Official Speed Racer Licensed Product in 2008

If I remember correctly, the monkey is named Gleek and appeared in the original cartoons. I was never a fan, so most of it is lost on me. I'm just hoping for nice parts and minifigs, as are a lot of you, I suspect.

Same here. I kind of wish there was a "new products" or at least a "rumours and speculation" forum for this. Maybe with a big disclaimer on it mentioning that all pics and discussions are based on rumours, preliminary information, or idle speculation, and therefore shouldn't be taken too seriously, just in case. LEGO might even like it more that way.

Speed racer looks like a pretty good license overall, except for that truck set, what was going through their minds when they did that blunder I'll never know.

Its all due to that decision to get rid of the MOC forum (which made really sens to me). So now our news site forums are overflooded with MOC topics |-/

Ah I see ;-)

I reckon this will not earn a wave 2 Yoda, being that it is based on a single 2008 film that will be good, but not really a classic. I will be surprised if it does, but I reckon these four sets will be the only sets of Speed Racer.

But you never know :-)

A very good point actually, and a sequel could happen. Maybe a smaller second wave like Spongebob as you said?

At the very most I only see this going two years though :-/

Computer decals! :-X :-X Although these sets are gonna have massive DSS's (or MDSS's if you prefer... X-D), they still look great, nice minifigs, sleek cars that will look fine without the stickers.

Seriously though, the only things that aren't stickers are the torsos and faces (thank God for that...). :-X

Thanks Iron Moose, these pics are great. The minifigs actually look great now, and the cars as always are excellent. However, as my good chum iamded pointed out, sticker hell. Still, these sets are looking fantastic.

Hmmm, I can definitely use the flesh figs for my MOCs. And yay, a monkey! Non-yay: stickers galore. I've been stickering LEGO for years, but they used to print SOME STUFF in the past... Now all we get is blank bricks and stickers.

Finally got round to having more than a glance at those hi-res pics.

So there're a lot of stickers, but the cars themselves are pretty nice, and the minifigs are rather cool. I may not be familiar with Speed Racer, but really I don't care. There are some nice parts in some nice sets.
