Luckypat Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Hey everyone It's been some time since my last upload here on EuroBrick. I finished this project around December, but only got around to taking pictures this week. This time, I decided to build an island that has never been explored, until now. As always, any feedback (both positive and negative) that are constructive are welcome. The Island build itself (Without the explorers). A closer look at the beach. The 2 bravest explorers make their way onto the island (1). The 2 bravest explorers make their way onto the island (2). Please excuse the sloppy masking, just installed Illustrator last night and I'm still getting used to it. Thanks for your time, ~Pat Quote

What do the adventurers name this new place? Thank you...No name or date given... I guess that can rest in the viewers imagination! Quote
BrickCurve Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Great MOC, the island has a very nice feel to it. Some small rock formations at the back of the island would give it a much more wild feel, as it is the island looks a bit too unsubstantial for the average explorer to bother with, assuming theres no buried treasure! Some more 1 x 2 plates scattered in the sand would give it some more texture and make it look more realistic as well. As others have said, you should consider joining BoBS or GoH. Both would suit your style of building fairly well. Do you have a flickr page? It makes it a lot simpler for people to find your MOCs just by clicking on a picture rather than doing it via other websites. Quote

I really like that idea of adding rocks and smaller pieces, I'm sure that it would definitely improve the scene. I'm not too sure what BoBS or GoH is (thinking it is a "building group" online)? I actually just posted the first photo on Flickr (TheLuckyCanadian), though, I'm not too experienced with it but really looking into posting more there. Thanks for the tips and suggestions! Cool island! Nice trees! Thank you! Edited February 8, 2016 by Luckypat Quote
BrickCurve Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I had a look but am unable to find your Flickr page. You should consider putting a link in you signature (see mine below). I hope to see you in GoH! Quote
nine09nueve Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 This is brilliant... Lovely composition... But... (Sorry) Is it just me or does it look like the rowboat is leaving the island? Should the rowing pirate not be facing away from the island if the boat is moving towards it? D Quote

I hope to see you in GoH! Thanks for the advice! Link is in my signature. This is brilliant... Lovely composition... But... (Sorry) Is it just me or does it look like the rowboat is leaving the island? Should the rowing pirate not be facing away from the island if the boat is moving towards it? D Yes, my mistake on that... the rower should be facing the other way in order to be "making their way onto the island". Thank you for the feedback! Quote
nine09nueve Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 It's still *good*... It could be 2 brave explorers leaving said island... It's not like they would have spent "that" long on it! :D Much love D Quote
Exetrius Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Very realistic and and truely beautiful! A build to drool over and dream away, longing for the tranquilty of the Pacific Quote

Jacob Nion Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 This is a great layout. The soil is good, the vegetation is fine, water fits well (especially the way the waves are breaking at the shore) and your photographing is of a good quality. I'm glad you joined Historica. Quote
PaddyBricksplitter Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Very nice effect with the water breaking on the beach. Quote
Forresto Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Im getting an assasins creed 4 vibe off of this. To add to the chorus the water effect you achieved is great! Quote
Nagol of Fortfield Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Very very great! Like others said, the water is amazing, but also the beach is to die for. -There are two islands there, not one! Lucky for the explorers. :P -Also, it seems to be inhabited... by starfish and monkeys! Quote
