quilkin Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) Every so often Argos has a '3-for-2' offer on all toys, which is a good time to buy sets (If you can catch them in time). Just wondering if anyone knows other UK stores that have anything similar (i.e. ways to buy sets at a discount from RRP, apart from the occasional discount on an occasional set). (oops) just noticed my title has a typo - should be 'UK' not 'OK', I am interested in United Kingdom stores. Edited January 28, 2016 by quilkin Quote
BlockLogo Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Barnes & Noble in the U.S. has a buy 1 get one half off deal twice a year on toys, and older LEGO sets are usually included in that. Quote
JGW3000 Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 B&N (and ToysRUs as well) typically jack-up the base price during these events, so they your net savings in more like 10 % Quote

I cleaned up on the Age of Ultron, DC and Spidey Sets last year in the summer! Managed to reserve all the sets I was missing and made sure I done it so all the expensive sets got put in one batch so I got the maximum discount. I've found Tesco do some good discounts sometimes but it can be pretty hit and miss if you manage to find one. Amazon tend to price match Argos when they do their 3 for 2 also! I also managed to get some good sets on Amazon Warehouse deals once - they said the boxes were damaged so I ordered 2 sets, one had a bit of a mangled box but nothing missing/damaged and the other was practically mint..! Always worth a browse. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 ASDA never sells at RRP, always under it by at least a little. One example is Sainsbury's had the Boulder Blaster at £25, ASDA has it £22.97. Not a huge drop but a fair enough discount. There is also clearance pricing at times, to make way for new sets. I always get good deals at this time of year. Quote
CptPJs Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I've had half price sets at Tesco and Argos, and found the first wave of Friends £10 sets down to £2 in Asda a while back! John Lewis often has under the RRP prices but doesn't always use the red "Sale" labels, so you have to memorise your RRPs to know if you're getting a good deal. Nowhere is consistently reliable, but keep checking. And I think the website Hot UK Deals is pretty good if you search for Lego. Quote
quilkin Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 Thanks for all suggestions. Tesco have some offers on Friends sets at the moment; they don't interest me but I'll look again at other times. Sainsbury's only seem to sell the small sets. Seems Argos is best when you can catch them. Quote
