If you wish to join a convoy with either the Black Marlin or the Sulky Harlequin, please sign up here asap so that we can have plenty of time to get travel routes and escort info to participants before the deadline.

Edit: If you are Corrington and wish to convoy, sign up here as well no matter your ship speed.

Edit 2: Please state whether you want your ship to go on a high risk or medium risk route. Low risk is basically staying in a single zone, so will not be an option for Crown ship escorted convoys.

February Routes:

Route 3A – Merry Lyric –

Flotilla 1 – HMS Otter, Swift Packet, Dancing Dogfish

Flotilla 2 – Alexander, Jezebel, Saucy Jack

Flotilla 3 – Black Marlin, Valkyrie, Sphinx

Escorts: Mermaid – HMS Otter, Swift Packet, Dancing Dogfish, Black Marlin, Sphinx

Pandora - HMS Otter, Swift Packet, Dancing Dogfish, Saucy Jack, Sphinx

HMS Bull Shark - Alexander, Jezebel, Valkyrie, Black Marlin, Saucy Jack

Route 3B – Fire Trader –

Flotilla 1 – Sulky Harlequin, Purple Rain, HMS Green Dragon

Flotilla 2 – la Raenette, The Mercator

Escorts: Queen's Glory - Sulky Harlequin, Purple Rain, HMS Green Dragon, la Raenette, The Mercator

Mars - Sulky Harlequin, Purple Rain, HMS Green Dragon, la Raenette, The Mercator

Ibn al'Sayeed was very happy with the conduct of the convoy last month and should like to join with the Sphinx (speed 3) again this month.

You can put the Green Dragon in the same convoy for the same route agin (the Sulky one)

My toher two vessels are limited to one zone and will be operating together by themselves for a protected fishing run :-)

I am just going to put this here. This month, and going forward, after Mike, or whoever, sets up a thread like this to establish how a convoy will work, they can create the convoy in the form, give it a name, and all other ships traveling with the convoy just have to use that convoy's name in the MRCA form where it will say "name of convoy you are participating in"

This should prevent any mixups. The EB thread with the convoys will serve as the final say on who is traveling with who.

That should make things a lot easier...thumbup.gif

It looks like most of Corrington is in agreement, and the Queen gives her blessing, to add Paridisio to the official Naval Rolls for our Fleet in the Eastern Waters. The Lords of the Naval board have instructed the captains of the four royal ships to follow the routes chosen by Coyle Shipping Company this month.

I am considering licensing the Otter and sending her on an escort mission (Due to speed, that would be route 2A). However, I wonder what my reward for this would be? What would you guys consider fair? A percentage of the (hopefully positive) total profits of the convoy? A fixed price? And how about captured ships - Could I claim them as prize?

Thoughts, please pirate_blush.gif

Since nobody has a real "cushion" right now in their bank account, I think the percentage is the way to go for now instead of a flat fee. Also, If it were my ship being escorted, I would not mind you getting the prize ship, and if it was one of substantial value, I think that could even mitigate the convoy fee. However, if there is a royal warship with that run, the rules would hand over the ship to whichever ship actually caught it. But, maybe you could work a deal with the government to run the ship? Theoretical right now, but we can all discuss it when it happens.

Ok then, I suggest the following. I license the Otter as a class 3 A and send it on route 2A as an escort.

I will do so for a mere 20 % of total trade income for the run. Any vessels captured by the flotilla or the HMS Otter will go to the Otter's owners - and in the case of capture above class 0, the 20 % fee will be discounted. Should a ship be captured by the royal escort, it will befall the Crown, although the Captain of the Otter would not say no to some prize or gun-money for helping in the engagement, should the Crown feel this fitting. (If for instance the ship is sold...)

It is my hope that the captains of the Flying Colt and the HMS Alice (and any other ships that may join) will find these terms reasonable and acceptable.

(I am not so much doing this for the profit, but more to see if this can be a profitable arrangement. It does seem rather risky.)

I wonder, however: Do the escorts form a flotilla too? So that The Otter could actually capture a vessel together with the Royal escort, or do the escorts fight on a stand-alone basis? That has an impact on how we make these arrangements.

Yes, but there are some complications, such as, in order to do this, the ships would have to be escorting the exact same ships, so larger convoys might not be able to form flotillas with the escorts, and "shield" all of the cargo ships.

Would we also be getting an official Corrington escort?

20% with a chance of a reduction in case you capture a ship sounds very reasonable anyway.

More protection gives us a better chance on a riskier route with higher profits I’d think.

HMS Alice approves of your experiment

I am in agreement with Puvel that it is a reasonable proposal. I would approve of your experiment. However, with just the two ships sailing (so far) it might be advantageous for you if you can work out a privateering option. I am good for an escort though.
