blackdeathgr Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 As my judge i choose the esteemed gentleman Phred "The forager". Prepare to be annihilated! Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 What !? SERIOUSLY ! You are in duel ! I can't imagine it could have duel in this first month ! So go for it... We will see how it's working and of course good luck to you 2 even if I must support Lady Elysabeth (she will crush you ! Don't you have shame to fight with such a good lady ! ;) ) Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Here are the rules for those too lazy to click on the link 1) Duels – Like the economic duels, these can be used to resolve issues as well. These are fought between two builders, and judged by a panel of three judges. A challenger publicly challenges another builder, and the builder can accept or decline. Each builder chooses one judge, and they must agree on the third judge. Judges will receive 2 DB per duel judged, up to 10 DBs / PIPs per month. The duelists agree on an amount of DBs (with a matching number of PIPs) to wager. Winner takes all. Loser receives 2 PIPs for participation. Builders can Duel once a week, but are responsible for reporting their scores to the administrators. And rules for gambling: 5) Gambling – A builder may gamble against another builder over anything, a friendly competition of builds, another two builders’ duel, speculative stock markets, casinos, etc. Any amount of DBs can be gambled, but if lost, the builder also loses PIPs from his/her overall total. Winner of the wager has the responsibility to report the gambling outcome to the administrators through the transaction forms. And where to post transactions! Transaction Form - Use this when you are making payments to another player of faction. This includes selling EGS properties or ships. That said, I would like to bet 5DBs in favor of BLACKDEATHGR winning. Anyone want to take me up on that bet? Quote
Bregir Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I suggest we leave any further discussion of this (including bets) to the dueling thread, when that is posted. Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I think this is best, if one of the parties wants to start a new thread, we can continue discussion there. Corrington thread is not the place for a duel between Oleanders and Eslandolans! :) Quote
blackdeathgr Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Thread coming in a minute Titus will start it. You can also move all duel related posts from here to the new thread if you desire. Quote
Bart Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Interesting! The ability to bet would be fun :) Quote
TitusV Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 I'm sorry guys, but things became pretty lete here in Belgium. you'll het your thread tomorrow morning! Quote
TitusV Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) Word has reached Elysabeth's ears that an Oleander, Hugo d'Offren, has called her a mere merchant. And altough it may be that Lord d'Offren has done this unconsciously, and that he, as Oleander, does not know how Eslandians take offence at being called a "mere merchants", Elysabeth still has decided to challenge him. This gave Hugo quite problem, since he didn't want to fight a women, but also didn't want to lose his honor by backing down for an Eslandian - a women, for that! As such, he has decided to accept the challenge. The two will meet on the field of honor! Esteemed gentleman Hugo d'Offren of Oleon, of the D' Offren family, son of Hermol d'Offren, famous Oleander General VS Lady Elysabeth Drondil, of the House Drondil, mayor of Elysabethtown in name of MAESTRO and explorer by the name of His Majesty, King Fernando-Augusto the VIIth Challenger: Elysabeth of Drondil (TitusV) Challenged: Hugo d'Offren (blackdeathgr) Impartial Judge: Admiral Woodbrose (SkaForHire) Challenger's Judge: Don Isaac Montoya (Bregir) Challenged's Judge: Phred the Forager (Phred) Weapon of Choice: Rapier/Epee Date and Place of Meeting: Nova Terelli, Eslandola, a week from now So, blackdeathgr and me are going to duel, for they of you who don't know how duels are fought here in the world of BoBS, you can find the rules here. We will each build a vignette, and have time for that untill next sunday. After that, the judges will vote on the best entry. Since this duel is about trying out the dueling-mechaniques and especially about fun, we have decided NOT to put any money at stake. Betting is allowed, as long as you can find someone to bet against, and we ask a small fee of the money, so please register all bets here. (Example: X bets for five DBs that blackdeathgr will win. Y accepts the offer. After voting, blackdeathgr wins effectively, so Y makes over 5 DBs to X via the transaction form. After that, X pays 1 DB to me. After all bets, I will divide the betting fees fairly between blackdeathgr and me. In case of un-even numbers, the winner of the duel gets the extra DB) Now I'll leave your guys to bet and thrashtalk further!!! (Could an admin/mod please move all posts concerning this duel from the Corrington thread to this topic?) May the best win!!! Edited January 23, 2016 by TitusV Quote
