Posted February 4, 20169 yr Hey everyone, finally got all the parts in for a Graflex Lightsaber I designed, let me know what you all think.
February 4, 20169 yr Nicely done! Instantly recognisable. Bonus points: You've clearly paid attention to detail: you've nailed the exact configuration shown in the TFA trailer (ANH bottom button, TESB circuit board and rivets on grips).
February 5, 20169 yr This is fantastic work, simple yet very detailed! Still a bit wondering why TLG wont release models like this...
February 8, 20169 yr Graflex is the name of a hand-held flash photography unit, the main handle of which was used to create the first Lightsabers. At one time they were selling on eBay for £100+ http://www.originalprop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/original-graflex-flash-gun-new-in-box-framed-x425.jpg Now you'd be very lucky to find one outside of a specialist photography shop/museum or by luck in a junk shop.
February 17, 20169 yr This is fantastic work, simple yet very detailed! Still a bit wondering why TLG wont release models like this... A lightsaber project made it to 10,000 votes and the subsequent official review on LEGO Ideas a while ago, but wasn't approved. It's possible TLG won't make "prop"-style models like this for a somewhat similar reason to that for which they no longer release packs of just Star Wars minifigures - i.e., a perceived license conflict. Various other companies have held the rights over the years to make detailed, realistic, full-scale replicas of Star Wars weapons, gear, etc. (and/or the production props used to represent them onscreen). If minifigure-only packs can be considered to conflict with Hasbro's license for action figures, it seems somewhat likely sets to build full-scale lightsabers might be considered a violation of the prop replica licensees. But of course we can't know for sure... Oh, and BTW, nice creation, demonhunter.
