deehtha Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I don't know about a two tone race color scheme. But the page on Porsche.com for the real car shows it in lava orange. http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/911/911-gt3-rs/
flyboy01 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 well, either way, if there's orange, i'm in.
allanp Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 That lava orange looks closer to Lego red than Lego orange.
Kman860 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I know about the racing colours but I thought we were getting the street version?
jura93 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I know about the racing colours but I thought we were getting the street version? It's not a color, this (Maritini, Gulf, etc.) are factory full car foils for street cars by Porsche.
DrJB Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I'm suddenly wondering if TLG 'might' issue the set with two different color schemes ... to increase sales.
Emmi Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) Hopefully TLG will unveil more about this set during New York Toy Fair this weekend. Edited February 13, 2016 by Emmi
bob st-claire Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 both Martini and Gulf oil livery are licensed too. There would have to be another license. 1) I seriously doubt Lego would use alcohol license - so Martini is out 2) Gulf oil colours are copyright protected and you can use them for your racing car either if Gulf oil sponsors your racing team, or if you pay to Gulf oil (or whoever owns the rights now) neither colours are anyhow Porsche's colours. Lots of famous Porsche racing cars "sports" these colours, but these colours are not Porsche's colours. Lancia used Martini, Williams F1 used Martini, Ford used Gulf oil etc.
franciscok Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 According to the Porsche website the Martini livery is an optional in the 918 spyder. But they state that for legal reasons it's not available in some countries (I suspect middle east and others where alcohol beverages are forbitten).
allanp Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Isn't it available in other colours if you ask for it?
franciscok Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) In the website they only refer 4 "standard" colors (white, gt silver, lava orange and ultraviolet). But they have a "personalization" program, where I'm pretty sure many things can be changed by costumer request. From their website "You can select your Exclusive options at your Porsche Centre or you can visit the Porsche Experience Centre where a Personalisation Consultant can demonstrate many of the different options, such as gear levers, trim and paint using a unique display of samples and personalised cars." Until TLG reveal the selling format we can only speculate it will ever be more than one "official" color for this set. Edited February 13, 2016 by franciscok
Seasider Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 "Personalisation" colour means any colour sir or madam would like on the car. We offer a huge range of colours on the cars I work on and also offer a personalisation colour thing where you can make up your own including colour matching. I think customers have had cars painted to match handbags, dresses, lipstick, all sorts !
Hyagus Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Hi all. This is my first post. My own feelings are, not being a porsche fan, that this set looks pretty awesome. I'd only really go for it in orange tho. Where did the pic without the camo stickers come from? And how many new shape panels are we getting with this set?

deehtha Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) It looks like the only new panels are a 3x7 curved panel and the fender panels Edited February 14, 2016 by deehtha
SNIPE Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 the wedo motor is definetley 6 lengh, like an m motor is The gear shifting mechanism looks very clever and I like the new wheels too!. Judging by the look of this set I think it will have around 2000 parts at the very most. Under the 'hood' is not exactually crammed with connections. the grey parts close to the rear wheels are definetley brick builds as you can see the brick lines. I think black is the best color because it sort of hides where the bodywork gaps are, in lower light conditions. still - nice set!

Not used to have the above mentioned cylinder block, but the 'pin-connected' one is the one I know.
brunojj1 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 NO MOTORS or PF / BT stuff in there and something about 3000 parts - I think it has been figured out from first-hand and no more speculations are needed. But the free (?) color choice speculation seems to be reasonable - if it comes with various sticker sheets...
jonny789 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Hi all, I also kinda hope there won't be power functions for features like opening hood/door etc, but it still bugs me what will be betwen the seats and the engine. It seems to have a very big area, I think it would be a shame if it was left there kinda empty. What if there is some sort of pneumatic compressor system (with an air tank) with which one would be able to adjust the height of the chassis or maybe the spolier angle etc? Very hypothetic i know, but that would be very new and awesome for a supercar.

Not sure of the validity of the statement here but it is a good idea to summarize. If indeed the part count (~3000 pieces) and no pf functions is accurate, I agree with @brunoji - no more speculation is needed.

I have read it here in this thread, written by some trade fair visitor, doesn´t matter. I cannot guarantee if it´s accurate, but for me it´s obvious - there are no indications for motors or whatever. Hopefully we get some new information and pictures so the speculations will end. The exhibitors have achieved their goal to get upmost high customer interest for the flagship. franciscok Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm not very familiar with TLG marketing strategy, but considering the 42039 leaked preliminary images and final product, in my opinion there's a lot that can be still tweaked and modified before the final set is released. In my opinion the camouflage was just a very cunning strategy to divert attention from the fact that the model is far from final. Altought theres been a lot more dreaming than speculating i think there's a lot to be speculated.

Not used to have the above mentioned cylinder block, but the 'pin-connected' one is the one I know. I have not seen proof that it has a cylender block tbh. Both of the motors have pin and stud connections, the we-do motor has 1 less pin but 4 studs on the top. so it is not as tall (slightly) as the pf m motor which is very handy. they both have the same internal motor though.
