It really is enormous. Not sure where I am going to leave it!

Probably won't keep it on my desk for too long, the Claas seems like a better size as a display model..

Same here. Apparently girlfriend has objections to "bwe as living room center piece"

Can anyone who has this set and the volvo loader take a picture side by side. I'd like to know how big the loader is compared to the bucket wheel. Doesn't matter if its A model or the B(volvo).

I am more interested to see the 42030 Volvo (A model) loader beside the 42055 (B model) screening plant. I can see the bucket will be too wide for the hopper, but not sure if it will reach high enough to tip into it or if it would need a ramp.

Fathers Day is coming up soon in Australia... wonder how I'm going to convince my wife/kids to get me this set...

Looks like the 42055 BWE really sucks at scooping bricks:

Don't seem much different than the real thing scooping up hard material at grade. Pick up may be better against a wall.

Anybody tried GBC soccer balls yet? :classic:

When do you reckon we'll get it here in Australia? I'm waiting for target/Myer to have a good Lego sale as they usually do but who knows when it will hit the shelves.

I've seen online stores saying "Coming Soon - September 2016" ... so it must be pretty close.

Expected mid September in store in NZ, I guess Aus also, in the Aus/ NZ catalogue they are a September release

Unfortunately the bucket wheel stops at the slightest resistance, it's of no use picking up bricks. The only way is throwing bricks in the buckets yourself. ;-)

If you replace the clutch gears with normal gears the bucket wheel will continue to turn when it touches something. Furthermore, the turning speed of the bwe is far too slow. Enough room to mod here. :-)

Ok guys, here's the designer video and looks like the BWE actually works pretty nice - you just have to use the right setup

Here's the TV spot

in the video when they brought the B model, I caught myself smiling - big time. And it looks like there is another challenge (best possible meaning of the word is intended here) to build the mine that will "work" .

Building the mine isn't a challenge. The only challenge you got is spending another 100 euro's for building the mine with bricks. Ofcourse, Lego has enough bricks to put in this video.

So the filter moves up and down during sorting. My guess is that when the small bricks fall to the belt with LAs, they tip the filter so that the other side goes up.

I don't see that, don't the 1x6 thin liftarms stop it tipping?

I get it, I get it now.

I notice that the frequency of the filter tray match the frequency of the 1x5 liftarms on the belt with LAs. So it is those 1x5 LBG liftarms that make the filter tray go up and down. The filter tray feeds directly to that belt.

And when the filter tray goes up, the actual filter made by various 1x2 yellow connectors go down, because of the black 1x6 thin liftarms.

No jiggling up & down - its all done by gravity.

The short conveyor in the hopper bottom transfers the "stones" to the inclined screen.

The large 2 x 2 "stones" can't pass through the screen and roll down the slope onto its discharge conveyor while the 1 x 1 "stones" fall through the gaps in the inclined screen onto its discharge conveyor. Exactly how a full size machine works.

There will be at least 8 - 1/4 gear racks left over plus lots of 5 x 7 frames and other parts.

No jiggling up & down - its all done by gravity.

In the designer's video the filter tray moves up and down. You can see the red bush next to the quadrant gear rack. And as far as I know, even in real machines, the screen / filter has to move back and forth in some way to screen.

I have just finished this massive build, which is my favorite so far. I think It's better than the Arocs för example.

I really made sure to not make any tight connections near the moving parts, and still i didn't work very well. I have now disassembled some parts three times to loosen different axles and such. Now it works about as good as in the designer video, and it's able to scoop some bricks.

So if you are going to build this one, make sure to check very often if the gears can rotate smoothly.

Another thing to check for is slightly bent axles. They may be new and look straight, but you can tell by fitting and axle extender and a long axle then rotating it. It should rotate straight. I noticed an issue with this building the Claas with the long shaft that runs along the bottom, between the PTO's. I just couldn't get it to run completely freely. The issue was indeed a very slightly bent axle.

I hope to get my BWE tomorrow. I'll keep the axle straightness and gear rotation in mind, although I won't keep it permanently assembled. Thanks guys.

Lego is playing 'dirty pool'. Both the A and B models are keepers IMHO. Rec'd my BWE this afternoon and I like it already. The only problem is I like the MAPP just about as well. Glad I ordered two :) They are going to really make a dent in my display space.

My current project is a surface/underground mining operation covering a 60" x 120" area and these two will fit in great.

And this statement was worth starting another topic?
