Wow, that B-model is seriously cool. Even the colour-vomit of the 4 main colours (both greys, yellow, dark blue) works better on this. I mean if I pretend that the white truck isn't there, introducing Yet Another Colour all on its own.

Some will argue that it is 'lame' that many of the A-model pieces are used for aesthetic reasons only - such as the buckets - but for me that just adds to the 'coolness' of it all.

PS: Does it show I just can't get over/past that white truck? I don't really mind that it's included, but why a different main colour scheme? Aren't these structures supposed to be owned by the same company?

Me too. Oh if only i could afford that. And this marks the second set, the first being the Claas, where i'm more impressed by the B-model than the A-model.

Are you seriously buying 2 sets? Isn't dismantling and building again point of Lego? I do it again, and again, meanwhile build fantasy MOC etc. I harldy ever keep models on the shelf for long. My temptation of building does not guarantee them long "life". :-)

B model is amazing. Absolutely amazing.

I am so happy Lego is not stuck with construction vehicles. This break into mining/industrial open lots of new doors. I am very happy.

I would love to see more industrial inspired Technic - even stationary - like assembly line, steelwork, factories. (build it from Technic, put normal bricks in on 1 side, lego city car is finished on the other side - licensed by Toyota)

That's not really colour vomit. Colour vomit is the colouring if pins, gears, axles and so on (also strange colouring of beams so they only have one colour of 13M beam, one colour of 7M beam and so on) to prevent mistakes whilst building. But no matter what colour the model is, you have blue and tan pins everywhere, bright red, tan and gray gears everywhere, it looks like random fleks and streaks of colours that don't fit with the model have just been vomited all over it and it looks horrible. I get it for the smaller sets for younger children, but when you have a near 4000 piece kit, or a Porsche designed to look good and be built by 16+ adults, surely it's kinda silly to continue with that sort of childishness. Heck I didn't want or need it when I was a child!

That crap didn't exist when I was a child! Axles were black, anything Technic was grey (the PROPER grey) and beams only came in a few colours that matched system parts perfectly

I must admit, my first impression on seeing the BWE photos was "woah, they've made a K'nex set!"

Well, with damn near 4000 parts this leaves the Arocs in the dust. I think the most challenging thing about this model is not building it, but finding somewhere to put it.

How I prevent my kids (aged 4 and 6) from talking me into buying this thing? I don't want a Technic set this big, I don't want to spend this much money, I don't want to spend this long building, and I don't want to find space to store it. Already the older one declared he wants this.

That's 180£ down the drain, mate My 7 year old kid emptied his savings so we can buy that thing. NO, interest in Nexo, Ninjago etc

Mine too, but it's funny, it just leaves me cold. Impressive, nice to see things like this in Technic but zero interest to buy, build or own this one On the other hand, I'm 37, maybe I'm too old for plastic toys?

I don't have 500k bricks that I play with several hours each day and I also do not have a BL shop that makes money to buy more bricks from .. eh BL :)

I think one of the biggest challenges with this set is... lifting the freaking box - how much is this going to weigh? Which by the way, could be a good think, it will likely be to heavy for my kids to lift, unless they team-up.

I can't help but think the pricing people are quoting for the BWE is wrong.

BWE 180 pounds

Porsche 250 pounds??!

One would suspect they got the prices around the wrong way there unless there is some crazy functionality packed into that porsche?!?

I mean I hope the BWE is 180, but then I want the Porsche too , and 250 sounds punishing...

When you look at the BWE and Porsche next to each other the BWE doesn't seem so big. We don't know what the parts count of the Porsche is, or whether it has RC or how many motors. But it's pretty darn big and it's not a skeleton of a car. It's pretty dense. If you didn't know the parts count of the BWE which one would you think was more expensive based on that picture? We have conflicting info on the pricing and really even at $325 USD it's 8.2 cents a part. I think it's actually cheaper if it's $325 instead of $240 so I don't buy two of them ;)

I've been reading more (speculation) about the Porsche, and it certainly does sound like I might be off base re the pricing.

The idea of such a huge technic set not being more expensive than the car is still weird to me... partly because that would suggest we're looking at two full on flagship level technic sets this year... This going to be an expensive year for me (assuming I'm able to pick them up) - I actually want to get all the technic sets they showed! (plus Ghost Busters HQ and ahh yeah)

If you have the Cargo Plane and have managed to find a place for it, then BWE will pose little problem.

Whoa Lego made quite a good job designing this although if I would ever buy it, I would extend the main conveyor belt. Anyone else think it reminds us of the bucket wheel excavator in Avatar?

I'd say extending the lower conveyor belt (one without the bucket wheel) would be more reasonable, as doing so makes the model more realistic and proportional.

If possible, you can add some panels to make the tower look leaning, slanting to the back a bit.
