I don't use decals myself BUT...

Certain mini-figures (such as Imperial Armada, the merchant and the Spanish Pirate with the purple vest) are rare and therefore expensive. So if you wanted to build a vast Imperial Armada army then it would be much cheaper to use decals on green and red torsos.

You may also considered dipping into the EXPANSIVE torso sticker/decal design library we have here for other torso designs. They are very well crafted and will allow you to make some very special, and custom minifigs!!

It would depend on your material as well.

Stickers are a cheap, good way to get decalse onto your torso, but are thick and noticable.

Water-slide decals are a bit more expensive, but provide great results, though, if the decal is played with alot, it might break (I think).

Both ways are great.

I look forward to see what you bring!

i use cheap typing paper and gluesticks :-D

have the print quality at the highest so that the ink soaks into the paper (or sticker X-D ) to help get rid of the white edges when i cut the paper.

I use decals for custom figs (like US Marines of 1812)

otherwise i don't use decals (yet ;-) )

You should probably get it from the store. X-D

Try asking anywhere that sells stationary, art supplies or a large newsagency.
