WhiteFang Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Thank you Hinck for the image resize reminder. To all participants, by now, those affected entries should received a PM by me right now. If you think you do not follow my rules and assume that I didn't send a PM to you, I may discover that you are not complying and disqualify you once I closed the entries and prepare for voting. Thus, please don't assume and seek clarification if unsure. Thank you. Quote

Just to be on the safe side, even though I know I picked 1 resolution below max(next above that was above max), is mine ok? : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=120707&st=25#entry2481642 Quote
KlodsBrik Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 You did not mention that it is for any intended minifigure. So, is ok. Thanks, that was also what I thought. However better safe than sorry. I ran out of time, as Im gonna have some busy weeks ahead of me. If I get the time, I will retake the pictures with a black background ( If I can find some usefull materials ). Im really not a fan of taking shots of white bricks ! Quote

Tech Artist Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Yes, yours is definitely alright. Thanks! Good to know. I'm currently thinking about doing a Category B entry but I don't want to have to order more parts given the time left. I have a extra jewel from set 6903 Bug Blaster that I ordered awhile ago that I really want to use in an MOC. I recently found one with the magnetic sticker attached so I was able to replace it. WhiteFang Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Everyone, please keep up the good work! I just want to let you guys know that if you are unclear, just ask. You can PM me or clarify with me in public to avoid the risk of being disqualified. I can't be walking around to inspect all of the entries closely. I appreciate for your understanding. It is just 10 days more! And, I am serious with the deadline. Very serious... Do not submit your entry at the last minute, if you miss my deadline, it is your own responsibility for missing it. Quote
General Magma Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) I'm building something on a base that is 8x8, but as part of the base, I have some overhang (SNOT on brackets). The sections with overhang are as thick as one plate on its side plus the half-plate width of the bracket, and some bits have cheese slopes coming out of the side of the base (and these cheese slopes are also on their sides). Would I be allowed to do things like this up to a maximum of 2 studs overhang? (2 studs being 2 studs flat on the ground) Edited February 29, 2016 by General Magma Quote
WhiteFang Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Judging by your input, it seems alright but I can't visualize if that's my same understanding. The principle is based on these 2 rules: - Build a vignette that measures 8 studs by 8 studs. (No height limit.). - A reasonable overhang is allowed to accommodate tree limbs or minifigures accessories, but may not exceed more than 2 studs outside the base. Quote

It's something like this (just an example of the kind of overhang - the 2x2 grey plate represents the edge of the 8x8 base, and the 1x2 olive green plate demonstrates how it fits within the maximum of 2 studs) Edited February 29, 2016 by General Magma Quote
WhiteFang Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Sorry, in this case I can't permit this entry. It's because I also don't encourage this and I told another builder not to use SNOT base in excess of 8x8 which is unfair and this illustration is not exactly an overhang. I hope you can understand and adjust your entry appropriately. Thank you. Quote

Would having only the plates on the sides (without the cheese slopes or anything else on them) be permitted, or would that have to go as well? Just to be sure, before I try to re-do all of the base Edited February 29, 2016 by General Magma Quote
WhiteFang Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Yes, I will think it is permitted without the cheese slopes as long it can stay within 8x8 boundaries. Quote
preroller Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Hi, this overhanging it's ok? good call, the brick build itself is not within the 8x8 parameter. Quote
WhiteFang Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Yes, it's ok. That overhang is acceptable. Quote
Graham Gidman Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 How's my entry to Category B? Because the plug is made by using two of these on their sides, they extend out the back one stud further than the base. And, to keep Captain America's shield up, I had to secure from behind which exceeds the base by exactly two studs. My understanding was that you couldn't make your base 10x10 or something along those lines using the two stud overhang rule, but for things like I did in my entry (especially since they were just behind-the-scenes stuff), it was fine. Luckypat Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) I had used Adobe Illustrator to take out the background and replace it with a white background. Is this allowed? Thanks. Edited March 2, 2016 by Luckypat Quote
CisFran Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 The poster for the category B is somewhat misleading. The picture used is for Series 15 but in the rules you cannot use them. Why not use the pictures of the previous series if they are the minifigs to be used? I know we should read the rules first but what catches the eye first is the poster. just my 2 cents... Quote
WhiteFang Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Noted on your suggestion. It's because the main contest is on Series 15 and the intention is not to make Series 15 as any form of your entry highlight. Promotional graphic was used based on standardised unity which is under one umbrella to two categories or more. The intention is for the participants to read the rules. This is contest discipline and not to take it for granted in any situation. It is not meant to be an anti-fun approach. Still, your suggestion is well considered for future implementation. Thank you. SNOTenough Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 With the discussion going on about base overhang I thought I'd just check if my entry is okay? Quote

Tech Artist Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) I'm still seeing entries posted that are not following the image size rules. Please read the rules carefully everyone. We are almost to the deadline and it would suck to see anyone disqualified for such a simple oversight. The last 2: http://www.eurobrick...50#entry2490967 http://www.eurobrick...50#entry2491028 On another note, I'm loving the creativity I'm seeing from these entries. It's just astounding. Making me re-think some of the choices I made but I'm still happy with my entry for A. Edited March 4, 2016 by Tech Artist Quote
