LucyCol Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 How about they make it in 4 or 6 colours but still produce the box with the camo pattern car, therefore you have no idea what colour you are getting until you open the box. I can see a lively trade in unwanted colours
nicjasno Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 What about a color sticker on the side? Anyway... i'd rather they would make an interesting suspension/drivetrain setup.
Pomodoro Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) Offical Porsche video with a purple GT3 RS: Lava Orange is the showcased color : http://www.porsche.c...s/uk.aspx#intro Your point is defeated by 8110 and 42030, which both use standard lego colors. 8110 and 42030 are not products that anyone can recognize at first sight. They are well known among enthusiasts, but they have nowhere near the fame of a 911. Also, the colors on 8110 and 42030 are almost exactly the same as the real models. That's not the case for Lava Orange, Lego's Bright Orange (id-106) is not red enough IMO. Finally, this set seems to be given some sort of exclusive treatment so far, I don't see why TLG would not issue a new color for it, never to be seen again. Edited February 9, 2016 by Pomodoro
syclone Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) The 1H Kart uses 3 curved pannels in purple out of the how many different type of panels used in the porsche preview model? The drag racer brought a lot more panels in a new color (blue). How many sets of the porsche will be issued? Won't they be enough to justify whatever new color they want? Actually in the cart there are four panels(sides, front, back) Edited February 9, 2016 by LXF
dhc6twinotter Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) I really hope Lego doesn't introduce a new color for this set. As somebody who buys sets for their parts to use in Mocs, I hope they use existing colors. The Technic line is already becoming too saturated with color choices. That being said, I would welcome silver or gunmetal colors. Colors I would like to see: 1) Black 2) Orange (the existing orange) 3) White (maybe with an accent color) 4) Gunmetal 5) Silver Edited February 9, 2016 by dhc6twinotter
JGW3000 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 41999 introduced a bunch of panels and parts in (at the time) exclusive colors, including metallic silver and dark blue, for a low volume production exclusive set. There is no reason why this can't happen again.
Cumulonimbus Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 41999 introduced a bunch of panels and parts in (at the time) exclusive colors, including metallic silver and dark blue, for a low volume production exclusive set. There is no reason why this can't happen again. You're right, I didn't say it couldn't. I'm just enjoying some speculation and trying to find some clues or hints. Note that in case of the 41999 and the 42050 both colours already existed in non-technic parts. Introducing a completely new color is a much bigger step. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that TLG will choose an existing colour (see here). Could it then be Dark orange if the Porsche must resemble lava orange ? Or is this set so special it really will have a completely new and custom colour?
deehtha Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 That is a good theory, except 42045 has that same piece in blue and the new l shaped panels are in blue and yellow. It isn't too expensive to change colors when you have multiple molds with different color runs.
JJ2 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Have I missed something or have we found out if it is RC or not?
zux Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Purple? How many supercars you can build with that colour?
Zerobricks Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) Call me a gay brony furry if you want, but I would love a puple supercar! And given the high number of parts and types used in this model you could basically make any other purple model and not be limited by colors like you are with the go-card at the moment. Also more colors is always good, IF they are in sufficient number of different not-to exclusive parts. Perosonally I would like combine purple, lime and orange to make some really trippy creations Edited February 9, 2016 by Zblj
Kaanere Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I think that this car should aslo appear to car guys, like the Creator licensed cars. So I wouldn't hope crazy colours.
sm1995 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I agree that the existing orange is no-where close to Lava orange and wouldn't really look good.. On the other hand the purple that was recently introduced in the go-cart looks pretty close to ultraviolet, and would look amazing IMHO.
bob st-claire Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) there are 4 basic factory colours options for real one (unless you want to have custom made one - which is also an option for Porsche). I hope there might be 4 Lego colour options. Simply one or two bags in the box will be different colours according to which one you bought, rest of the parts/bags will be the same. It is not impossible. body colour would be marked on the box. Since there are rumours that Porsche will be available only via official Lego shop, I can't see why that could not be done. (if reviews convince me it is worth 300eur and it is available in purple I will get one - so far I am "out") Purple on sports car is badass and bonkers. Bonkers is good. White or black is boring. Boring is bad. Edited February 9, 2016 by bob st-claire

What if they had already chosen purple in negotiations w/ Porsche, and used the go-cart as a 'test bed' for the shade of purple, as well as to spread the color cost over multiple sets?
AlphaX Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) I think they will go with a colour that is mostly associated with Porsche and can be recognized in combination with its design by someone of the target group. I doubt that they will go for a Purple look, i understand that there probably as many reasons for it as there are against it but i really don't see them going for a violett. They will take a colour that works well with the shapes of the lego model, and appeals to the masses and looks good at the box art. Purple is a very trendy colour, someone who is interested in a white/black car will may not buy such a car, while one who prefers Purple will very likely buy a white/black version as Purple is extremely dependant on the taste of the viewer and mostly seen as a secondary/colour of choice. I could see them doing a white version, with red highlights and brown/black interior - or orange version with black highlights and mainly brown interiour. If its violett/purple it's a no buy for me. Technic already had Purple and Dark Turquoise in its range in late 90's. And I cannot really remember Technic MOCs using them as a major accent in past couple of years. Not sure why there is so hype about the colour now.
thatsmillingguy Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) After reading almost the entire topic it seemed very logical to me for TLG to use a main colour like violet, or lava-red/lava-orange, and also include panels and stickers for a less bright colour scheme. Maybe a racing only version like the gt3 rsr wich already has a lego counterpart that was displayed at different Porsche stands last year. In my opinion this livery does in some way look similar to the prototype because it also has a black-white combination. Maybe this would be an option for those who would like a completely white car and those who liked the prototype livery as they can use the optional stickers. It would be a bit expensive as a b-model though i think. Edited February 9, 2016 by thatsmillingguy
franciscok Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Actually thats a 911RSR not a race track version of GT3RS...And that livery is the factory one (Porsche Inteligent Performance) common also the LMP1 cars.

Interesting thought! They look almost exactly the same, you're getting me hyped! I would buy this set regardless of the colour, but black would be a serious letdown. Black with black wheels would make it look unfinished imo. Red or purple are the top choices for me.

I'm sorry. I couldn't find the exact model name of the car in the picture, but i hope my general idea about the ideal colours was clear enough
Kubavet Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I've seen 2H2016 catalog for retailers. There was bucket wheel excavator, claas xerion and new volvo. There wasn't porsche. I'm affraid that it's going to be some kind of exclusive set.

nerdsforprez Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) For everyone who thought that the stickers were part of the set..... here are some images of real ... soon-to-be-released cars. As you can see..... stuff covering the real color/design of the car. No one in their right mind would think that these cars will really be released as the photos below indicate... http://www.msn.com/e...o-look-forward-to-in-2016-and-beyond/ss-BBoPOVZ?ocid=iehp#image=15 Edited February 10, 2016 by nerdsforprez
Saberwing40k Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Correct, but what if the set is meant to be a test car? that would be an interesting concept, and there could be some parts to make adjustments.
