Posted January 28, 20169 yr Hello, I am new in the forum und would like to present you my Art Nouveau styled Townhouses (Modular Buildings). First I would like to show you a model-railroad-store with different types of blue coloured bricks. Unfortunately the little trains in the shop window are no LEGO parts. These are parts from Ferrero "Kinder Surprise" / "Kinder Überraschungsei". The second MOC I would like to show you is a version of the 31026 bicycle shop. I made an Art Nouveau styled interpretation with several floral elements and a cast-iron balkonese: Finally I show you my newspaper shop which is a corner building: More pictures on flickr: https://www.flickr.c...157654312622133 Constructive criticism and further ideas are welcome :) Kind regards Kreativer Kombinierer
January 28, 20169 yr Wow! These are so weird but great! I really love them! The style is so cool and different! Great work!
January 28, 20169 yr Wow, that are some real nice buildings you made. Very lovely I like the lamps on the second floor of the first building and the Leadlight above the bicycleshop very much.
January 29, 20169 yr Absolutely fantastic use of color! The facades are very nice too, but my main criticism is that they are too busy. I think the Bike Shop mod has the best mix of ornateness and blandness (not the best choice of word, but just imagine the opposite of ornate). The railroad shop just seems to have too much going on at the front to fall into the pseudo-realistic format of the other modular buildings (unless you don't care about that, in which case I do think that it works in a 'sensory overload' sort of way). The newspaper shop also comes close to having a very nice balance, but I feel that it is missing something in the transition between the second and third floors. I personally would try to separate them more with a layer of light bley bricks directly underneath the tan slopes My recommendation for the buildings in general would be to try and distill what you want to do with the buildings into a few central ideas/bits instead of trying to cram in every detail possible. Less is more! :P But I think one of the ways that the official modulars pull that off is with the use of muted colors in greys, whites, tans, and the more earthy colors.
January 29, 20169 yr Very nice! I love Art Nouveau, and I think you've captured it's curves and design nicely. I disagree with the last poster regarding design, ^Yes there is lot's of details, but Art Nouveau style is all about an abundance and layering of details, for beauty rather than function. I think it's probably one of the more difficult styles to build in Lego. Your blue and green houses are my favourites. The Kinder train was a good non-Lego addition and I love the design of the green roof The blue one kind of reminds me of Bolovia's 'Cholets',
January 29, 20169 yr I love these! Such original builds and structures, and some great parts usage. The sand red sticks out a bit in the row of houses, but it's a colour that is not often used (due to parts availability), so I still like it, even though the pink sign clashes magnificently with the façade . Always wanted to use the colour, as well as bright light yellow. Difficult. Great result. The flowers above the bike shop window are perfect. Keep clicking those bricks together! Your blue and green houses are my favourites. The Kinder train was a good non-Lego addition and I love the design of the green roof The blue one kind of reminds me of Bolovia's 'Cholets', Wow, I love these Cholets! Perfect MOCing material! January 29, 20169 yr Art Nouveau is awesome! We have not had this in a modular yet, and that would be great. I also agree that you did great with the photography and presentation of those excellent models.
January 29, 20169 yr Author Thank you everyone for the comments A Less-is-more-Building ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Objectivity_(architecture) ) is also already planned: An Egyptian Museum in Bauhaus-Style for my City
