really please people are enjoying this and thank you for letting me know. As it goes, when I came out of my dark ages, I bought an even bigger eBay box. It had loads of instructions but not for many sets that are in there - and the bricks for loads of sets I have instructions for aren't in there. I don't know what happened. Anyway, I still have all the bricks from that lot separate (these 2 buys comprise 99% of the Lego I own!) as I was trying to build everything up and see what I had. I haven't touched it for ages but could make better progress now I know more about Bricklink etc. Anyway, got to finish this one first. This set is the first complete Technic set I've found and built. There are others. Identified as the central white piece is quite rare in white - this was the only option that looked viable. Btw - I have about a dozen of this type and colour of wheel and not sure what they belong to yet! 8810 - Alpha Rider I quite like it - especially the rear suspension feature. 7956 - Ewok Attack Just missing the lances for the front of the scooter and the ladder for the treehouse. I've never seen Star Wars so can't like it or comment on that level - but I think this is a great little treehouse with loads of play value due to the number of ways it can be defended. There is a catapult, a spear that can be stuck out, logs that can be rolled down and a sliding wooden bar thingy. It also hinges outwards so there is almost an inside to it. I like it. VintageLegoEra Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) @GovBroadsword You are living a fantastic real dream with all these nice mixed sets from old and new Era for nice Deal!.....This happens only once in a blue moon Enjoy it and keep it up! BTW, how many sets left?..loool Cheers Edited March 14, 2016 by VintageLegoEra Quote
GovBroadsword Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) I must have at least a dozen sets left. Plenty of big ones. They are proving harder to collect all the bits and there are some I definitely don't have. I see its the double points I've been waiting for online so I'll order the Brick Bank plus as many spare parts as I can that I know I'm missing so far. Managed to find the last remaining bits for this one: 4920 - Rapid Rider Identified due to the unique green printed sloping piece on the front. Bit of a bobbins set IMO Just noticed I forgot to include the brown 'egg' thingy in the picture - but I have it. Edited March 7, 2016 by GovBroadsword Quote
geezerman402 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Plus I want to see these grey Johnny Thunder hats! I know it came in brown and black... Quote
Captain Britain Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 This thread is brilliant.. I haven't posted on here yet but I keep checking back to see what's new and it makes me smile every time! Quote
Actor Builder Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Plus I want to see these grey Johnny Thunder hats! I know it came in brown and black... Yes please! My intrigue is unquenched! I must see the grey hats! Quote
Danorak81 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I get more excited over second hand stuff like this than new sets some times. I was a late 80's/early 90's Lego sets kid, so a lot of the things you've turned out so far really peak my interest. I've had two lots like that to this day: one set was £2 from a charity shop, but ended up like this (which was 99% mint condition but missing all instructions [which have since been sourced]): [/url] ...and the second buy cost me a (air) bit more, but I only wanted one set out of it, so cleaned it, sourced instructions and built everything-sold it all, paid for christmas: There was also fair amount of Aquazone stuff in the second lot, but that never sold so it's gone into my loose Lego. Sorry-hijacking here really, but as I said, I love stuff like this because you don't know what you're getting. It's like Christmas! Super jealous! Enjoy! Quote
GovBroadsword Posted March 20, 2016 Author Posted March 20, 2016 (edited) Hi all Sorry I've been away. Just very busy with work - no time to play. I placed a brick order yesterday and I've managed to build a few small sets today. The bricks I have left are diminishing and there are some clearly some random parts in there for some reason but there are still a good few sets left. This really is the box that keeps on giving! Can't post today's sets as I think Brickshelf is down. I'll try before bed then tomorrow. Btw - Love those sets above - especially the pirates. I love pirates. I suspect most of what has come out of this box will be of little interest to anyone. I'll probably just use the bricks. I'll also post the hats. But on closer look I think they are just standard brim hats - not JT specific. Sorry to have got people excited. Never been familiar with JT Edited March 20, 2016 by GovBroadsword Quote
GovBroadsword Posted March 20, 2016 Author Posted March 20, 2016 8210 - Nitro GTX bike Basically the same as the white one I got out not long ago. 2535 - Formula One car Little mini set. I don't think I have the correct body - so just the head and helmet are sat in the driver's seat! I don't think it matters - many outfits would suit a minifigure driver! Identified from the "1" pattern slope. Getting better at finding these things on Bricklink 6772 - Alpha Team Cruiser Just missing 1 purple 2x1 grill tile. 6259 - Broadside's Brig Yay! Pirates! I knew there were some more pirate sets in there just couldn't quite figure out what. I definitely have a quite a few extra pieces that have come from somewhere - a rope bridge and a white wall piece with red bricks round the window to name a couple. I'm missing a piece for this set but will order it when i can. Also, my yellow wall piece isn't patterned. I have a non-patterned one but not the patterned. Overall, it's not far off! Quote
Junior Shark Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 6259? What a score! That set looks awesome. Quote
Patgeo Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Amasing sets! You have a great treasure there! You remind me a lot of thing now, as i used to own some of the sets you displayed, as i was i child. Nowadays, i have few of them intact, from some others sets, parts are missing or they are disassembled. Quote
newfie675 Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I troll kijiji in Canada for large lego lots. Sometimes you can find some rare sets. Usually by looking up a few of the really unusual pieces you can get an idea of the sets in the lot Quote
kibosh Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I scored a huge box of LEGO last night off Facebook. It's going to take me WEEKS to sort through it and build what I can. I am amazed by your patience and dedication! Quote
GovBroadsword Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 Newfie - I have got better at using Bricklink due to this box. I have identified a lot of sets from unique and rare pieces. Though just to trip me up there seem to be a certain number of parts in the box that clearly belong to a certain set but I don't have 95% of the other pieces! Kibosh - I would love to see your equivalent thread. There is no time limit - just do a bit when you can like I do. It's a labour of Lego love! Quote
kibosh Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Kibosh - I would love to see your equivalent thread. There is no time limit - just do a bit when you can like I do. It's a labour of Lego love! That's a good idea! I'll start a thread in the next few days. I thought I've seen a thread around here where you can post parts, or partial builds, and other members will help identify what set they may have come from. I can't find it though. :-( The box I have has a bunch of partially built sets, but a lot seem to be Ninjago and Chima which I have no knowledge of. Quote
GovBroadsword Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 I have spent some more time sorting the box today. Identified this a bit ago but ordered a missing crossbow so it is now complete. 6004 - Crossbow Cart. Sorry, I know everyone hates Fright Knights! Identifed and built some very old (and basic) sets today. Had no idea they were in there: 6623 - Police Car. Complete. 6641 - 4 Wheelin' Truck Just missing a hand and his cap. 6648 - Dump Truck Complete Quote
