They look perfect to me; and I think I can even see a monkey in 8158! :-P The windshields look like that are what I have been wanting for a long time! *wub*

(Are we sure these are real though; that last photo is taken on a sheet of cardboard. Shouldn't Lego have a better set-up than that? I hope it is real! :'-) )

Great find, Sam, and very interesting pictures! *y*

I wonder if this is a Christina Ricci MF.... 8-|

Although I guess I would just prefer Susan Sarandon and John Goodman.... :'-)

I was thinking that TLG would have made heavy use of all the curved slopes to give the cars a really curvy, nearly studless look, at least in the front. As it is though, I think they look good. There's no mistaking the Mach 5. I wonder if it'll have some of the car's features from the cartoon, i.e. extending double saw blades in front, the extending jacks, periscope, homing drone(looks like a robotic bird). In the show, the tires would change to super grip, and a dome would extend from somewhere to encapsulate the entire cockpit for underwater adventures. I'd be happy with just the jacks, as that was the signature feature used in almost every episode to catapult the car out of danger, over obstacles, etc. And they used the same sound effect for it in the trailer, too. Cool.

I've never even seen an episode of the Speed Racer cartoon, but the Mach 5 is such an iconic car (up there with the Batmobile, the General Lee, and a few others) that I'll have to pick up at least that set. I wasn't planning on it since we all thought they'd just be Racers, but seeing as how they're minifigized, I'll bite.

I have to say that I am looking forward to these sets, not just because they are quite cool in themselves, but I will be able to kit-bash parts. Curved windscreen for my landspeeder and some more flesh coloured minifigs to increase my range of minifigs that I can use in my Star Wars characters.

I was sure that Hinckley's post was him saying "I just found all these in Chicago! Suck it!!!"

But he was just saying "Awesome!! Thanks Sinner! *wub* "

The more I'm seeing of these, the more I want them. I still don't know if I'll get more than 8158, but I like the look of those cars.

You know, I live in Chicago too, and I NEVER find stuff early. Hinckley has some evil, mystical diviniation ability to see where the new sets are going to pop up first.

Either that, or the Lego store at Woodfield Mall just sucks.

But ... back on topic ... kind of a bummer about all the repeat cars. If you get the whole line, you're stuck with a handful of duplicates. I have no interest in the line (or the movie, for that matter), but the cars do look nice. I like that windshield.

Ha, this time I'm not thanking Hinckley, I'm thanking Sinner! ;-)

Thanks for the pics Sinner! They look amazing, although, Cruncher Block probaly won't be in my list :'-(
