Brainbox Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Nice to see some new pics, thanks. Some of the new torsos look pretty nice, and there look to be some decent new parts in there as well. So I can't really comment on things like accuracy without seeing the source material, but I'm impressed. If I like the film, I may get some of these. Quote

Hinckley Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Thank you whung so much for finding those! I'm really excited about that new mudguard piece. They're such an improvement over the latest ones, IMO. Just one 1 x 2 plate attached instead of the 1 x 2 brick and 2 x 2 plate in the current version: The possibilities are now endless! I hope these will look cool in some town building MOCs...They may make some cool arched gables. *sweet* Quote

Still more useful but not as nice as I was hoping. Or are we talking about different pieces? -Tohst Quote
casewindu Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 (edited) I love the new torsos and heads in the grand prix and other sets but I really dispise the size of the cars! The lorry thing is discusting and the grand prix will no doubt be highly expensive! there are other nicers sets that need to be baught this year. Anyone doesnt wont the torsos and heads i will happily pay! ;-) oh and thanks for pics anyway guys! *y* Edited March 21, 2008 by casewindu Quote

I agree, it's still much better than the old mudguard, but definitely different than I first thought. Thanks for pointing that out... *sweet* Quote
Tohst Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I should've mentioned thanks for the pictures as well. These do look like nice little sets. I wasn't expecting much from them but they seem like simple fun builds without random added play features. The cars don't have launchers or bits that fly off. Its very retro in a way. I'm likin' it. -Tohst Quote

farbsman Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) I can confirm this KMART rumor, I picked up 8158 Speed Racer & Snake Oiler today for $20 US. Edited March 23, 2008 by farbsman Quote
farbsman Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) There are a lot of stickers in this set, 32 I believe it was. For some reason I got an extra set of them. If there is a piece you want to see a pic of let me know. They had another set there 8159 Racer X & Taejo Togpkahn but I didn't have any more money to get it. I may go back tomorrow and get it. Siegfried Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Australians! I have spotted the two smaller speed racer sets in Toyworld for $30 AUD, which is the price that I hoped for! *sweet* Quote
Ricecracker Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 TORONTONIANS. if you go to the TRU at Yonge and Eglinton, they have the two large sets! Quote
ExoBuilder Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Virginians: Err, I haven't seen the new Speed Racer sets just yet, but tell me if you do, I'm interested in getting one, thanks! X-D Quote

trooperdavinfelth Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 So the Grand Prix has Speed in his special Prix uniform, but the smaller set with Snake Oiler has him in his classic blue outfit, and the Mach 5 with a windshield and hubcaps. Whereas Cruncher's truck has Taejo in a suit and Racer X(plus two extra minifigs), while the smaller set has Taejo in his uniform and Racer X. What to get, what to get... :-P Just so everyone knows, New Jersey and New York City TRUs have the Grand Prix and Cruncher Block's truck. I'm hoping to go to Target and some other store today to see if they have those three I don't have. *y* Quote
The Brick Rat Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Virginians: Err, I haven't seen the new Speed Racer sets just yet, but tell me if you do, I'm interested in getting one, thanks! X-D Well, I'm not a Virginian, but as your southern neighbor (NC) I can tell you that my local TRU has all four sets in stock. They weren't located in the LEGO aisle though - they were at the front of the store in a big display of Speed Racer mechandise. Ken Quote
Trexxen Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Well, based off of Exobuilder's post: Tennesseeans: They're here at the Knoxville K-Mart. I picked up both the $20 sets. ~Trexxen Quote