Garmadon Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 You've done a pretty good job explaining the dueling rules, except that there is no voting involved (that is what the judges are for!) Also, you will probably each need to wager at least 2 DBs on the outcome - the loser will receive 2 DBs for participating, but the winner only takes the wager, so the way you have it right now it would be more profitable to lose! ) Furthermore, I'm a bit confused about the fee on the bets? That would be quite complicated and I don't really think the duelists have any right to charge a fee from the betters! I'll leave the final decision on that head to Ska though Quote
blackdeathgr Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Come on! Let the trashtalking before the duel begin!!! Quote

dr_spock Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 In real-live, I'm a fencer, with the epee. So if it's possible, I'd prefer to use that. 3-4 days is no problem, I need to read the rules too! (don't even know wether we have to MOC or not. I only know it is possible, and that we need 3 judges). Please give me the time too for making a build of my sigfig going back to Nova Terelli (or where you want the duel to take place), 'cause right now she's out in the wilness. I would love to see you guys duel it out in real life with epees. Do you live close to each other in Belgium? You can probably charge pay for view DBs. Quote

But you would probably see me fight with an epee but handling it like Conan the Cimmerian's 2-handed greatsword Quote
Capn Frank Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 ... "force" someone to be my judge Prepare to be Judged. I'm assuming a judge can't bet. Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Betting doesn't seem to be super popular right now as no one has taken me up on mine yet. Maybe everyone is just trying to protect their DBs Quote
Mike S Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I'd rather gamble on trade winds and real estate markets... Quote
TitusV Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 Guys, my part of the story is up! Quote
Bart Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Did Elysabeht of Drondil (TitusV) win? because Hugo d'Offren (blackdeathgr) didn't show up (didn't build something) ? Quote
Bregir Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 As a judge, I am willing to extent the deadline, if this can be agreed. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Ehrm, i... Am negotiating things :-P and be right back shortly :-) Quote
blackdeathgr Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 After much pain and hurry, here is my answer to the Duel: Feast at "The Spin of Fate" Hugo wasn't eager to fight as due to his character, took it lightly as every other thing in his life. Or was arrogant enough and was sure to win? So one day before the duel, he called his friends from the fleet for a drink, at "The Spin of Fate", where the drinks are cold and the girls are hot! The establishment took its name after the wheel (of fortune) that you can see right above the door that leads to the kitchen. That wheel belonged to the first owner of this place that came to the Sea of Storms with all his belongings on a cart. I had tons of fun making this build, which reminded me once more that i am a huge minifig and acessories lover and have the fig-fever. If you see some color deviations, it is because with this MOC, my brick stash is officially depleted with all this building the past month and all i have left is black and gray bricks Since i must participate in some minor exhibitions for LUG reasons AND keep building for BoBS (which i absolutely love) i might have to demolish a MOC or two and i will need your help at keeping two of them. But that's another story for another time and thread. Enjoy and sorry if you have an eye-sore after watching due to dim yellow lighting but couldn't wait till morning (job is killing me! hehehe) Oh, can i also use it as free-build afterwards and licence it as a small tavern? I am not sure so please enlighten me. Thanks again! feast at The Spin of Fate by Spy Tha, on Flickr feast at The Spin of Fate closeup by Spy Tha, on Flickr feast at The Spin of Fate foldout by Spy Tha, on Flickr Quote
TitusV Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Really Nice that IT is unfoldable, and I really love that wheel! Great job! Quote
