I still like Stairway to Heaven, but after hearing the song they STOLE it from on Howard Stern's Sirius Satellite radio show, I can't hear it without a certain level of disgust.

Apparently, Led Zeppelin opened for some other band who had a song that was strikingly similar, and there were eye-witness reports of one of the band members taking down notes as it was being played.

(It was the band "Spirit" and the song was "Taurus").

A while later, Led Zeppelin came out with Stairway... and had the balls to not even mention the original creators in the credits. THAT didn't come until a long time after, after lawsuits were filed.

Tickets by ballot only?? Can you imagine how much those suckers are gonna go for on ebay?!?!

well i seem to remember that when it was first announced that they would be playing together again, 14 million people world wide wanted to see them. so i guess a ballot system might just be fair. i just wonder how they'll sound...

Yeah I can definitely imagine that being a problem (and I'm not at all surprised). I guess the ballot system would keep people from buying up tickets for the express purpose of the most profitable scalp in the history of ever :-D

Take... That... Back.

Hahahaha!

I COULD, but every time I heard Spirit's "Taurus"... it'd all come back to me. :-P

(Good thing I didn't mentioned all the OTHER stuff they stole and tried to deny!)

Oh hell. Thieves. They're thieves. TALENTED thieves, but thieves.

Who cares about Zepplin stealing! The first 2 Beatles records had 10 songs on them that they hadn't written (they did credit the makers, though..)

that's a different story, if i'm not mistaken. what made those records so brilliant is the way the beatles created modern pop music with these songs.

X-O

:'-(

How very disappointing...

They still rock though.

Those chords from Stairway are very widely spread and used, so calling it stealing would be farfetched. The Page solo is what makes Stairway anyway.

About the rest, some are indeed quite obvious, although I don't see what's wrong with Dazed and Confused, seeing as how Page was in that band too.

For those who still think Led Zep just stole all their music, I suggest listening to their live album How the West was Won and find out that Jimmy Page really was a genius.

But he's actually (eventually) admitted it lol.

Snagging a lick here and there is "normal", but yeesh... and then the insult of having to get sued before you give credit?

Bleargh.

Robert Plant's later stuff was fun to listen to at the time. Though admittedly, I can't for some reason even attempt to listen to Now and Zen these days. It's too... I dunno. It's aged badly somehow.
