Iria Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Forget about the cave said to be hidden behind the skull carved in the rock. Beyond it there are treasures greater than your wildest dreams. Above the tall, rocky cliffs nestled in the dense forest there is a forest temple holding more treasure than all the rest of the treasure of the world combined. But *shhh* this is a secret, which may be as guarded as the treasure itself. When a fierce pirate named Marina learned of this secret, she quickly set sail to Treasure Island with her trusty, reliable companion called Wade. She glanced through her scope up high, and was shocked, for she thought she saw a figure high above. Still she was determined to get the treasure for herself. Most of the cliff sides are too steep to climb, expect for one area. Be careful though, as it is said that barbarians reside within the dense brush and palms. And even if you somehow make it past the barbarians, unspeakable and perhaps unknowable foes await you in the temple. This is my first Pirates Mod-MOC, as well as my first Pirates set. I like the 2015 Treasure Island set, but really wanted to expand it as soon as I got it. I was inspired by this interesting MOC my boyfriend built while I was modifying the set, so I decided to incorporate it: Quote
Captain Dee Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 That is a fabulous recreation of an official set. It's obvious what it's based on and your remake fits the set name so much better. The towering terrain is nice, as are the extra palm trees, but the waterfall pouring from the mouth of the temple is the best feature to my eyes. The bridge, swinging monkey, and extra figs are good additions as well. I've been wanting to redo some of these (lackluster) Pirates sets and this is an excellent example of the type of thing I'd envisioned - only your idea is far more creative and interesting! I especially like the first pic and the last overhead pic, and the part built by your boyfriend is pretty cool too. Good idea to use it here, and tell him we all like it. Great work! Quote

Thank you for the kind words Captain Dee! It was a lot of fun to expand the set, and is my biggest, mostly original creation yet. Quote
Staslegomaster Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Attached stories always make creations more impressive.Such a nostalgic view! This is a small but very picturesque pirate creation with some interesting, eye catching details. It reminds of a few pirate sets of early 1990-s, golden age of LEGO pirates. I can see some pieces from those ages - am I right? I always liked them. The waterfall is perfect.Happy building. Quote

There's nothing old in this creation from the previous and classic Pirates, everything is fresh from last year's collection. I would have loved to some of those older sets, as they had some great designs. And I still need a proper monkey. Quote
iammac Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Marina, did you say? I always knew that Sinbad would end up corrupting a good girl like her... She seems to be doing well on her own feet though! Nice moc, I really like the waterfall using BUWPs (Is that even a term?) Quote
