brunojj1 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) I'd say just a month! If you ask me - 2nd option looks best with red panels I agree - and the red panels on the sides with green beams underneath looked great! Do you consider to put on stickers? Edited March 10, 2016 by brunojj1 Quote
JamesJT Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 I can make stickers but it would be nice to get as close to this (image below) as possible by changing a few parts to red or green. I really wish the 18944 arches came in white, red or black (instead of green, blue and purple). Quote

JamesJT Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 I've added stickers and lots of green parts. More green parts are on the way. lego 472 by James Tillson, on Flickr Quote
Zerobricks Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Thats awesome, looks like the famous octan livery! Quote
tibivi Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 this is an awesome build so far! i like how the panels are put together to create those lines. Quote
zweihander Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 This was beautiful, but with the added color&stickers, it became much more. I really like the looks. Quote
Lucio Switch Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 The shape is already wonderful! But the stickers give the right touch! Quote
JamesJT Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Its all done! I will make a video tonight and probably start a [MOC] topic too. Loads more pictures on my Flickr. Stratos 01 by James Tillson, on Flickr Stratos Stickers V1 by James Tillson, on Flickr Quote
DFYFZX Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 This thing turned out awesome! Another "must build" for my MOC list. By the time I get around to it, hopefully those curved panels will be released in a few more colors. This thing in black with the gold wheels and stickers would look wicked! Quote
JamesJT Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 I decided that its not finished yet as I would like to see if I can get a 4 speed gearbox under the engine instead of the simple 2 speed it has now. I made a video anyway. Quote
Peter Vercoelen Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 It looks great, too bad for the green curved panels, is it an idea to put white stickers on them? Quote
JamesJT Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 ^Yes, I like that. I would have to do the rear arches too. I will be able to make any I like soon... lego 480 by James Tillson, on Flickr Quote
Peter Vercoelen Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I will be able to make any I like soon... lego 480 by James Tillson, on Flickr That would be great. I am very interested in the ldd file when finished, escpecially in the engine/gearbox combination. I am building a Stratos too. Quote
JamesJT Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 LDD build was going very well. The new version has lots more parts and is easier to use BUT I just found out that there is no 56907 in LDD. Can the tyre file be imported? Quote

JamesJT Posted March 25, 2016 Author Posted March 25, 2016 LDD file and sticker jpeg are now available (£7). I had to do many redesigns to make all the connections "legal" in LDD. It is now easier to build, uses fewer parts, has a smoother mechanism for the lights (but looks exactly the same). It still doesn't have the right wheels as LDD doesn't have the big tyre from 42000. The #21 and #22 panels that should go above the rear wheel arches are "illegal" in LDD even though there is clear daylight between the parts in real life. 50+ hours on LDD well spent then... Final version is 1.7Kg and has 1730 parts (including 95 panels) I was going to build a blue version with a 4 speed but I'm ready to start something new now. Quote
Zerobricks Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Can you share the LXF so I can put the panels above rear arches where they belong? Quote
JamesJT Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 (edited) Maybe I'm not finished with Stratos yet... 4 speed remote link V2.1 by James Tillson, on Flickr There is a gate inside to stop 2 gears being selected at the same time. Edited April 7, 2016 by JamesJT Quote
JamesJT Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 (edited) I have the 4-speed in the chassis. It works very well. I did the test with a constant wheel speed to show the engine with high revs in 1st through to very low revs in 4th. I then tried to get 2 gears at the same time but couldn't. jorgeopesi Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Great car with a rear bigger wheel would be even better. Quote
