Siegfried Meyer Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) Great work! Can you post some pictures that show the inner of the gearbox? Thank You, will post some later today OK here are some screen shots hope this helps Edited June 20, 2016 by Siegfried Meyer
Jim Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Okay, I think it's pretty safe to say that we will be getting the 2H sets for review, and I happen to be the one reviewing this unique set. So, do you have any questions which you like me to address?
jorgeopesi Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 When?, I don´t need the review I know it is a must have set even without crane, but I want to see it even in the computer.
Jim Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 I will get it asap, but I am not sure when the review can be published. These set don't seem to have an emargo date, which would mean I can publish when ready. I'll keep you guys posted.
Siegfried Meyer Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 You only ever post when you're going to do the review I knew it and now i'll see how close i was with the crane
Ngoc Nguyen Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Hey Jim, I'd appreciate if you can cover the following things in your review: - Is it possible to rotate the cab and rotate the crane at the same time, or is there a mode switch of some sort? - Does the crane bend the supporting liftarms if left with outriggers undeployed? Thanks!
Jim Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 You only ever post when you're going to do the review I knew it and now i'll see how close i was with the crane Let's find out!
Kman860 Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Jim, my question is just if it has a front and rear pto, or just rear?
Jim Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Hey Jim, I'd appreciate if you can cover the following things in your review: Noted. Thanks.
suffocation Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Hi Jim, I'd love to see plenty of shots of the three-way steering mechanism as well as a thorough assessment of its sturdiness. Cheers!
miguev Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Okay, I think it's pretty safe to say that we will be getting the 2H sets for review, and I happen to be the one reviewing this unique set. So, do you have any questions which you like me to address? Tire tread and traction: how do these tires perform in real-life surfaces (dirt, rock, sand, unvarnished wood, etc.) compared to 94.8 mm (4x4 Crawler), 94.3 mm (Unimog), 62.4 mm and (if you have them) Power Puller tires? In other words, which order would you prefer them for an outdoors truck trial competition? Thanks! Looking forward to that review :)
Nazgarot Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 I would like some detailed pictures of the new parts, as well as pictures of the tires/wheels compared to excising ones. It would also be nice if you could make some scale comparisons. Good luck with the review! -ED-
Kman860 Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Also, I have one more question, how hard or soft are the tires?
Lipko Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Okay, I think it's pretty safe to say that we will be getting the 2H sets for review, and I happen to be the one reviewing this unique set. So, do you have any questions which you like me to address? How much slack the steering has, and in relation, how precisely you can steer the model?
Cumulonimbus Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 ... my question is just if it has a front and rear pto, or just rear? As far as I know the real current Claas Xerion series doesn't have a front PTO (based on the Claas website) and only has the option to power front implements by hydraulics. I haven't seen a front PTO on the 42054 and I don't expect one either to be honest.
Jim Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Tire tread and traction: how do these tires perform in real-life surfaces (dirt, rock, sand, unvarnished wood, etc.) compared to 94.8 mm (4x4 Crawler), 94.3 mm (Unimog), 62.4 mm and (if you have them) Power Puller tires? In other words, which order would you prefer them for an outdoors truck trial competition? I have zero experience with Truck Trial, so how would I go about to test the traction? Simply push the model and make a guestimate when the tires slip? Or is there another clever way of doing that?
temporary Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I would like to know if the crane is mounted on a 3 point hitch, and easily can be exchanged for other equipment, or if it is integrated with the tractor.
braker23 Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I have zero experience with Truck Trial, so how would I go about to test the traction? Simply push the model and make a guestimate when the tires slip? Or is there another clever way of doing that? That's fine, what miguev probably wants to ask is if the tires are soft enough. Please compare them with PP wheels, those are ok in terms of softness, while 94.8mm tires are harder. Also, what I would like to know is their grip, for the same purpose, Truck Trial :) Testing traction is not really possible unless you build a crawler and test it on rough terrain. Testing slip is possible, just grab the tire and try to rotate it on the rim. Thanks for your help, I can't wait for your review!
schraubedrin Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 @Jim: If, by chance, you've still got 42030 assembled, you could put the new tires on it an try it on an improvised slope.

jorgeopesi Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 (edited) Make a separated review of the tires only :) Those tires deserve it , the best tires since unimog ones IMO. Edited June 29, 2016 by jorgeopesi
M_longer Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Those tires deserve it , the best tires since unimog ones IMO. TLG should make them also in smaller size. It would trigger tractor building spree ;)
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I have zero experience with Truck Trial... It is quite simple, just go up hill and don't tip...
