VBBN Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I actually like the Spyshot camo, if it is just a placeholder I'll be disappointed (since really the color I would want this car in is black, so leaving the stickers off would give me that option too) With that said the price is no surprise- I know Porshe has been starting to get very stringent with their outside licensing and undoubtedly their partnership has pushed the price up a bit here on such a flagship vehicle.
GoldVillage Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Maybe just some kinda glitch in the video, but here it is
allanp Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I really hope this car is NOT all motors and no 6 speed transmission type of thing, like 8366 supersonic RC but with a cool looking body and an adjustable steering wheel! Maybe just some kinda glitch in the video, but here it is Unless they chose to make the antenna out of a cats whisker and move it around the car as it turns, that's just a seam in the background artwork.
SilenWin Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Personally, I would like to see the Porsche in "Gulf" color scheme. Both these colors are already represented by rich assortment of panels. It's also a bright and original colors, have not been met in Technic sets and very appropriate to the spirit of the racing cars.

I noticed that, but at very first impression it looked alot like an antenna
bob st-claire Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Gulf oil colours are great. Everything looks better in Gulf oil colours. Fact. :-) But thing to consider is that it is copyrighted colour scheme - property of gulf or whoever owns it - there would have to be another license.
British Bob Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Holy cow! It looks like a Porsche 911! (I think that is probably what it is, but whatevs,) I can't get over how epic it looks! Those rims! Man!
allanp Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Anyone else notice it has 6 of the new wheel arch pieces?
zweihander Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 6? it has 4 on the wheelarches, where are the other two? I don't suppose you meant this, right? If so, it has 10 of those. The new short version of this is also used on the passenger side dashboard.
allanp Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) No, I mean the new wheel arch part. Looks like it uses 4 on the front (two outer and 2 inner). Edited January 27, 2016 by allanp
0RBlT Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Top picture - what is that part that looks like the bottom of a 1x2 LBG brick, above the tire - why would that be there???? Related to a brake function? Bottom picture - looks like some corrugated pearl grey hoses behind the bottom set of red trans lights parts - what are these parts all about??? Related to PF2 components? Related to what looks like L-motors (or maybe a new type of PF2 motor) (as mentioned previously) tucked behind the 3x5 curved panels? I'm sorry but I can't find the link where I saw it, but I do remember that was mentioned a new version of the M motor. So I would suggest that maybe it's in the back we see them. I will certainly try to find a link to this motor, and in confirmation of his words will post the link later.
zweihander Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 No, I mean the new wheel arch part. Looks like it uses 4 on the front (two outer and 2 inner). Ahh, I see it now. Nice spotting!
LucyCol Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 at : 0:37 what is this orange part behind the driver seat near the frame ? regards May be they left a brick separator in whist building
Appie Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Why the hate on purple from alot of people? I'd love it. Some claiming it can't be used for other stuff? Look at the freaking thing. Just about every part ever made in Technic is in there and would then be purple (panel, liftarm, soft axle etc.). So if it is purple, you're set for whatever MOC. If they are going for an official colour,.I personally hope for purple or silver. Wouldn't mind orange, but it's 3rd for me.
Kristof Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I very much doubt that Lego would choose such avantgard approach, leaving these cammo stickers on the final model. If this is going to be regular set (not some Porsche salon exclusive, which still could happen but would be real disappointment for me), I think they will choose a regular color finish. C'mon, even applying all these stickers would be painstaking job anyway :D From all the discussed colors, I think any is possible. I personally would like pure black as well as some brighter one. The argument 'why would they produce panels in black just for prototype...' is not an argument really - Lego often produces colors or even some molds during the development and some of these end up never being used. Regarding PF, anything more than couple PF lights and some motorized-yet-somewhat-manual functions (like door opening, perhaps gear shifting) would be big suprise for me. RC drive for such big car sounds unrealistic to me. Even masterbuilders like Sariel or Sheepo struggle to make the drive functional and maintain decent performaince in their RC models. I think that Lego wouldn't risk that, unless they made some epic new inventions regarding motors and drivetrain. But in the end, I wish I'm proved wrong :D All in all, I wish this will be a regular set and I'm looking forward to finding out the details. I don't think there will me much of a rocket science into it (functional disc brakes... do you really expect that?) but there could be some first time official implementations of mechanizms that we have yet seen just in high end MOCs. I know I won't be able to afford this (unless I win the lootery or something), still I think the price tag can be very well justified so it's to early to complain on it.
cloud Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 In the close ups the new panels appear to have texture not seen in existing parts. To me this indicates that these are prototype parts, and TLG has not committed to the final color yet. I was just thinking that. Many black parts seem to have slight imperfections, but it could also be because the photos are close-ups and with bright lights so imperfections are easy to see. It is certainly possible that for a secretive collector's model lego might mock the set in black, but that would be a first I think. Historically any leaked or partial builds have been in the final colour.
Appie Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Disc brakes might happen, based only on the fact the box says 16+. Sheepo has used disc brakes in many of his models and while I build his Mustang it really is a precise work for them to function and not lock up the wheel when you aren't even touching the brakes. Not hard, but you have to work very precisely. I don't expect the Porsche to have them though, but I love to be surprised. Edited January 27, 2016 by Appie
deehtha Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Everyone is focusing on the exterior color, but has anyone thought about the interior? Plenty of panels in there, including at least one possibly two of the short curved panel. Would they do a realistic color scheme? I've seen all black, black with red trim and seats, and cream/ light tan seats with similar colors on the doors and dash.
Kristof Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 ^ Interior color has been brought up several times :) I know it's quite a lot of reading through 10 pages of comments but you should do before suggesting that something has been missed.
allanp Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I'm not expecting one. I guess it would have to be another Porsche.
cloud Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Has anyone noticed the classic yellow steering gears behind the driver's seat? Why would that be there? I see no obvious place for a HOG back there. A flat 6 boxer is not going to have its cylinders visible so why not put some PF parts in there and model around them to make them look more realistic. My guess at this point is PF for steering, lights, some other automated function. Given the detail level and cost I'm betting 2500 pieces, simple PF, and a nice book about the Porsche akin to the Architecture set only available in the USA. It really feels like a fantastic show piece model for a shelf by your desk. Has anyone else noticed how the speed champion sets have high price to part ratios?
Jay Psi Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Cross-posting from the 2016 thread because I think it's more fitting in here: For me, I really like the dark classy look more than the bright and loud racey look. With class and style, there is no need to scream and shout "LOOK AT ME" with the bright colours. It just knows you're already looking at it because it's gorgeous! It's suave and sophisticated, then you put your foot down and holy crapoly! It's like a classy lady at the party but a freak (in a good way) in the bedroom. That's why for me it needs to be a dark colour. Sexy and effortlessly so (understated). I'm not sure what's suave, classy or understated about a road car with a huge rear wing and a clearly visible rollcage! To me eyes the 911 GT3 is already as in-your-face as a mass produced car can be (i.e. not including limited editions, homologation specials, custom builds, etc.), so bright colours don't bother me in that respect. However, from a parts point of view I would prefer darker colours because they'd be easier to use in conjunction with the panels we already have. More than that though I hope we see these new panels used in more sets from 2017 onwards, which should see them being produced in more colours. Edit - I don't expect to see a B-model either, I don't think that's what this set is for. UCS sets don't usually have B-models, do they? Edited January 27, 2016 by Jay Psi
