With the Stranger Things set being released this month to VIP's when will the fairground set be released?

There is a fairly big chance we are not seeing one this year. As discussed earlier. Due to the presence of fairground attractions in Friends. Same happened about 2 or 3 years ago.

I don't think it's just this year's Friends, fairground is very omnipresent this time around :

Creator 3-in-1

Toy Story 4

Friends

City People Pack

Also the 2018 Red Creator Expert Rollercoaster was quite a big Fairground set , both in size and price, as well as another smaller Pirate coaster that same year.

well im pretty devastated I just bought the creator carousel yesterday and I was soooo close to finishing it until I realised the 6 white rods used for the top of the canvas was missing but I swear I had them so I fear I accidentally threw them away when cleaning up the bags I just hope lego will be kind enough to send me some spare ones

Same with the others. I only started with the fairground theme as the Ferris Wheel was on clearance. Still have a huge backlog of other themes to buy plus the Carousel and Coaster sets. And yeah, that Treehouse at $200 and possibly the surprise Stranger Things sets... Stretching my Lego budget already!!!

the carousel is a beauty though just bought mine yesterday and finished today and im soo tempted to get the expert roller coaster next week

I think there is enough fairground stuff this year to justify missing the creator expert set this year. The 3 in one has 3 excellent little builds, that I'll be buying 3 so I can have all 3 built at once. That'll do me right there. Let alone all the other fairground stuff going on! It also gives me a chance and motivation to have ago designing my own fairground ride. In all honesty, I think they've spoiled us with the roller-coaster, pirate coaster, this year's fairground related stuff/people pack, so I'm cool with them giving it a break!

The Creator 3 in 1 Carousel is nice and for sure will go with the CE Fairground sets. I really don't see this with the Friends amusement park sets since they don't fit in color, style and size.

For me it's very disapponinting to see no CE Fairground set appearing this year only because of a bad Friends amusement park line and a licensed horror series set!

However, there's set 10266 (Discovery) that I don't know what it may be. It only has about 1000 pieces so I doubt it'll be a fairground set.

I‘ve heard that this set is an Apollo Eagle moon landing set.

the LEGOLAND theme park set is a fantastic deal over 1300 pieces and 11 minifigures for £100 and i cant wait to build the dragon coaster and for anybody wondering my local discovery centre always has the exclusive LEGOLAND sets for sale

hey why isn't nobody counting the Jurassic world triceratops rampage as a fairground/theme park set that has a egg themed ride included

You do raise a good point, but I suspect it's going beneath the notice of most folks in this topic because the ride itself only accounts for a quarter or so of the set. Undoubtedly, though, plenty of people will be selling it on Bricklink sans minifigs and dinosaur at a substantial markdown, in which case it might be worth picking up for a fairground layout!

The same thing happened to me!  I placed these parts somewhere else while building as they came in a separate bag.  I was lucky enough to find them, hope you were able to also.

Are there any rumors for a Fairground set being released this year?

There wasn't one last year, and I hope TLG doesn't put an end to one of their most colorful and refreshing Expert subthemes.

with the retirement of the Big wheel and the carousel I'm hoping for a new one this year although I've got to buy the rollercoaster yet :hmpf:

I've recently been looking at the online instructions of all the fairground rides for the motorisation (a project I want to start working on ) and all the pictures in the back show a chair swing in colours that match the big wheel so maybe that's the final one in the set/theme

I really hope they don't do that as well.  It's one of my personal favorite lines that they have.  There are so many different rides that can be made as well.

Yeah, I was thinking that too.  The rollercoaster also appears on the first three boxes but not its own, so this would seem logical?

This website gives some pretty good ideas, even though it’s 18 months old.

Yes a swing ride was the rumor I heard.  Would be difficult for a swing ride to come close to the Carousel and the Ferris Wheel.  Those were two very well done sets!

@TalonCard posted this photo from the LEGO House and that swing ride with the planet on top really looks familiar :

Interesting. Could a new fairground set be hiding in plain sight?

I'd like to think that the Free fall tower that was discussed in 2018 (I think) was really pushed back to 2020, and that TLG hasn't abandoned this subtheme.

I wouldn't get too excited about it; while it's certainly possible that LEGO could use something from the display as inspiration, or that set designs could find them their way into a display (especially in Billund), that picture is from October. I'm fairly sure that ride has been there awhile before that too; possibly even when the LEGO House opened.

It was mainly an observation to potentially help out the people who like to collect those type of sets, since the similar ride has been on the box 4 times now, with the exact same planet on top.

10257 Caroussel just retired last year December 2019.

But you're right, there were more rides on that display that haven't been sets or aren't even on the box arts, it's just that Tower that stood out.
