Burf2000 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 So this year I want to make an intelligent LEGO Robot that's the size of a human. While I build it I want to take videos of its progress and get feedback etc Here is my progress so far Quote
Beard Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 You do build big stuff. When it's finished, let's make it walk! Quote
JGW3000 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 This is going to be epic - 100 % LEGO, I assume? How much weight? Quote
Burf2000 Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 The Android tablet is not LEGO but yes except the Rotacaster wheels, its 100% LEGO, not sure on weight Quote
oracid Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Your project interests me enormously. In general, reasonable projects do not interest me much. Why do you not persevere in the humanoid with a spinal column like you've already done. There the body looks like a wall and I do not understand where you're going. Quote
BusterHaus Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Very interesting, I'll be keeping an eye on this. Will it fetch a beer once it's complete? Quote
nerdsforprez Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I love your work. For some reason I love large builds. Keep it up..... I will keeps tabs on this project...... Quote
Burf2000 Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Thanks for the feedback, So far I have only done structure so looks and improvements to come :) I am going to keep this going until people are not interested I will probably do a video of testing movement, arm, tablet, and head work. Then we can start looking in to the robot seeing things (OpenCV, PixyCam) Whats peoples views on either making a LEGO Head or one with a InMoov face (example below) Quote
syclone Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Nice project I would prefer a LEGO one, that one is scaring me Quote

Burf2000 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 OK, has anyone done a nice Mindstorms head, I remember seeing a Chappie one Quote
oracid Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) OK, has anyone done a nice Mindstorms head, I remember seeing a Chappie one Not very nice, but... Edited February 2, 2016 by oracid Quote
Burf2000 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Oh that guy is one of my fav builders, so awesome! Quote
Burf2000 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 Sorry for the delay, full speed ahead! Here is a demo of a arm working Quote
MRP_ Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Whats peoples views on either making a LEGO Head or one with a InMoov face (example below) GAAAAAAAH SWEET LORD FOR THE SAKE OF ALL WHO HAVE DIED IN THE UNCANNY VALLEY KILL IT WITH FIRE (if you couldn't guess I think that's kinda creepy) Quote
Burf2000 Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 So here is the current update, it needs to be finished in under 2 weeks. It uses Lejos 0.91 Quote
DrJB Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) Reminds me of a Meccano humanoid, that came out only few months ago. Though it does not have the same 'flexibility' as building with Lego, it has a promising 'brick' and 4 servos ... and you can get it on sale at some Walmart stores for barely $40. http://www.amazon.co...s=meccano robot Edited June 20, 2016 by DrJB Quote
JGW3000 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I've got one similar to the model on the left side, it kinda of works sometimes, also Quote
kolbjha Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Really nice! Have you considered to rotate the "eyes" +/- 90 degrees to give a more horizontal appearance? Quote
Burf2000 Posted June 22, 2016 Author Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) So thanks for the feedback, here is the latest update Edited June 22, 2016 by Burf2000 Quote
Jim Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Keep the updates coming mate! This is such a cool project! Looking forward to seeing this bad boy dressed Quote
syclone Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 (edited) Amazing progress! But I have a question, aren't the shoulders too high? Maybe it is the photo, bit I don't think those EV3 blocks look good up there. Edited June 28, 2016 by LXF Quote
