KamalMYafi Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 http://www.lego.com/...sche-911-gt3-rs Check the 3rd picture, the one with Uwe. There seems to be a ball joint near the paddle shifts. But on the final model use 87408 (Seen from the Designer Video).
Thirdwigg Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 A discussion that has not yet come up is the special features online that will be available after entering the car's unique serial number. Will it be anything significant, like instructions for a B model, or something less significant like access to more pictures of the development?
Bricksonwheels Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Clearly Lego is looking for the high margin niches and this set is a prime example. It radiates the quality one would expect from an item with the name Porsche on it. If they would ever produce a Bentley set it will be in a luxury case for sure. Its the experience that sells. I am convinced Porsche had a big hand in this. They have a different more exclusive approach then Ferrari who sells their Logo to almost anyone who pais. The color is from a marketing point of view also a good choice. Orange and Lava Orange are very popular Porsche colors and this is possibly the closest thing. They will definitly have not made it red and look like a Ferrari, or camo that looks like something not fully developped yet. This set will sell for sure.
rocklego Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Check the circle marked by green. I am curious that why did the designer decide to have that space between dashboard and front axle?? Do anyone have idea what is that for??
DrJB Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) That's where the orange picnic bag goes, for you and your significant other ... Edited April 30, 2016 by DrJB
KamalMYafi Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) That's where the orange picnic bag goes, for you and your significant other ... Does the picnic bag mean the orange bag? If that mean the orange bag, the the orange bag is on the front of the steering, See this. Edited April 30, 2016 by KamalMYafi
Emmi Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Can someone confirm the review embargo date? Is there sets already being shipped to Jim, Sariel and consorts? For the regular 2H Technic sets we always get a review one month ahead of street date, in this case that would be next week.
krymtON Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) Check the circle marked by green. I am curious that why did the designer decide to have that space between dashboard and front axle?? Do anyone have idea what is that for?? Probably because of the bodywork: Edited April 30, 2016 by krymtON
jgw Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) Probably because of the bodywork: At first sight I tought the same, but later on I saw that under the hood from the bodywork, there is a black arch. And that arch would fit exactly over the gap, so the gap wont be filled. I guess EDIT: Sorry for being so stupid, those arches are for the suspension. Sorry Edited April 30, 2016 by jgw
Emmi Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 yes they are the "paddles" So why does the designer in the designers video use the yellow parts as paddles? I guess you are supposed to use the black part beneath the yellow ones with the rubber bands, right?
davebarrett Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Some set's use illegal technique, see this: Picture from Jamie Berard's Brick Stress. I'm pretty sure the point there was "Here are our mistakes" rather than "It's okay to do this sometimes"
Emmi Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I decided not to apply the stickers that come for the wheel arches, I mean in my opinion it looks better without them. Who agrees with me?
Emmi Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Anyone have any idea how many of this set will be produced? Or is it going to be 20000 like 41999? It will be available exclusively through the official LEGO Shop and LEGO Stores beginning June 1. You will find this set in regular stores beginning August 1. It's NOT limited to a certain number like 41999!
Kaanere Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I decided not to apply the stickers that come for the wheel arches, I mean in my opinion it looks better without them. Who agrees with me? *snip* Well, the front air outtakes are an important thing in the GT3 RS, because they distinguish it from other 911 variants
Emmi Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I still think it's a bit of a shame that LEGO didn't made the Porsche lava orange ... would have looked even better.
Milan Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 ...lava orange ... would have looked even better. And it would cost a lot more than already is.
AlphaX Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I think that the Orange, while not true to the real one, stil looks very pleasing to eye. You do not grow tired of it.
Emmi Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) One thing I noticed ... why did the designer use black instead of orange parts here? Makes absolutely no sense, does it??? Should be an easy fix though ... Edited April 30, 2016 by Emmi
Beard Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 One thing I noticed ... why did the designer use black instead of orange parts here? Makes absolutely no sense, does it??? Should be an easy fix though ... I guess they were just trying to make it look similar to the original one. It has a bit of a same effect as the orange handlebars in the Volvo excavator. Because the parts are too big, they look a little off.
Meatman Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 So why does the designer in the designers video use the yellow parts as paddles? I guess you are supposed to use the black part beneath the yellow ones with the rubber bands, right? It doesn't look like those parts under the yellow parts are very accessible. I wonder how easy it will be to change the gears with the body on?
Aanchir Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) I still think it's a bit of a shame that LEGO didn't made the Porsche lava orange ... would have looked even better. https://dl.dropboxus...lava orange.jpg I don't particularly care about the difference in terms of aesthetics or accuracy, but as a bit of a LEGO color nerd, it would've been really cool if LEGO introduced a new reddish orange color for this set. They haven't really had any reddish orange colors that they've used extensively, aside from the various shades of Nougat (Flesh). That probably would've been way over-budget, though, both in terms of introducing a new brick color and recoloring all the parts to that color. With Bright Orange, at least SOME of the parts are already in production in that color thanks to other sets. Edited April 30, 2016 by Aanchir
AlphaX Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 It doesn't look like those parts under the yellow parts are very accessible. I wonder how easy it will be to change the gears with the body on? I suspect that you will be able to operate the shifters quite easily through the windshield.
DrJB Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Does the picnic bag mean the orange bag? If that mean the orange bag, the the orange bag is on the front of the steering, See this. Thank you. I stand corrected.
Lyichir Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I decided not to apply the stickers that come for the wheel arches, I mean in my opinion it looks better without them. Who agrees with me? Are the decorations on the wheel arches even stickers at all? In the designer video, they were already decorated when showing the new parts... I had assumed that that meant they were actually PRINTED, though I suppose it's possible that they were just pulled off of the already-stickered set. In any case, that's one of those cases where I'd very definitely PREFER stickers, considering that it's a brand-new part that isn't yet available in any other sets, and I'd rather it be available in a solid, undecorated color.
