Doesn't Lego 42030 also features a Licensed product? Altough I agree that Volvo Construction Equipments isn't as attractive brand as Porsche! For 250€ (original price I think) they offered 2 remotes, 2 receivers, 4 different motors and battery box and 1636 parts (altough except the bucket they were pretty much common).

For you pro's of Technic, have you found many specific/new parts yet that justify such estimated price? Or a special box and a few pages with Porsche story and pictures justify the price?

If this was a supercar from the studded/half studless era, I'd say 1800 would be a good guess (which were around the 1400 parts). But for a full studless model with a size that rivals the BWE for length and other cars build by people here in this scale? Anything below 2500 parts is unrealistic imo and I totally expect 3000 parts at least tbh.

Hardly seen license fees in Technic sets, but going by another poster, Porsche is kind of a fan of licensing fees (RC world), especially since this involves a supercar and not utility vehicles like the Mercedes and Volvo models which can be seen as free advertisement for Mercedes and Volvo utility vehicles.

Well...I've counted 32 parts for the 2 main taillights alone...

Hi,

Again a newbiie question... how heavy licensing will be in total price? For example Lego 75912 is 54,99€ for 551 parts including two 911 with official racing liveries (and logos in the box!) (featuring sponsors like Michelin and Mobil1) wich results in 0,10€ per part... Lego Training Jet transporter (60079) 448 parts retail for 49,99€ wich is roughly 0,9€ per part and Lego Swamp police station (60069) retailing at 69,99€ also has 0,10€ per part (I have compared the Speed Champions with City sets roughly in the same price range).

Cheers

Speed Champions cars have a lot of small pieces to get more details.

City sets are targeted to younger children and have bigger parts for easy building.

If I look at this picture I'd even go as far as to say that the Porsche set is > BWE > Claas > Volvo.

But realistically the Porsche will be around 2600-3100 pieces. I don't think that it will be less than 2500 pieces.

Hm, I just noticed that the Porsche logo is completely missing on the car at this stage.

The Porsche logo is actually a sticker in the real car.

It's not. Its a Metal piece, engraved and coloured. It's a crest.

Making it a sticker in the real-world car would be quite shabby for a upper middle class - luxus car.

That's the normal 911.

The GT3 RS logo IS a sticker. I know it because I have seen one in person.

I will put a picture later.

I'm that other poster. i think for THIS license the fee is substantial, just look at other non-car "Porsche" items. For Mercedes/Volvo it's just a bonus really and the license may just be terms, not financial

But we'll never know ..

Oh i did not know that

This thing is huge, I really hope they don't use the old engine blocks.

Maybe the camshafts are modelled too, then I think the current cylinders might actually fit quite ok.

yes they are as one of the cylinder"head" can be seen on the high definition video posted few pages back where I mentioned to focus at 0:37s of that video. Take note that this Porsche has B6 engine (B=boxer) and thus combination takes more space (horizontal) than V-6 or R-6. Edited by AOW

The size of the pistons will probably be about right for this car. In a real car the engine is made to look much bigger by all the other stuff around it like the valves, exhausts, air intakes and so on, so the engine appears much larger than it really is.

I'm with you on this. I think there are so many opportunities with this set, new cylinders would be great.

Also, that LDD mockup shows plenty of room in front of the rear axle for electronics. #hopeful

Yes, that's basically what I expected! Great news!

Is 3000 the magic number? Are 3000 pieces better than 2999? Would 3001 pieces be even better?

LEGO - only the best is good enough

An update:

3011sti.jpg

Still not a clear idea how the gearbox connects, but boy that is a lot of space in the engine bay.

Maybe building a little more of the suspension would help. It would be cool to get both parts of this model assembled together once they are complete.

But the price per part ratio is the same, or very close, so your statement while true is kind of irrevalent.

Wow, 3000 pieces? This thing better have some neat functions for that size.

hmm, not a good idea to not read EB for 3 days, man it took me over 2 hours to read and to study te pictures etc.

anyway im really exited about the set and it seems to have a lot of functions. who is the designer? or is that unknown?

the gearshift mechanism is really clever. wondering how much speeds it wil have. how much does the real one have?

thanks

So what do you think we will get, non rc with lots of functions, rc drive and steering with rc gearbox, or just rc opening doors and trunk with gearbox for functions like in 8070?

Which will be more likely?

So far, I have seen no clues for PF or RC in the photo's or descriptions, so my money is on a true 8880 reincarnation: a fully manual, as realistic a TECHNICally possible model (and this would make me a very happy AFOL).

I hope it is the first option and a true supercar this time with as many authentic functions as they can do. Do you think colour is final yet for the production car or they can still change it if they realize what most people want?
